Kogi: You Have 24 Hours To Prove That CP Recruited Thugs Or Face The Consequences Of Your Allegation – Police To SDP Spokesman

Kogi: You Have 24 Hours To Prove That CP Recruited Thugs Or Face The Consequences Of Your Allegation – Police To SDP Spokesman

The Nigeria Police Force has given the spokesperson of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Kogi State, Farouk Adejoh, a 24-hour ultimatum to share more information on his allegation that the Commissioner of Police, Bethrand Onuoha, was responsible for recruiting thugs for a particular political party in the state.
Suspected Gun Runner Arrested In Delta
The Spokesperson of the Kogi State Police Command, SP William Ovye Aya, in a statement on Thursday, described Adejoh’s allegation as a direct insult to the integrity and authority of the Nigerian Police Force.

He directed Ajejoh to substantiate his allegation against the State Police Command and the Commissioner of Police or face the consequences of his action.

“The Police Command doesn’t belong to any political party. Our responsibility is to protect lives and property, a mandate we have protected without fear or favour.

“Today, we received reports of a protest gone awry at the State Office of the Independent National Electoral Commission. The CP swiftly directed the deployment of officers and men to restore normalcy at the INEC Office.

“Our concern is the protection of the staff and property of the Electoral Commission as well as the safety of the citizens transacting businesses around the INEC Office.

“With the support of other security agencies, calm was restored at the INEC State Headquarters.

“How the operation that restored peace at the INEC Office has infuriated the Social Democratic Party is what we don’t understand. The protesters who blocked the road and were burning tires to scare people were all wearing the fez caps of the Social Democratic Party,” the Kogi police spokesperson said in the statement.

The statement added the Kogi State Commissioner of Police has “unbiasedly’ directed a full investigation into the allegation raised by the SDP spokesperson to ensure that a final knell is placed on attempts by politicians to drag the Police Force into partisan disagreements.

Fuel Price To Decrease As Local Refineries Begin Operation – Tinubu

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Sunday reassured Nigerians that some local refineries would soon begin production of petroleum products.

President Tinubu who gave the the assurance during the 11th Convocation ceremony of the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike, (MOUAU), said that the current exorbitant price of fuel would crash when the local refineries come on stream.

This is coming six months after his declaration that the Port Harcourt refinery would resume operation by December 2023 upon assumption to office on May 29.

Represented by the Executive Secretary of the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria, Professor Garba Sharubutu, Tinubu acknowledged the prevailing economic hardship in the country but assured that it would soon subside once the local refineries commence operations.

“Very soon, some of our local refineries will start production, and the current exorbitant prices of fuel energy will be greatly reduced,” he said.

He appealed for patience and continued support from Nigerians for his administration as efforts were made to address the challenges in the country.

“Bear with us and remain resolutely in support of this administration, as we would leave no stone unturned in reversing the severe hardships that our people are currently passing through.

“Part of the supplementary budget that the Parliament has approved will be applied to bring interventions to critical segments of the agricultural sector.

“The burden of insecurity is clearly a major challenge in Nigeria, but I assure you that in no distant time, it will become history.”

The President tasked the universities of agriculture in the country with rising to the challenges of food scarcity.

Kayode Uaneroro died on the 14/11/2021 morning. He was the police officer who ARRESTED notorious armed robber Lawrence Anini in the late 1980s.

Mr Kayode Uaneroro died on the 14/11/2021 morning. He was the police officer who ARRESTED notorious armed robber Lawrence Anini in the late 1980s.

Kayode was the commandant at the Mopol training school at Gwoza when it was suggested to then IGP that if they were serious about getting Anini, Kayode was to be detailed for the task.

Standing at over six feet, dark and ripling with muscles with a no-nonsense visage, Kayode apart from being a crack Police detective also had a black belt in Karate. He had had many encounters with armed robbers and many had paid dearly. He was naturally the man to go after Anini who had become a kind of National ambarassment.

In a couple of weeks and acting on intelligence, Kayode and his ten man team of crack policemen working in mufti but heavily armed stormed into a Benin city house where Lawrence Anini was hiding. The latter wasn't expecting the Police. He was shot on his left ankle by Kayode and immobilized. That was the end of the reign of Lawrence Anini and the national embarrassment he orchestrated also was terminated.

Shortly after that Koyode left the Police service and became the Chief security officer of a top bank. At that time we had become neighbours in the Akoka area of Lagos. He was a jolly fellow, a perfect gentleman and giant and rarely talked of his escapades in the Police. He humorously referred to his licenced personal  rifle as 'Bomboy'. He would ask his son to fetch 'Bomboy' whenever he sensed that armed and dangerous rascals were in the neighborhood. Anywhere he was and no matter the time, Kayode was always prepared for action. He didn't allow 'Bomboy' to be too far away.

Kayode eventually studied Law and opened a private Law office in Ebute-Metta area of Lagos and practiced law till his demise. May he find rest. May his memory always be a blessing for all those who knew him. A great warrior he was. - Credit Nigerian History

Mr Ibile Vindicated As Court Remands Samsudeen Oluwo, Alleged Hire Assassin Engaged by Land Grabber, Murphy Adebare Topaz In Historic Ruling

Mr Ibile Vindicated As Court Remands Samsudeen Oluwo, Alleged Hire Assassin Engaged by Land Grabber, Murphy Adebare Topaz In Historic Ruling

In a historic ruling that sends a clear message against land grabbing and criminal activities, the Magistrates' Court of Lagos State has ordered the remand of two individuals who were allegedly hired by accused land grabbers to assassinate Hon. Saheed Mosadoluwa, the promoter of Whiterose, Harmony Gardens and Estate Development Limited. The court also ordered further investigation into the masterminds behind the plot.

A few months ago, Hon. Saheed Mosadoluwa, popularly known as Mr. Ibile, raised concerns about the unlawful activities of land grabbers on a property owned by his company at Eyin-Osa. The suspects, including Samsudeen Oluwo aka Ese Olobo and Sunday Olabayo, were allegedly engaged by Murphy Adebare Ademoye a.k.a Topaz to assassinate Mr. Ibile and forcefully take possession of his company's properties.

On Tuesday, November 21, 2023, before His Honor, B.A. Sonuga, CM (Admin), at Court 2, Igbosere, Lagos, the court held a session to address the charges against the defendants. Among them were Sunday Olabayo, Lawal Ibrahim Adefemi, Gbenga Demurin, Idowu Mujaheed, Samsudeen Oluwo, and Dare Majekodunmi.

Notably, the court discharged and acquitted Lawal Ibrahim Adefemi, Idowu Mujaheed, Dare Majekodunmi, and Gbenga Demorin based on the advice of the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) of the Attorney-General of Lagos State. However, it ruled that Samsudeen Oluwo a.k.a Ese-olobo, who granted Saharareporters and Gistlover viral interviews claiming dehumanization by Mr-Ibile, and Sunday Olabayo should be remanded in prison custody pending further legal proceedings.

In a letter with reference number CB:3510/X/FHQ/ ABJ/PPRO/VOL.11/96, the legal advice from the DPP highlighted that there was sufficient evidence to establish a prima facie case of conspiracy and unlawful possession of firearms against Shamsudeen Oluwo and Olabayo. The charges also included wilful damage to property and forcible possession.

The court's decision vindicates Hon. Saheed Mosadoluwa, who had previously raised alarm over the nefarious activities of the accused individuals. Eyin Osa land owners claimed that Murphy Adebare had the backing of the AIG Idowu Owohunwa and CSP Shola Jejeloye of the Lagos State Task Force, who they believed  took advantage of their offices to obstruct justice and favor the alleged land grabbers.

Adewole Apena claimed "that his family was part of the owners of the ressetlement land  that sold land to Saheed Mosadoluwa, and despite attempts to discredit him and withdraw his company's mobile guards and his personal security, Mr. Ibile stood his ground and defended himself against the assassination attempt and we all the land owners thank God for the court's ruling that supports Mosadoluwa's claims and exposes the lies of the accused hired assassin,  who posted a doctored video on social media claiming dehumanization and ownership of the land.

However, the DPP recommended a follow-up investigation into Murphy Adebare Ademoye (Topaz), Sule Razak (Success), Lawo Oyewole (Fake General), and Kamoru Lamina (Sir K) for their alleged involvement in orchestrating the criminal activities.

The case is adjourned to January 23, 2024, for mention, and the AG office is advised to pursue the necessary legal processes at the High Court of Lagos State.

This legal development marks a significant victory for justice, emphasizing the consequences for land grabbers and those involved in criminal activities. Hon. Saheed Mosadoluwa's stand against the illegal takeover of the property is now reinforced by the court's decision, setting a precedent for accountability in such cases.

How I suddenly found myself under Oshodi bridge after spending 21 years in America” – Nigerian man painfully shares

How I suddenly found myself under Oshodi bridge after spending 21 years in America” – Nigerian man painfully shares

After 21 years in America, a UK-trained Banking and Finance graduate tells an emotive narrative of how he ended up under Oshodi bridge in Lagos.

During a radio appearance, the man told his life narrative.

According to the man, he spent 9 years in London studying banking and finance.

He had a dream while living in America in which he was flying and saw several signboards such as welcome to Bahamas (where he normally went for vacation) and then another that said ‘Welcome to London’ and then another that said ‘Welcome to Africa,’ and still another that said ‘Welcome to Nigeria.’

He claimed that he awoke from his dream crying deliriously “Nigeria!” and that his family rushed him to a hospital in California.

After being discharged from the hospital, he was flown back to Nigeria, where his elder siblings met him at the airport and drove him to the Yaba Psychiatric Hospital.

He said that he was put there and that the hospital was forced to release him since no one was coming to pay his fees and upkeep.

The Nigerian man stated that he began sleeping beneath Oshodi Bridge till the police began chasing people out of their abode beneath the bridge.

In his account, he stated that the police proded him with their gun, asking who he is, and in that moment, he got a bit of his sanity back and told the policemen, to their confusion, that he’s from America.

He further said that he had been taken to a mountain where he spent 6 years being delivered.

World Cup Qualifier: “Nigeria’s Draw Against Lesotho Was A National Embarrassment” – Oliseh

World Cup Qualifier: “Nigeria’s Draw Against Lesotho Was A National Embarrassment” – Oliseh

Former Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh, has described Nigeria’s 1-1 draw with Lesotho in Thursday’s 2026 World Cup qualifier at the Godswill Akpabio stadium in Uyo a national embarrassment.

Recall that the Super Eagles got their FIFA 2026 World Cup qualifier on a disappointing note following a home draw.

Reacting to the draw, Oliseh who starred for Nigeria at two World Cup tournaments before his exit from international football in 2002, believed that players from the Nigeria Professional Football League would have beaten the Lesotho team.

He said: “Will this nightmare ever end? Woke up to this shocker this morning.

“Our home base players should beat Lesotho. They even scored us first! The painful part is, no consequences for these national embarrassments.”

The Eagles will have the chance to bounce back when they take on Zimbabwe in their second match on Sunday in Kigali, Rwanda.

We Don’t Understand What He Says Most Times – Super Eagles Players Laments Difficulties With Peseiro

We Don’t Understand What He Says Most Times – Super Eagles Players Laments Difficulties With Peseiro

Players of the senior national team of Nigeria say the communication is partly why the team is struggling to implement the ideas and understand the head coach of the team Jose Peseiro during games, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

The team were held to a shock 1-1 draw in the world cup qualifiers by minnows Lesotho and left Nigeria for Rwanda, where they will take on Zimbabwe in their second game of the series.

Their style of play hasn’t been the best since the Portuguese took over as coach and it has resulted in the team losing 60 percent of their games the past one year. Already doubts are begining to emerge about his suitability for the role.

A cross section of the players of the team who spoke to us on the condition of anonymity to protect relationship said communication is a huge problem due to the coach’s poor english speaking ability.

They said most times they asked each other what he said or meant. Sometimes in the spur of the moment he speaks in Portuguese, a language that only three players in the team in Zaidu Sanusi, Bruno Onyemaechi and Chidozie Awaziem understands.

Fish Seller Tackles Tinubu, Sanwo-Olu Over Rising Cost Of Living

Fish Seller Tackles Tinubu, Sanwo-Olu Over Rising Cost Of Living

A fish seller at Oyingbo market, Lagos state, has lamented the harsh economic reality she and other Nigerians have faced since Bola Tinubu‘s assumption as President.

The aged woman in the video making the rounds online complained about the high cost of fish, and the inability to send her children to school.

The woman also accused President Tinubu and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of causing Nigerians and Lagosians pain, adding that things would have been better if the Igbos who contested during the election had won.

Speaking in Yoruba, she said,“Government please help us. You said we should vote for you Now we have voted for you, you are now suffering us. Fish that we buy at N30, 000 before is now N70, 000. Kote fish that was N15, 000 is now N40, 000. Please have mercy on you. We are hungry. Please don’t us through this pain. We can’t go out again nor even eat.

“This is the fish we sell to train our children. We can’t send our kids to school anymore. We can’t eat again.

Brief history of CSMS worldwide (AYO NI O) and names of Baba Aladura till date

The arrival of Movement Church Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church is a branch of the main body of Cherubim and Seraphim (C&S).

The beginning of Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church was done by devotees who believed that “JAH-JEHOVAH” himself established the church through Moses Orimolade Tunolase and that they must remain loyal to his ideas and principles of worship as emphasized in the Bible.

The advocate to remain far away from controversies, disputes and breakaway characterized by splinter groups which hindered the progress of C&S led to the formation of the Movement Church in November, 1927.

A group of people comprising of Late N.E. Coker, S.A. Adekoya, S.O. Kalejaiye, E.O. Ajayi, D.A. Aina, J.T. Agboola and C.A. Shofarasin started worshipping at a residence belonging to one Mrs. Adebiyi (known then as “Mama Ondo”) at Ibadan Street in Kaduna.
Members of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church on transfer to Jos, Minna, Zaria, Kano and other towns in the North established branches there. Elder N.E. Coker became the first General Overseer (Baba Aladura) of the Holy Order of CSMC of Northern Nigeria.

It was at the meeting held on the 11th November, 1941 that Kaduna was pronounced as the Headquarter of Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church of Northern Nigeria. The constitution further stated that Kaduna shall be the headquarters and the seat of the spiritual father who shall be the administrative head of the church.
CSMC foundation is based on six basic principles namely:

(a) Bible Study
(b) Interpreting/Explaining the inspired word of God
(c) Healing through the Word
(d) Biblical Fasting and Effective Intercession Prayer
(e) Regular Church Attendance
(f) Love to our Neighbors and the Nation.

With the civil strife of 1966, the Northern Conference as it was then known spread to the South-West. Consequently, branches were set up in Kwara, Lagos, Ibadan, Osogbo, Ogbomoso, Ile-Ife, Benin-City, Port Harcourt, Enugu, Asaba, warri and a host of other towns. The Church has improved the drive for membership and presently, for administration convenience, there are Districts across Nigeria and Oversees.
The CSMC has spread overseas  arriving London in 1965, USA in 1976, Italy in 1981 and the Western Germany in 1987.

CITATION OF THE MOST REVEREND (DR.) PROPHET SAMUEL ADEFILA ABIDOYE JP,CHAIRMAN AND SPIRITUAL FATHER, CHERUBIM AND SERAPHIM MOVEMENT CHURCH WORLDWIDE,AYO NI O*

CITATION OF THE MOST REVEREND (DR.) PROPHET SAMUEL ADEFILA ABIDOYE JP,CHAIRMAN AND SPIRITUAL FATHER, CHERUBIM AND SERAPHIM MOVEMENT CHURCH WORLDWIDE,AYO NI O*

The Most Rev’d (Dr.) Prophet Samuel Adefila Abidoye was born on June 26,1922 in Omu Aran,Ifelodun Local Government area of Kwara State. His father was Odetundun Abegunde, who was a Kabiyesi,Oba Olomu of Omu Aran, which was in Ilorin province at the time. His mother’s name was Tinuade Tinuola, daughter of Niniola,a princess of Oponda.

He started Schooling in May 1934,but lost his father on the Valentine day of 14th February,1938.Which made the 'Lovers’ Day' especially memorable to him personally.Around 1938,a revered Man of God,Senior Apostle Prophet Oyinloye from Rore, near Omu Aran, introduced Baba Abidoye to the Cherubim and Seraphim Church.

Meanwhile, just as other converts in other folds, this new convert and others were made to memorise the Catechism, which they had to repeat before Baptism. Thereafter,he was given the grace of seeing in his dreams, our Lord Jesus Christ,Apostles Peter and John in trance in 1958!

In 1940,he was one of the students transferred from Native Authority(N.A.) School(Primary school) Omu Aran,to a Secondary school in Ilorin called “Ilorin Middle School”.He was also among those that were later moved from Ilorin Middle School to Bida Middle School.

After schooling,he began work with the Nigeria Railways in 1944.He worked with the Railways from 1944 to 1958,during which period he rose to the position of Second Class Station Master. When the Nigeria Railways became a “Corporation”,he was one of the few people who refused to work for this new Corporation and were retired.

After this,he moved to Kaduna and secured another employment with the Ministry of Agriculture, Kaduna, from 1958 to December 1960.In Kaduna, he worshipped at the National Headquarters of the Holy Order of Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church. As a church worker, he served with the Secretariat as Tithe Collector.

It was at this period that Baba Aladura Abidoye developed a very close relationship with God.In Kaduna, his spiritual life became defined, with noticeable spiritual development. He was one of the founding members of Ifeloju Band at the National Headquarters Church, Kaduna.

In 1960, he decided to travel to London to study Photography. He left Kaduna and sailed out of Nigeria to London on 5th January, 1961.He arrived England wearing his Prayer Gown (Garment).During the two weeks sail on Sea to London,he fasted three times before arriving Liverpool.Throughout his approximately 48 years in England,he observed Lenten Period and never missed a Fast even before the first Cherubim and Seraphim Church was founded by him and some fellow sojourners in the Whiteman’s land.

In 1965,a number of Faithfuls, including Special Apostle Olorunrinu Ogundele,Special Apostle Solomon Olu Ajibode,Late Senior Apostle Pro. Rose Ozasuwa (first Church Secretary),Late Special Apostle Dr. G. O. Fakeye, Late Special Apostle J. B. Opaleke,Late Baba Aladura Ifesowapo Ijaodola,Late Special Apostle Peter Korode and Baba Aladura Abidoye started the Holy Order of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church Movement in London.

At a point, when his employers gave him the option of either choosing to attend church and worship his God or jettisoning this and retain his job,he chose God and lost his job.He however worked with the British Railways from 1961 to 1965.Although Baba Aladura Abidoye arrived England virtually broke, with special benevolence of God,he and his wife bought their house at 18,Arlingford Road, London SW2 2SU,in August 1963.Coupled with starting a church in 1965.

His training for the post of Baba Aladura by God,became more pronounced when he started representing the Cherubim and Seraphim at meetings of World Council of Churches in 1976.He was able to learn a lot from other Churches when he started interacting with heads of these churches, through Church Together in Britain and Ireland (CBI).

However,it was his Ordination as Special Apostle in 1977,which put him firmly in a position to become a Baba Aladura.
Meanwhile,in 1970, the Secretary of the church, MSA Prophet Peter Korode, and Baba Aladura Abidoye as the Spiritual Leader, registered the Church in the United Kingdom.

In 2005,by the grace of God, The Most Rev’d Dr. Samuel Adefila Abidoye was unanimously appointed the Spiritual Father of this great Church, during the Ibadan Conference. His official installation took place in May,2006,during the Mount Horeb Ascension celebration in Kaduna. He is married with children.

ACHIEVEMENTS AS SPIRITUAL FATHER:

In order to reform the office and ensure that competent hands were available to support his drive for change in the Conference of our Church,Baba Aladura Abidoye created more offices and employed fresher and younger hands. As stated above, this was meant to revitalise the International Secretariat and turn it around. The strategy paid off and now we have a more dynamic, proactive and improved Secretariat of our Church.

THE HEPHZIBAH PROJECT BLUEPRINT:

The Hephzibah Project Manual is the Roadmap for the Administration of Baba Aladura Abidoye. It is an Action Plan that focuses on the transformation of the Church. With the Hephzibah Project blueprint, the Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church Worldwide was poised for a evolution and revolution she had.

CREATION OF NEW UNITS AND ORGANS:

With this awesome workbook, the first 10 years administration of The Most Rev’d Dr. S. A. Abidoye successfully created new groups like the Girls’ Brigade,Pastors’ Council, Evangelical Council, Children Evangelical Ministry,Youth Fellowship and Women Fellowship.

Programmes like the Night of Total Transformation,A Night With Jesus,Youth Convention, etc were also introduced. Also,Boards were created as veritable platforms for rubbing minds on programmes of the Conference,as well as bringing innovation into the operation of the Church.

Baba Aladura S. A. Abidoye happens to be the most travelled Spiritual Head of this Church till date.He has visited almost all the Districts he met on the ground (both the ones within Nigeria and those abroad). He was physically present at the inauguration of all the districts he created. He met 45 Districts and created 35(as at 2015).I am sure that by the time he clocks 20 years as Baba Aladura, he would have pushed the number of our districts from the current 80 to 120.I am convinced and you will agree with me that these achievements are due mainly to the benevolence of God almighty, unto whom we return all glory.

GALILEE LAND:

The Galilee, where the Church's Conference Events now takes place,Orile-Igbon, near Ogbomoso,in Oyo state, came by Divine Mandate.God told His Grace,Baba Aladura Abidoye,to take members of this glorious Church to the place where he is waiting for them.Where God foretold in 2009 has now become the 'Mecca' of our Church;a place of refuge, where divine encounters takes place every time programmes are organised there, either by units and organs of the Church or the Conference at large. The presence of God is very heavy on our Galilee and we pray that what will take away His presence from this Land will never happen in Jesus Christ name, amen!

Due to the vision and sagacity of our Baba Aladura,a Farm Project was begun at Iragbiji, but was later relocated to Asileke near Ogbomoso due to difficult topography of Iragbiji.Incidentally, the Farm at Asileke is very productive. As we speak, more than 400 large pigs have been sold from the farm. The Poultry Farm is producing high yield of Fowl and Eggs.In fact, more than 200 Chickens from the farm were sold during the just concluded Mount Horeb Ascension.

There is also a commercial Printing Press in Kaduna and a Medical laboratory. Also,at our site by NNPC Junction,Kachia Road, Kaduna,a 32-Shops Shopping Complex project is on-going.We hope to generate good money from these investments as time goes on.

Baba Abidoye is a prolific writer and wrote many books when he was based abroad. He has also written six others within the last ten years of becoming the Baba Aladura.Currently,he is running a weekly column on Ecclesiastical topics in the Sun Newspapers.

I believe that this Church is lucky to be blessed with this humble, visionary, resourceful and highly spiritual man at this time in our history.I want to crave your indulgence for a standing ovation for this giant achiever,His Grace, The Most Rev’d Dr. Samuel Adefila Abidoye!"

Post Script:

Baba Aladura Abidoye has also revolutionized many hitherto conservative spheres of the Church's Administration,Ordination,Doctrines, etc. He introduced the novel ideas of Model Parishes,Pastoral training,Collarised-Dressing of ordained Pastors, encouragement of better visibility for Female members as Leaders-in-Charge, Supervising Prophetesses, etc! He also reinvigorated the idea and mobilization for the take off of the Moses Orimolade University,Omu Aran,Kwara state and many, many more achievements to his eternal credit

ACKNOWLEDGMENT:
Lest I forget, immense APPRECIATION to Most Senior Apostle Remi Iirekigbe, the Personal Assistant(Spiritual) to His Grace,Baba Aladura Abidoye, for his prompt response to my request for His Grace's Profile, for the benefit of our members, who did not know much about Baba Aladura's Biography and achievements, since his assumption of office,in 2005.May the almighty God continue to count Alagba Iirekigbe worthy of the entrusted responsibilities,in Jesus name, amen!

-SPECIAL APOSTLE OTUNBA AKIN ADARAMOLA

Governorship election : Carnival in Kogi Central

Governorship election : Carnival in Kogi Central

Governorship election Carnival in Kogi Central
There was massive turnout in Kogi Central on Saturday as residents trooped out in their numbers to cast their votes in the much-anticipated off-cycle governorship election in Kogi State.

Ebira indigenes, in particular, had, as early as Wednesday, begun to arrive in droves in Okene and other Local Government Areas of the state to ensure what they described as a total delivery of votes for the Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Ododo Ahmed Usman, who is the only candidate from Kogi Central in the race.

Some of those who were interviewed at some polling units with mammoth crowd revealed how sons and daughters of the area had mobilised money among themselves to hire luxurious buses for people to return home to vote.

Speaking on the massive turnout in Kogi Central, an independent observer, Yakubu Jimoh, said he went round on Friday and found, first hand, that the people loved the outgoing governor, and were ready to, on their own, prove this point with their votes.

“Households were cooking for people like it was actually a festival and there was peace everywhere. Even with the heavy presence of military men, people went about their voting without issue. The turnout was massive,” he said.

“It was like Zonal rallies in many polling units. People waiting as early as 7.30am to cast their votes. We have never had such massive turnout before. In the past, they were always causing violence in Central,” Kogi NUJ Chairman, Adeiza Momojimoh said.

Another observer, Adanna Amaechi, who was in Igalamela, said on phone that the threats of violence, especially by the opposition parties, who threatened people against voting other tribes kept many people indoor and led to low voter turnout.

“Where we were, even those that said they had PVCs preferred to stay away. The violence recorded in the area in the past and the mode of campaign of the Social Democratic Party, in particular, scared people away from voting,” she stated.

“How would you be spreading fake news that they are planning to kill people and expect your people to turnout. We warned them that time that they would use this their style to affect us. They thought we didn’t like SDP,” a supporter of the Igala Agenda, who asked not to be named, said.

Imo Election: NSCDC Operative Accuses Governor Uzodimma's Aide, Nwaneri Of Attacking Security Agents, Taking Away Their Rifles, Phones FILE

Imo Election: NSCDC Operative Accuses Governor Uzodimma's Aide, Nwaneri Of Attacking Security Agents, Taking Away Their Rifles, Phones

The attack, it was gathered, happened when the NSCDC personnel stopped them from gaining access to a polling unit at Obinocha Town Hall to prevent electoral malpractices after the residents rejected N4000 the APC agents were allegedly offering to voters to vote the incumbent governor.

The Special Adviser to Governor Hope Uzodimma on Special Duties, Chinasa Nwaneri, has been accused of leading over 20 soldiers and policemen to attack officials of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and seize their AK-47 rifle magazines and phones during the Imo State governorship at Obinocha in the Nkwere local government area.

The attack, it was gathered, happened when the NSCDC personnel stopped them from gaining access to a polling unit at Obinocha Town Hall to prevent electoral malpractices after the residents rejected N4000 the APC agents were allegedly offering to voters to vote the incumbent governor.

One of NSCDC operatives, whose rifle magazine was seized, told journalists shortly after the incident how everything transpired.

According to the NSCDC official, one Chinasa Nwaneri came with over 20 armed soldiers with some policemen led by one Inspector 'Kill and Bury' to the polling unit to attack voters but when they were prevented they attacked them and took away his 40 rounds of AK 47 rifle magazine and phones of his senior officers who recorded the scene.

The officer said, "The NSCDC Divisional Officer of Nkwere zone and my humble self were attacked by Chinasa Nwaneri with soldiers of the Nigerian Army and policemen working for the All Progressives Congress (APC). They took his phone and collected my double magazine that contained 40 rounds because we breached them after all of them were going inside the election hall with rifles.

"The person that came with them known as Oyi Chinasa Nwanweri was inside an armoured personnel carrier clearly written donated by Governor Hope Uzodimma. Chinasa sends 'kill and bury' with his men to come here and destroy this place but because we were able to hold them back they now attacked us.

"The person that brought them was one Chisom Ojukwu, a House of Representatives member representing Nkwere. He came in first and made calls. The 'Kill and Bury' is an Inspector of the Nigerian Police Force."

Meanwhile, all the efforts to speak with Nwaneri and the police authorities in Imo State were unsuccessful.
Neither Nwaneri nor the Command's spokesperson, ASP Henry Okoye answered their calls or respond to text message inquiry as at the time of filing this report.

Guber polls: Tension in Imo, Kogi as Presidency abandons Uzodinma, Bello

Guber polls: Tension in Imo, Kogi as Presidency abandons Uzodinma, Bello

Yaya Bello
There are very strong indications that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress, APC national leadership may have abandoned the second term bid of the Imo State governor, Hope Uzodinma and Yaya Bello of Kogi State in today’s governorship elections in their States.

Bello is in the race by proxy having nominated his candidate, APC’s Mr Ododo, who is from Okene Local Government Area.

According to sources, APC had zoning arrangement but the nomination from the same LGA that produced the outgoing Governor Bello, squared Bello with the Abuja APC and its national leadership including the presidency.

According to Presidency sources, Bello’s stiffness in changing the template in Kogi made Ododo’s candidature a tough sell to voters in the two other districts.

A competent source said Tinubu jetted out to Saudi Arabia for a bilateral summit with the Saud’s authorities and wouldn’t want to be around during the elections.

It was gathered that Tinubu is not interested in the Imo and Kogi governorship elections because of the demeanours of Uzodinma and Yaya Bello.

According to our source, Tinubu was not happy for the role played by the two governors during his attempt to be President under the umbrella of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Our source in Abuja told Saturday Times that Yaya Bello and Uzodinma were against the candidature of Tinubu, as presidential candidate of the APC, and worked against him but Tinubu won the primaries eventually.

While Bello opted to contest the APC primary and refused to step down for Tinubu, Uzodinma joined forces with the former Senate President, Ahmed Lawan’s candidacy and played a critical role in the primaries.

Tinubu fought gallantly to win the primary election and defeated the former Senate President Ahmed Lawan, former Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, Ogbonnaya Onu, Emeka Nwajuba, while others stepped down for him.

Trouble started for Uzodinma, when the Inspector General of Police, IGP, withdrew the commissioner of Police in Imo and redeployed him to Force Headquarters, Abuja.

It was gathered that Uzodinma has not been frequently visiting the Presidential Villa as he used to visit during the former President Mohammedu Buhari’s administration on account of this.

Our source said for the Supreme Court to try to revisit or review the Supreme Court judgement that brought Uzodinma to power is an indication that he is under probe by the present government who wants to rewrite the wrong in Imo State and solve the problem of insecurity in the state.

In Kogi State, it was gathered that the presidency is secretly backing the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, who supported President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the APC’s presidential primary.

Alhaji Murtala Ajaka, SDP governorship candidate in Kogi was said to have bought campaign vehicles for Tinubu’s campaign and worked assiduously for his victory in the state.

Ajaka hails from Igalamela LGA in Kogi East Senatorial district. The zone is known for its large vote delivery and may determine the winner on November 11.

It was gathered that Ajaka delivered his zone to APC during Tinubu’s election and with him working for Tinubu’s victory, he is seen as the President’s candidate in Kogi.

According to APC supporter in Kogi, Bello withdrew his campaign vehicles and never donated them for Tinubu’s campaign because he failed the primaries

Also, the presidency refused to attend the final campaign of all the APC governorship candidate in Kogi, Imo and Bayelsa States to give them presidential support and encouragement.

Just yesterday, a television station allegedly owned by Tinubu before he became the President, TVC, purportedly disowned a news video item allegedly emanating from Uzodinma stating that PDP candidate, Sam Jones had stepped down for Uzodinma.

Dumebi Ifeanyichukwu, Director, New Media, SamJones Governorship Campaign, addressed the issue of a malicious video circulating, falsely claiming that their esteemed candidate, Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu, has withdrawn from the gubernatorial race.

“We emphatically state that this information is categorically false. After a thorough examination of the video, it became evident that it was heavily edited with manipulated audio to mislead the public.

“This video circulated by agents of the outgoing Uzodinma administration is incontrovertible proof of the palpable fear that has engulfed their camp due to the widespread endorsement of Senator Anyanwu’s Gubernatorial Bid and the Federal Government’s Commitment to ensuring free and fair elections in Imo.

“We call on the general public to disregard the video.”

Meanwhile, the TVC has threatened to drag Uzodinma, APC to court if he failed to withdraw the malicious video which the station purportedly used on its news bulletin.

The management of TVC, allegedly gave Imo state government 24 hours to withdraw the video and apologise to the media establishment or risk legal suit.

A letter with the caption, “Fraudulent Use of TVC Name, logo and inscription by Governor Uzodinma of Imo state: An Unwholesome and Distasteful Desperation to Retain Power” and signed by the station’s Director of Operations, Tunji Olumide.

Uzodinma was given 24 hours to withdraw the fake video or be dragged to court for criminal impersonation.

Meanwhile, the Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, has apologised to the NLC for the brutal treatment given to NLC president Comrade Joe Ajaero, stating that it’s regrettable.

Ajaero was last week brutalised by men alleged to be loyal to Uzodinma in connivance with the Imo State Police command.

But the Imo Police command debunked the rumour, stating that it took Ajaero into protective custody after receiving intel of planned mob action against the union’s leader.

Speaking during an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today on Thursday, Uzodimma said the attack on Ajaero is regrettable to him and the government, insisting he would never support violence

The Governor also apologised to the NLC president, urging him to act more civilly.

He said, “I was unaware that the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) president was in my state. What I did was that to condemn the action. I have never had disagreement with the labour union.”

“It has nothing to do with my government. Whether Joe Ajaero is the President of NLC or not, I will not wish this to happen to any human being. Of course I have to apologise because it happened in my state.

“Iam a Christian and believe in God. I can’t support violence. I can never support violence. Whatever happened to Joe Ajaero in my state which I am not aware of that led to him being assaulted must be regretted by both my government and myself.

“Going forward I will also like him to do things in a more civilised manner. That was the point I was making. A man who is from my state to go on street without clearing me out; without bringing all the allegations before me…”

The Supreme Court has upheld the validity of old notes amid a controversy surrounding the Naira redesign policy.
The CBN has encouraged the public to embrace alternative modes of payment, including electronic transfers and mobile money.
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has directed all of its branches to keep printing plenty of old and redesigned naira notes for deposit money banks.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Isa AbdulMumin, the Director of Corporate Communications at CBN, revealed this information.

The country’s top bank also denied reports that there was a cash shortage in certain of the nation’s cities.

CBN restated that Naira notes are adequately available at all of its locations around the country.

“Our attention has again been drawn to reports of a scarcity of cash across some major cities in the country despite assurances of sufficient cash stocks in all locations across the country.

“We wish to restate that all denominations of banknotes issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) remain legal tender. In line with Section 20(5) of the CBN Act, 2007, no one should refuse to accept the Naira as a means of payment.

“Public members are advised to accept all CBN-issued banknotes currently in circulation and guard against panic withdrawals.

“We reaffirm that sufficient stock of currency notes facilitates normal economic activities. Furthermore, to reduce the pressure on the use of physical cash, members of the public are again advised to continue to embrace alternative modes of payment”, CBN stated.

Members of the public are getting apprehensive as the 31st December deadline for the validity of N200, N500 and N1000 naira notes draws near.

Recall that in March, the Supreme Court affirmed the validity of the old notes amid the controversy which clouded the Naira redesign policy.
