2027: I’ll merge with PDP if… — Peter Obi

2027: I’ll merge with PDP if… — Peter Obi

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 elections, has outlined specific conditions under which he would consider a merger between his party and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2027 elections.

Speaking during an interview with NoireTV over the weekend, Obi emphasised that any merger must prioritise the greater good of Nigeria.

Responding to a statement by Atiku Abubakar, the PDP presidential candidate and former vice president, who hinted at the possibility of a merger, Obi stressed that such an alliance must be centred on improving governance and aiding the poor, rather than merely aiming to win elections or gain state control.

“I commend Atiku for his statement, especially where he said he will support me if it goes to the South East,” Obi said.

“On the issue of a merger and the coming together of parties, I have always said that as long as any merger or any coming together is to better Nigeria and for governing properly, I am for it.

“If it is just a merger for election or state capture, I’m not for it. I am not desperate to be president, I am desperate to see Nigeria work, especially for the poor, because we have a lot of potential.”

Obi further elaborated on his conditions, stating, “So, if the merger is to be able to govern Nigeria properly on all those things that will make Nigeria a better place, I am for it.

“If the merger is to be able to govern Nigeria properly and work for all those things that would make Nigeria become a better place, I am for it.

“It might be at the party level, it might be at the individual level or at any level, we must come together to be able to build a better Nigeria.”

After demolishing Landmark beachfront, FG discontinues Lagos-Calabar Highway realignment, cites submarine cables

Nigeria’s Federal Government has announced its decision to stop the proposed Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway realignment due to presence of submarine cables along the route.

David Umahi, the minister of works, who disclosed this at the 3rd Stakeholders Meeting in Lagos on Thursday, said the proposed diversion would no longer occur due to the submarine cables along the coastline.

Umahi also announced that the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) would not be available, citing Section 15 (b) of the Freedom of Information Act to support the government’s decision to withhold certain information from the press and public.

News continues after this Advertisement

The Section Umahi cited is the exception of third-party information, which allows government institutions to deny journalists or the public access to information.

Meanwhile, the announcement comes after the telecommunication companies warned the government of the possibility of network outage in the country if the diversion is not reconsidered.

The government has since decided not to proceed with the diversion, which would affect connectivity to the internet in the country and lead to the demolition of ancestral homes in the Okun-Ajah community.

In a video posted by journalist Laila Johnson-Salami, members of the Okun-Ajah community were seen praising the Tinubu-led administration for its decision not to use the route.

The government is now considering alternatives to ensure the continuation of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, despite previous demolitions that affected the beachfront of private businesses, including Landmark.

“Apologize to white garment churches within 14 days, or you will visit our God” – Celestial Prophet tells Pastor David Ibiyeomie (Video)
A prophet of the Celestial Church of Christ has given the founder of Salvation Ministries, Pastor David Ibiyeomie, 14 days to apologize for his recent comment about white garment churches or face dire consequences.

A few days ago, Port Harcourt-based clergyman David Ibiyeomie, in a video that went viral, expressed his dislike for white garment churches.

Speaking during a sermon in his church, the televangelist shared his opinion of white garment churches, noting that many would have a negative opinion of them if they knew what takes place in their churches.

“Do you know why I hate white garment churches? People don’t know why I hate them. If you know what they do, you will never like them. They can take your surname and put it inside a bottle of gin and make incantations.”

“That’s how they do it. All these yeye prophets will take the name of somebody and put it inside the local gin and read all those demonic Psalms in it,” Ibiyeomie said.

The incident was reported by Adejoke Lasisi, founder of Planet 3R, in a post on her Facebook page on Sunday, May 19, 2024.

According to Lasisi, some of the parents borrowed money to pay the fees, only to discover their children had not been registered for the exams.

She said the proprietor collected ₦95,000 each from a multitude of students to help them register for WAEC and NECO, while some paid up to ₦100,000 with a promise to also register them for UTME.

Adeyemo reportedly sold his properties, including the school and his house, to facilitate his relocation to a yet-to-be-known foreign country.

"I heard he sold his house, school and all properties in order to travel abroad.

He just ruined those students' lives for his selfish gain, some might not be able to pay for another exam next year.

"Imagine, having an extra year before getting admitted into higher institution gangan," she narrated.

She lamented that the school owner, who run “The Lord’s Favour” school for over 20 years, left the students in limbo and betrayed parents' trust by using their money to flee the country.

Lasisi, who was outraged by the incident, also narrated a personal experience where her younger brother was affected by a similar dubious act, but the family managed to raise funds for him to meet up with registration.

The Planet 3R founder said that though people have the right to travel abroad, such an endeavour shouldn't be done at the expense of other people's sweat.

She appealed to Nigerians to help track down the man so that he could be sent back to Nigeria to answer for the alleged crime.

The suspects: Usman Gide Ali, 25 and Abdulrahaman Amadu, 28 met their waterloo following a raid by the troops of 93 Battalion Sub-Sector 3B OPWS, stationed at Forward Operating Base Wukari, in Taraba State.

The troops, acting on a tip-off raided the Chinkai Village of Wukari Local Government Area of the state where the duo were apprehended.

“Upon their arrest, the suspects attempted to bribe the troops with 2 million Naira for their release.

“However, the soldiers staunchly refused the bribe, underscoring their dedication to justice and integrity.

“The suspects were also overheard stating that if money failed to secure their freedom, their associates would resort to armed means to rescue them from custody,” the Army said.

In a similar development, troops stationed at Sarikin Kudu of the state arrested four more suspected kidnappers.

LAGOS-CALABAR COASTAL HIGHWAY: OKUN-AJAH COMMUNITY CRIES OUT OVER ALLEGED ILLEGAL DEMOLITION OF 2,000 HOMES

LAGOS-CALABAR COASTAL HIGHWAY: OKUN-AJAH COMMUNITY CRIES OUT OVER ALLEGED ILLEGAL DEMOLITION OF 2,000 HOMES

The Okun-Ajah Community has cried out to the Federal and Lagos State government to rescue it from an alleged illegal variation of the controversial Lagos-Calabar coastal highway contract route that has put 2000 homes in the area at risk of imminent demolition.

The community through its traditional ruler, the Baale Chief (Alh) Sikiru Olukesi Okanlawon and its secretary Balogun Kamorudeen alleged that this “injustice and injury” is about to be inflicted on them by the Federal Ministry of Works.

The 700-kilometre stretch of road infrastructure, which will span eight years to complete, will gulp a staggering N15 trillion.

The pilot phase of the construction has started at the Eko Atlantic City and it will terminate at Lekki Deep Seaport, for which N1.06 trillion has already been released. It is a highway of 10 lanes, which will cost N4 billion per kilometre, and would be the first of its kind in Africa, says the Minister of Works, David Umahi.

But many property owners and communities have accused the ministry of unfair and sometimes outright illegal delineation of property to be demolished for the road construction.

The community raised its alarm Saturday in a press release, calling on President Bola Tinubu, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, lawmakers representing the Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State and the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), among others, to come to its rescue.

It said: “Sometime in the year 2006 the Okun-Ajah Community was granted a Certificate of Occupancy over their communal land in Okun-Ajah. The Survey Plan attached to the Certificate of Occupancy clearly depicted the portion of the communal land earmarked for the then proposed coastal road. Knowing full well that that portion of their land had been committed to a federal project, members of the community avoided building on the right of way earmarked for the coastal road.

“The Minister of Works, however, changed the original road alignment because many people had illegally built on the right of way. The second road alignment was much more relatively free from building development as only five houses had been erected on that road alignment while the rest of the route is vacant land.

“Surprisingly, the Minister of Works has again changed the second road alignment because some of the owners of the five buildings and the vacant lands on that road alignment are influential personalities. He has now redirected the road alignment to the residential part of Okun-Ajah Community which will lead to the demolition of over 2000 houses including our ancestral homes and our Oba’s palace.

“The pertinent question that we want the Minister of Works to answer to the whole nation is why should the houses of over 2000 people who did not build on the age-long right of way be destroyed because the Minister wants to save five houses and vacant lands? Why? The action of the Minister is certainly not in the interest of peace, order, and good government of Nigeria in general and Lagos State in particular as envisaged by sectioris 4 and 5 of the Constitution of Nigeria.

“This is the reason the Okun-Ajah people are calling on Nigerians’ to prevail on the Minister to reconsider his proposed action. The Okun-Ajah people are also calling on President Tinubu to urgently investigate the circumstances leading to the jettisoning of the second road alignment which is much more free of building development and the adoption of the third road alignment which will lead to the demolition of over 2000 houses and the Baale’s palace.”

It also urged the the Inspector-General of Police and the National Security Adviser not to allow law enforcement agents “to be used to inflict harm on the people of Okun-Ajah because our people are prepared to defend their community against the proposed onslaught of the Minister.

HOUSE OF ODUDUWA DISOWNS THE ONLINE SELF ACCLAIMED SON OF OONI OGUNWUSI

HOUSE OF ODUDUWA DISOWNS THE ONLINE SELF ACCLAIMED SON OF OONI OGUNWUSI

Our attention has been drawn to a an amateur video clip featuring a grown up individual claiming to be a son of our father Arole Oodua Olofin Adimula Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja ll, the Ooni of Ife, virally trending across various online platforms. We categorically condemns and denounces this shameless act of impersonation in the strongest possible terms.

It is imperative to clarify that the Ooni of Ife, as a responsible father and custodian of tradition, knows and acknowledges all his children and stops at nothing to take full responsibilities over them(both those who are in Nigeria and outside the country).

As all of Ooni’s children are well known to the palace and the people of Ile-Ife, the eldest child of the Ooni is Princess Adeola Ogunwusi, a Master Degree holder working and residing in Canada, followed by Princess Adewamiwa Ogunwusi who recently relocated to further her education in Dublin, Ireland from where she had come 3 years ago for her secondary school education in her home country Nigeria. Princess Adesewa is doing very well, Prince Tadenikawo Ogunwusi is widely known to be with his mother hale and healthy while the new born twins Prince Adebisi Kehinde and Princess Taiwo Adeayo are being planned to formally make their historic entry into the palace in a couple of days in accordance with the customs and traditions of the Ife Palace.

We hereby declare with no equivocation that this self acclaimed prince is unknown to the Palace and the Ile-Ife populace. Not only he is not a child of Ooni Ogunwusi as fraudulently claimed, but also never related in any way to any lineage of the Ogunwusi royal family and the Giesi Royal Compound of Ile-Ife at large.

His marauding impersonation tactics to exploit the revered status of the Ooni of Ife for fraudulent personal gains is not only sacrilegious but also criminal in nature. Impersonation of any member of the royal family is a sacrilege against the sanctity of the palace and the heritage it represents.

While the Palace leaves no stone unturned to go after this criminal using all possible means to scapegoat him with a view to making him face the law for necessary deterrence, we here urge the law enforcement agencies, particularly the Nigerian Police Force and Department of State Security (DSS), to thoroughly investigate this matter and bring the perpetrator to justice as swiftly as possible.

In assisting the law enforcement agencies on this project, any individual with useful information pertaining to the whereabouts of this impersonating marauder is implored to cooperate fully with the security authorities or the Ooni’s Palace to ensure that justice prevails as such a patriotic whistleblower’s identity is well protected in utmost secrecy and handsomely rewarded by the Ooni’s palace. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!

Furthermore, the Palace calls upon all individuals, to refrain from engaging in or promoting such deceptive practices. It is incumbent upon us all to uphold the dignity and honour of our cultural heritage, which includes respecting the integrity of the royal family.

The House of Oduduwa remains committed to preserving the rich cultural heritage of the Yoruba people and will not tolerate any attempt to undermine or tarnish its legacy through fraudulent means.

Signed

Otunba Moses Olafare,

Director, Media & Public Affairs,Ooni’s Palace.

Why The C&S Church Is Different From Others

Why The C&S Church Is Different From Others

Rev. Mother ESTHER AJAYI

This is the story of the Cherubim & Seraphim Church. It has a very rich history and many do not know that the C&S Church is part of the move and visitation of the Holy Spirit to many parts of the world during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.

The C&S Church started simply as a group of believers who believe in the Power and Efficacy of prayers. At the beginning, there was no name given to the group. Later, as the number grew and registration became imminent, the group resorted to prayer and fasting in search of a suitable name. After a few days of praying and fasting, a visioner in the group saw the letter ‘SE’ in the sky with the rest of the world being obscured by cloud. Later another set appeared

a ‘RA’ in the same manner.

Upon investigation, a clergyman from the United Native African Church helped to interpret the combination as ‘SERAFU’ (SERAPH).

Upon hearing the interpretation, the Founder, Baba Aladura Orimolade rose and stood in the middle of the assembly room, turned to the four corner of the room and pronounced; ‘In the name of the Father, and of the on and of the Holy Ghost, this Society will be called “SERAFU:”

The whole assembly then rose and shouted ‘Alleluyah’ signifying unanimous acceptance and approval with joy. Thus, the group became known first as ‘Egbe Serafu’ (Seraphim Society).

Through vision and directive at a later time, Archangel Michael was named as Captain and Patron Saint of the Society.

Later on after naming of the group as ‘Seraphim Society; a woman narrated her dream relating to the name. In her dream, she saw a large company of young children dressed in beautiful white garments, and she was instructed that the name ‘KERUBU’ (Cherubim) should be added to the name because KERUBU & SERAFU (Cherubim and Seraphim) are like twin angels in heaven who should not be separated.

Thereupon, the society was renamed Cherubim & Seraphim Society. Thus, it became widely recognised that the C&S is the only church whose name came through vision and can be identified functionally in the Bible, especially with the affinity of Cherubim & Seraphim with the Throne of Almighty God. Moreover, the group became the first Christian body whose members are all robed in white garments in Nigeria.

The wearing of white garments can theologically be viewed as apocalyptic because the Lord’s Prayer says, ‘Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.’ This quote from the Lord’s Prayer is comely, especially for the Cherubim & Seraphim, who in heaven are robed in whites (Rev. 7: 13-15).

Cherubim and Seraphim church began to worship as a Christian body on Wednesday the 9th of September, 1925. It is commonly believed by members that the, Lord God Himself established the church here on earth through Moses Orimolade Tunolase of the blessed memory with Captain Abiodun Emmanbel, who was then a young lady but whose seven day trance actually marked the beginning of what is known as the Cherubim & Seraphim church.

They are united under the Unification of C&S churches council. The head of this Unification is His Most Eminence Prophet (Dr.) Solomon Adegboyega Alao (Supreme Head of C&S).

Sacred, Eternal, Aladura and Movement are all one under the Unification Council, and the church is focused in Christ with no division,

Lately, there have been drives to modernise and brand the’ church in order to encourage more youth into the church and also dispel some negative schools of thought about the church through seminars, all-inclusive forms of worship, use of the English Language in service and revivals across the world to showcase the Biblical authenticity of the church.
