PLATEAU MASSACRE: We Pretended To Be Dead; My Son Tried To Crawl Away, They Killed Him – Survivor

PLATEAU MASSACRE: We Pretended To Be Dead; My Son Tried To Crawl Away, They Killed Him – Survivor

For the umpteenth time, violence was visited in over 30 communities across the Bokkos, Mangu, and Barkin Ladi local government areas in Plateau State. By the time the dust settled, almost 200 persons were killed, over 1,000 houses burnt and in Bokkos Local Government Area alone, 88 persons were injured and hospitalized.

From December 23rd to 25th, several communities across the three local government areas were razed. These communities include Mutfet, Ndun, Sanyan, Kyong, Kop Mandarken, Lunghai, Chirang, Makundang, Fashar, Garau, Mbong, Tahore, Tamiso, Wang, Hirpiya, Butura Kampani, Maijankai, Dares, Kamluk, Sundul, Garah Mushere, Kambar Mupeli, Mbar Fiton, Daruwat, Hurum, Mai Yanga, NTV, Lar’apya and others. When Saturday visited some of the survivors who are mostly in Wards 5 and 8 of the Jos University Teaching Hospital, JUTH they recounted their harrowing experiences.

Survivors’ account

One of the survivors, Mrs Uren Matthew who lost her son in the incident said, “I am from Chirang, we were preparing for Christmas which we never celebrated. We heard that Fulani were attacking many communities, so we were apprehensive. When night fell, we were preparing to go and hide near the stream but we did not know they were there already. “As we got there, they swooped on us and there was confusion as everyone was running. I got a cut on my hand as I was trying to block the machete they were using on us. My son and I were attacked so we pretended to be dead. “My son was also quiet for some time, but as he made an effort to crawl away, they noticed that he was not dead so they used a stone to hit him on the head and he died. I only survived because I pretended that I was dead so they left me.”

Mercy Makut from the same community said she also ran to the same stream area to hide but she met her attackers there “They were shooting some people and cutting others with machete. I also received a cut on my hand. As I was trying to run, my two-month-old baby fell from my back and I did not even know that the baby had fallen off my back. “A woman in the village helped me to pick the baby, so as I was making an effort to go back to the stream to find my baby, someone advised me not to take the risk but I thank God as I was making my way there, I was told that one woman picked the baby. I later found the baby and we were brought to the hospital.”

In his own account, Evangelist John Mahan from Mabor who lost a close friend and Church members said, “It was Christmas Eve and we were preparing for a vigil in the Church which was to start by 6 pm. “By 5.30 pm, I was in the Church to prepare when I heard sounds of gunshots. We came out to check the direction of the gunshots, and that was when we saw people running that neighbouring communities like Lunghai, Tahore, Chirang, Tamiso, and others were under attack. “We had to start looking a safe place but before we knew it, gunshots were just everywhere. As I speak with you, my personal friend and more than 20 members of our Church were killed and the communities destroyed.”

“The people are in the open, even though the adults have lost their appetite but the children are hungry. Before you know it, the appetite will return so everyone who can help, especially the government should make food and shelter available. The people are sleeping in a very bad situation with the cold now.”

Recall that the victims have been given mass burial and the representatives of the federal, State, and local governments have visited the survivors. But the people are saying enough is enough of empty promises as they appealed that the three tiers of government should collaborate and ensure that this time, the perpetrators are brought to book.

The Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima who visited the survivors in Bokkos in the company of the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, Chief of Defense Staff, General Christopher Musa, among others said that the Federal Government would ensure that the perpetrators are brought to book.

He maintained that President Tinubu was deeply shaken by the incident and would not allow the attack to persist under his watch.

According to him, “President Tinubu is deeply shaken by these killings on the Plateau State, the inter-community violence will not be allowed to persist under our watch. We are resolute in our commitment to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to book. The government is here to deliver justice. “Please accept our deepest apologies because we won’t rest until you access justice and until you are safe. We will harness all our resources to bring those responsible to justice. We will not rest until we can prevent the recurrence of these heinous acts.

“Your blood, your tears, and your cries stain our collective conscience. We are here for you, we are here, resolute in our commitment to ensure that the perpetrators of these mindless killings face the full force of the law. This violence persists due to this dangerous practice of treating criminals as ambassadors of their group, where the law is taken into our hands, and where protection fails. But this is not the case now. This is a promise.”

The State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang who has demonstrated commitment to see an end to the cycle of violence reiterated that “This administration is determined to halt the persistent violence and perpetrators brought to justice.” The citizens however prayed that these promises would not go unfulfilled like others.

I met my husband in Enugu, he was a youth corper then in Enugu. I was also posted to Enugu. Betty Akeredolu

"I met my husband in Enugu, he was a youth corper then in Enugu. I was also posted to Enugu. So a friend of mine visited me and she came along with her boyfriend who also came along with my husband. That was how we met and it was love at first sight.

I think people frown at love at first sight but it worked for us.I fell in love with his broad shoulders. Then he was really looking very cute. I can still remember what he was wearing that day – a red shirt, long sleeves and jeans trousers. That was 37 years ago. He couldn’t even take me out because he didn’t have money as a youth corper. It was quite magnetic and that was it.

There is a 3-year age difference between us. I am older than him anyway. I was like 25 then while he was 22. It was love that really endured. I had graduated and in my place (Owerri) when a girl graduates from the University suitors come from left, right and centre. And your parents would expect you to go for a made man with everything, but I have always known that there was no way I could have married a self-made man. I will better build a home from the scratch with you because I want to have a say in my home"

Tasks Tinubu to address Economic Hardship

The Nigerian Guild of Investigative Journalists (NGIJ) wishes to express its deepest condolences to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the good people of Ondo, Kano States and Nigerians in general over the demise of the Ondo State governor, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu and former Speaker of House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ghali Umaru Na’aba. We share in your grief and stand with you during this difficult time.

In a statement jointly signed by the President and National Secretary of Nigerian Guild of Investigative Journalists, NGIJ Ayodele Mojoyin and Abdulrahman Aliagan respectively and made available to Journalists.

According to the statement, “We expressed our deep sadness over the passing of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu and former Speaker of House of Representatives, Alhaji Umaru Ghali Na’aba.

“Akeredolu was a dedicated leader who tirelessly worked for the progress and development of Ondo State. His commitment to public service and dedication to the welfare of his people will always be remembered. His demise is a great loss to Ondo State, and his contributions will be sorely missed.

We also mourn the loss of Alhaji Ghali Umaru Na'aba, a respected statesman and former Speaker of the House of Representatives. His profound leadership skills, passion for good governance, and substantial contributions to our democracy will always be remembered. His demise is a significant loss to our nation, and his absence will be deeply felt.

During this period of mourning, we urge the people of Ondo, Kano States and the nation at large to stay united and support one another. Let us remember the legacies of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu and Alhaji Ghali Umaru Na'aba, and strive to uphold the ideals they stood for. Together, we can honor their memories by working towards a better Nigeria.

Amidst these moments of mourning and transition, we cannot overlook the pressing issues of justice and accountability in our nation. NGIJ stands firm in demanding justice for the senseless killing of 195 innocent citizens in Plateau State. These heinous acts cannot go unpunished, and we call on the relevant authorities to ensure that the perpetrators are swiftly apprehended and brought to justice.

“We are deeply concerned about the recurring incidents of airstrike, particularly the Tundun Biri tragedy recently. We implore President Tinubu to urgently unravel the root causes and those responsible for these incidents. The safety and security of Nigerians should never be compromised, and it is the responsibility of our leaders to ensure the utmost safety and wellbeing of our citizens.

We therefore, bring to the attention of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu the dire economic hardship faced by Nigerians. The current economic climate has brought about immense challenges for our people, and we urge the President to prioritize driving economic policies that will bring about tangible and permanent relief. It is imperative that the government takes decisive action to uplift the livelihoods of Nigerians and create opportunities for sustainable economic growth.

NGIJ extends its sincere commendation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the resuscitation of Port Harcourt refinery and the launching of Dangote refinery in Lagos; it is our hope and believes that the two refineries will lead to cushioning the effect of unbearable cost of fuel and ameliorate the sufferings of Nigerians.

Without any doubt, the BAT-led administration appears to be a paradigm shift in the development of infrastructures, which is one of the critical questions to National development.

OLAWEPO-HASHIM CONDEMNS CHRISTMAS-DAY KILLINGS IN PLATEAU STATE, CALLS FOR RAPID SECURITY REFORMS TO HALT BLOOD LETTING

PRESS RELEASE

OLAWEPO-HASHIM CONDEMNS CHRISTMAS-DAY KILLINGS IN PLATEAU STATE, CALLS FOR RAPID SECURITY REFORMS TO HALT BLOOD LETTING

Monday 26 December, 2023, Abuja, Nigeria:

A former Presidential Candidate and a Chieftain of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Mr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim has condemned the Christmas Day gory killings of violence and blood-letting that occurred in some Local Government Areas of Plateau State, North Central Nigeria.

In a statement released by his Media Office in Abuja on Monday, Olawepo-Hashim lamented the recurring orgy of armed conflict and called for rapid security reform measures that would permanently arrest the unending waves of bloodletting at the local levels.

According to the frontline politician, “the cowardly killing of peaceful villagers in Barkin-Ladi and Bokos, some in their sleep on Christmas day shows there is no limit to the barbarism of some people who live amongst us. Same Christmas day, a medical doctor helping to provide community health services was kidnapped and killed in Oloru area in Moro local Government  of Kwara state.”

“How many lives need to be lost before rapid security reform measure that would permanently arrest the unending orgy of bloodletting at the local levels come into effect?” he asked.

As most Nigerians looked forward to the joy and happiness of Christmas Day, murderers on Sunday cowardly crept into different communities in two local governments of Plateau State and slaughtered about 72 persons in cold blood.

Even though the military said they responded to 36 distress calls from different locations in the last 48 hours, their efforts did not stop the killers from their bloodthirsty quest. A provisional toll by the local Red Cross reported 104 deaths in 18 villages in the Bokkos region.

Episodes of mass killing and destruction have occurred in Jos in 2001, 2002, 2008 and 2010. The violence has also affected other parts of the State, especially in rural areas outside of Jos when hundreds of people were killed in villages, in their fields, or while tending cattle.

The situation has defied several measures by past administrations to halt the trend. Many have blamed the crisis on many factors including disagreement over indigeneship, Jos ownership, politics, ignorance, religion, unemployment and sheer wickedness.

In order to break break the cycle of killings, Olawepo-Hashim counseled the government, at all levels, to address the root causes of the violence, which is being watered by an unhealthy tendency of inter-communal conflicts, disputes over land and resources and deep-seated ethnic tensions.

He equally maintained that perpetrators of these heinous crimes must be identified, apprehended, prosecuted swiftly and transparently, regardless of their affiliations or backgrounds. This according to him, will send a strong message that justice is sacrosanct and impunity will not be tolerated.

BREAKING: Ondo Governor, Akeredolu Dies After Prolonged Battle With Leukemia

The Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, is dead.

A family source told SaharaReporters on Wednesday that Akeredolu died in Lagos.

SaharaReporters learnt that he was managed by State House doctors up to his death because they could not fly him abroad.

“Akeredolu is dead; he died in Lagos,” the source said.

“They were looking for dialysis machines to be sent to his secret location in Lagos last week.”

He was 67 years old.

The ailing governor returned to Nigeria in September following a three-month medical leave in Germany and only recently proceeded on another one after he was directed by President Bola Tinubu to hand over power to his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

His deputy, Aiyedatiwa has been standing in as Acting Governor.

Following his return to Nigeria in September, Akeredolu stayed in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital and tried to govern his state from there, leading to public outrage.

On July 9, Akeredolu’s wife, Betty announced the suspension of activities lined up to celebrate her 70th birthday.

The Ondo first lady announced the suspension of the activities in Twitter posts after questions were raised over plans to have a fanfare despite her husband’s ill health.

“Hello Family and Friends. This is to inform you that all activities lined up to mark my 70th birthday are hereby suspended till further notice due to unforeseen circumstances beyond my control. Sorry for any inconvenience caused by this development.”

“Nevertheless, be assured that I will be celebrated in style upon my return. Thank you for your understanding. I remain Arabinrin a.k.a Ada Owere I,” she tweeted.

SaharaReporters exclusively reported in January that Akeredolu was treating leukemia.

“The governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu has leukemia, he is really down,” one of the sources in the Alagbaka Government House revealed at that time.

Leukemia is a cancer of the blood caused by a rise in the number of white blood cells in the body.

For sufferers, the white blood cells crowd out the red blood cells and platelets needed by the body to stay healthy.

White blood cells are potent infection fighters which grow and divide in an orderly way, as the body needs them. But in people with leukemia, the bone marrow produces an excessive amount of abnormal white blood cells, which don't function properly.

It is a cancer of blood-forming tissues that hinders the body’s ability to fight infections.

The types that exist include acute lymphoblastic leukemia, acute myeloid leukemia and chronic lymphocytic leukemia.

Treatment for leukemia can be complex depending on the type of leukemia and other factors.

However, some strategies and resources can help make treatment successful.

According to WebMD Cancer Center, its symptoms may include weakness or fatigue, bruising or bleeding easily, fever or chills, infections that are severe or keep coming back, and pain in your bones or joints.

Others may include headaches, vomiting, seizures, weight loss, night sweats, shortness of breath, and swollen lymph nodes or organs like the spleen.

Lagos Govt pull down street gates, warned landlordd and various community development associations (CDAs)

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) over the weekend warned landlords and various Community Development Associations (CDAs) to immediately comply with government regulations directing that all interlink roads must be accessible on a daily basis across the state.

The General Manager of LASTMA, Mr. Bakare Oki Olalekan, disclosed that those acting contrary to street-gate regulations were posing a great security threat to the government’s resolve to achieve a safe and secure environment. They are advised to desist from the unwholesome acts, Adebayo Taofiq, LASTMA Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department said in a statement on Sunday.

According to the statement, Oki disclosed further that the policy on street gates was meant to enable easy access for residents and all road users in the state, noting that the act of denying motorists and pedestrians access through the various community gates before the stipulated time is totally unacceptable to the state government.

“Traffic officers have been facing serious challenges in diverting motorists to alternative routes through nearby streets because these streets are gated,” the statement said.

The General Manager stressed that the illegal closure of gates, some of which are feeder roads to connect highways, also “contributes to the activities of criminally-minded individuals who indulge in dispossessing residents of their belongings, thereby making it difficult for security agencies come to the rescue of victims or apprehend the perpetrators”.

The act of partial or permanent closure of gates in violation of the regulations of the state affects businesses encourages miscreants to take advantage of residents and get away with their belongings and in case of fire outbreak the community affected will not be easily accessible by the Rescue teams,” the statement said.

Oki stated that non-conformity with government directives on the closure of estate/street gates might lead to issuing warrants of arrest and prosecution of representatives of non-complying communities, where necessary.

He added that activities of the affected communities had further contributed to vehicular traffic in those restricted areas where roads leading to the closed gates were inaccessible to the motoring public.

Parts Of The Body You Will Feel Pain If Blood Sugar Level Is Too High

Parts Of The Body You Will Feel Pain If Blood Sugar Level Is Too High

According to Healthline, High blood sugar, also known as hyperglycemia, is a condition that occurs when the glucose levels in the bloodstream exceed the normal range. This can happen due to various factors, such as poor diet, lack of physical activity, or inadequate insulin production or utilization

While the detrimental effects of high blood sugar on overall health are well-known, it is important to understand that it can also have a significant impact on specific parts of the body, leading to pain and discomfort. In this article, we will explore the parts of the body where you may experience pain if your blood sugar level is too high.

According to Mayoclinic, One of the most common areas where individuals with high blood sugar may experience pain is in their feet. This is often a result of peripheral neuropathy, a condition characterized by nerve damage.

The elevated glucose levels can cause damage to the nerves that supply the feet, leading to sensations of tingling, numbness, or sharp, shooting pains. This can significantly impact mobility and overall quality of life for those affected.

Another part of the body that may be affected by high blood sugar is the eyes. Prolonged periods of elevated glucose levels can lead to a condition known as diabetic retinopathy.

This occurs when the blood vessels in the retina become damaged, potentially causing vision problems and even blindness. People experiencing diabetic retinopathy may also feel pain or pressure in their eyes, indicating the need for immediate medical attention.

The kidneys, which play a crucial role in filtering waste from the blood, can also be affected by high blood sugar. When glucose levels are consistently elevated, the kidneys may have to work harder to eliminate excess sugar from the body.

Over time, this increased workload can lead to kidney damage, resulting in pain or discomfort in the lower back or sides. It is important for individuals with high blood sugar to monitor their kidney function regularly to detect any potential complications early on.

Furthermore, high blood sugar can impact the cardiovascular system, leading to various issues such as heart disease and peripheral artery disease. Individuals may experience chest pain, known as angina, due to reduced blood flow to the heart muscle. Additionally, reduced circulation in the extremities can cause pain and cramping in the legs, particularly during physical activity.

High blood sugar can have far-reaching effects on the body, often resulting in pain and discomfort in specific areas. Feet, eyes, kidneys, and the cardiovascular system are among the parts most commonly affected by elevated glucose levels.

It is crucial for individuals with diabetes or those at risk of developing the condition to closely monitor their blood sugar levels, adopt a healthy lifestyle, and seek medical advice to manage and prevent potential complications.

Early detection and appropriate management can significantly improve overall health and mitigate the risk of experiencing pain or discomfort associated with high blood sugar.

“I urge fellow Nigerians to appropriate the hope that comes with Christmas and reinvest trust in God’s ability to restore the lost glory of Nigeria”

He equally admonished Nigerians to reflect on the lessons of the period and emulate Christ by fostering peace and unity in our Nation, while also tasking Nigerians on religious tolerance “since it is one way we as citizens can live in peace, harmony and love as taught by Jesus Christ, who is the reason for the season.”

“More importantly, as we observe Christmas this year, let us all imbibe the essential message of Christ’s ministry and truly begin to love our fellow Nigerians as we love ourselves," Olawepo-Hashim added.

Harmony Gardens Sets a Benchmark in Real Estate Allocation, Delighting Customers

Harmony Gardens Sets a Benchmark in Real Estate Allocation, Delighting Customers

In a remarkable event that unfolded on the 20th of December 2023, Harmony Gardens and Estate Development LTD, a leading real estate company in Nigeria, demonstrated a stark departure from industry norms by allocating land to its  customers.

The allocation ceremony, which took place at multiple prestigious locations including Lekki Aviation Town, Harmony Casa, Crestview, Harmony Ville, Granville, and Harmony Crestville, left realtors and customers beaming with satisfaction.

The distinguishing factor that sets Harmony Gardens apart from other real estate entities became apparent as the company allocated land to 80% of its customers, who are now poised to commence building on their plots come January. This gesture of transparency and commitment to fulfilling promises stands in contrast to the prevalent issues faced by customers of some self-proclaimed real estate companies, where funds are collected without a subsequent allocation of land.

Customers, eager to share their positive experiences, offered testimonials underscoring the integrity and trustworthiness of Harmony Gardens and Estate Development LTD. They expressed gratitude for a seamless process that lived up to the company's reputation, highlighting that Harmony Gardens has successfully averted the pitfalls that often lead to social media scandals for other real estate firms.

Hon. Saheed Audullahi Mosadoluwa, popularly known as Mr. Ibile and the Chairman of Harmony Gardens, shed light on the company's unique approach. With over 18 years of experience in the industry, he emphasized the significance of investing hard-earned money in acquiring land, coupled with the acquisition of the necessary knowledge to differentiate Harmony Gardens from the competition.

Mr. Ibile addressed a common concern in the industry, stating that Harmony Gardens owns the land it puts on the market, eliminating the often-contentious issue of Omo Onile. He assured customers that their allocated land remains secure, emphasizing the company's commitment to delivering on promises even after many years. According to him, the key difference lies in the company's ownership and control of the land, ensuring customers' peace of mind and a unique level of trust in the real estate market.

Harmony Gardens and Estate Development LTD's successful land allocation event serves as a testament to its commitment to customer satisfaction, transparency, and ethical business practices. As the real estate industry faces scrutiny, Harmony Gardens emerges as a beacon of integrity, setting a new standard for customer-centric operations and solidifying its position as a trustworthy player in the Nigerian real estate landscape.

Missing nine-year-old Lagos boy found

Missing nine-year-old Lagos boy found

A nine-year-old boy, Emmanuel Adeyemi, who was reported missing in Lagos, has been found.

It was on December 13 reported that Emmanuel was nowhere to be found on November 19 when his father, Olasunkanmi Adeyemi, lamented his sudden disappearance while on an evangelical outreach in the Orile-Agege area of the state.

Adeyemi, who disclosed to our correspondent that the case was reported at the Elere Police Station in the Agege area, said the police had yet to ascertain the missing boy’s whereabouts.

It was gathered that following the report, Emmanuel was, on Monday, found at an orphanage home in Ikotun in the Alimosho Local Government Area of the state.

It was learnt that the boy was rescued by the officials of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps, formerly known as “Kick Against Indiscipline”, after he was allegedly dropped off in a tricycle with his eyes covered and people assembled to look at him.

He was thereafter taken to the Ikotun Police Station, Alimosho, Lagos.

Reacting to the new development, Adeyemi said, “I got a call from “KAI” officials on Monday. When I got to their office, I was told that the boy had been found. According to what they told me, the boy was dropped off in a tricycle and many people gathered looking at him. Some of the “KAI” officials who saw the gathering went to the scene and thereafter took him and handed him over to the police.

“They saw the missing child’s picture because it was posted on social media. They said they were amazed that this was the missing child that was taken to the police station. In his picture, they saw my mobile number and called me,” he said.

He said they went to the orphanage where his child was kept and found him there. “After his release, we went to the Ikeja Police Station to inform them that we’ve found the child,” he declared.

The state PPRO, Benjamin Hundeyin, could not be reached for reaction as calls made to his phone rang out but was not answered.

Also, a message sent to his line was yet to be responded to as of the time of filing this story.

invited Portable, Pasuma to our event to win souls– Lagos cleric insists on not canceling invitation

I invited Portable, Pasuma to our event to win souls– Lagos cleric insists on not canceling invitation
The Celestial pastor, who extended invitations to Pasuma and Portable for an upcoming praise night at the church, justified his decision in a viral social media video.
He explained that some gospel singers they previously invited exhibited an air of superiority toward the church.
The preacher asserted that he had successfully won over souls by inviting secular singers, attributing this accomplishment to their impactful performance within the church
Aderemi Dabiri, the founder of a Celestial Church of Christ branch in Lagos State, explained that he invited Fuji singer Alabi Pasuma and street-hop artist Portable with the intention of attracting new converts to the church.

Recently, the white garment church faced significant criticism for including secular artists in its praise night event.

In a video addressing a delegation from the church’s task force, the cleric, Dabiri, explained that the decision to invite the two artists was aimed at drawing in deviants from society.

He emphasized that the adopted pattern of evangelism had proven successful over the years, contributing to the notable growth in his church’s membership.

He said,

“It is not our first time inviting guest artistes. We have been doing it without a problem and I can give you a series of instances. We cannot go where they sell palm wine or alcoholic drinks and ask them to accept Jesus Christ. If I don’t apply wisdom, they will hit a bottle on my head. That was why I thought of a way to bring them into the church.

“I also noticed that there are some notorious boys who cause trouble in the community, disturbing the authorities and engaging in cultism. I wondered how can we draw their attention so that they would have a change of heart. We have gone to places where they are and they ended up beating us. Most of the members of my church are new converts and it was through that pattern that I converted them.”

Dabiri, while expressing criticism toward certain gospel ministers for perceived disrespect, stated a preference for inviting secular musicians to his events.

“Some gospel ministers are rude. If you talk to some of them, they respond rudely, but the day I called Pasuma, he sounded respectful on the phone and also agreed with my stance,” he said.

Addressing the concerns raised by the task force about the controversy, Dabiri affirmed that he had no intention of canceling the invitation.

However, he mentioned plans to curtail the excesses of the artists during the event, particularly focusing on Portable.

He said,

“We will tell Portable not to dye his hair and he should not sing vulgar songs but to sing gospel music. We will also caution him not to dress inappropriately or climb the speakers.

“We will also warn him not to allow his boys to smoke here. We have invited close to 30 military personnel to man the event.”

The cleric earnestly appealed to the global Celestial Church community for support, expressing confidence that his unique style of evangelism would bring pride to the church.

Gumi Speaks Up, Reveals Secret Reason Military Bombed Many People In Kaduna

Gumi Speaks Up, Reveals Secret Reason Military Bombed Many People In Kaduna
Renowned Islamic Scholar Sheikh Ahmad Gumi expressed his belief that the Sunday bombing in Tudun Biri, Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, carried out by the Nigerian Army using a drone and resulting in over 120 deaths, was intentional.

He also said that the military fired the bomb to get back at the bandits who they have been fighting.

Recall that the incident occurred during the celebration of Maulud, claiming innocent lives, including women and children, with over 60 others left injured.

During his weekly lecture at the Sultan Bello Mosque in Kaduna, Sheikh Gumi criticized the military for targeting civilians, including women and children, questioning the decision to do so during warfare. He highlighted the discrepancy in the military’s claim that the first bomb was a mistake and questioned the intentional nature of the second bomb, which targeted those evacuating the bodies.

Sheikh Gumi emphasized that innocent villagers are often victims of security bombardments in the forest, and he had been warning against such actions. He stated, “I kept telling you not to invite people who see war as a solution, but people refused to listen. Here it is now. War is never a joke because it affects everybody.”

He further recounted his calls for peaceful negotiations with groups such as bandits or Boko Haram, advocating for dialogue instead of resorting to violence.

Gumi also disclosed the secret reason why the attack was carried out. He said, “It’s you that will be killed. That bomb was meant to target the families of some people so as to kill their children and wives. I have been to a village where women and children were massacred in a remote forest. “Many people have been bombed. Nobody said anything until it came nearer to the city. I have been saying that whatever is between us, whether it is bandits or Boko Haram, there should be peaceful negotiation.”

We Won’t Forget in a Hurry but We Always Forgive, Who develop Lagos & Who own Lagos

We Won’t Forget in a Hurry but We Always Forgive
Ok

 Who Developed Lagos  ?

By 1872 Lagos was a cosmopolitan trading center with a population of over 60,000 people. Colonial Lagos developed into a busy, cosmopolitan port, with an architecture that  blended Victorian and Brazilian styles.

The  Brazilian element was imparted by skilled builders and masons who had returned from Brazil The black elite was composed of English-speaking "Saros" from Sierra Leone and other emancipated slaves who had been repatriated from Brazil and Cuba.

By 1872  the population of the colony was over 60,000 , of whom less than 100 were of European origin.

Lagosians had telephone presence in 1886, Itu and Calabar got connected to Telephone in 1923, while between 1946 and 1952, a three-channel line carrier system was commissioned between Lagos and Ibadan and was later extended to Osogbo, Kaduna, Kano, Benin, and Enugu.

Communication technology is a major signifier of civilizations and if Lagosians were already making telephone calls more than 70 years before Igbo citizens, where then did you get the warped idea that you came to  develop Lagos?

By 1856 Cable and Wireless Company of the UK had commissioned a submarine cable link between Lagos and London and in 1851 a post office was established in Lagos; all these before  the emergence of Nigeria as an amalgamated country. If I may ask again, where did the stupid idea that Igbo developed Lagos come from? Or that Lagos was developed with Nigeria's money when Lagos was not even part of Nigeria until 1914.

The first Yoruba lawyer Christopher Alexander Sapara Williams was called to the English Bar in 1879 whilst the first Igbo lawyer, Sir Louis Mbanefo, was called to the English bar in 1937.

Again the first Yoruba medical practitioner, Dr. Nathaniel King, graduated in 1875 from the University of Edinburgh whilst the first Igbo medical practitioner, Dr. Akannu Ibiam, graduated from another Scottish University in 1935. Again I ask, where did the ignorant hypothesis of the backward Yoruba race who needed development by the superior Igbo race come from?

Awolowo will continue to be the Yoruba hero not because of blind followership but because he gave his people the system of free education, free healthcare and he introduced Television to the Yoruba; making Yorubaland the first region to have a TV station in Africa, all done with revenues from Cocoa. It is crass ignorance and naked buffonery to claim Lagos was built with Nigeria's money. In addition, where did the foolish idea that the Igbo brought civilization to Lagos and Yoruba-land come from?

The aim of this post is not to deride any tribe but to correct the dangerous misinformation ever trending among some Igbo youths and common in their narratives that Lagos is a no-man's land and that their fathers built and developed Lagos.

Ancestors of Igbo people came to Yoruba-land like all other settlers and we appreciate their contributions. But the stupid claim that Igbo built and developed Lagos is a gross display of stupidity because Lagos was already developed before Igbo ancestors came here from their villages and towns.

The first storey building in Nigeria was built in Marina, Badagry in 1845, long before some of hinterland people gave up the idea of conical mud houses with thatched roofs which some boastfully called 'ancient mansions.' How can you now claim your grand-sires developed Lagos? Please if you are one of those spreading the fiction, I expect you to desist from self-delusion and collective amnesia forthwith.

The first Igbo alphabet-character set and Igbo primer (Isoama-Ibo) was published by Bishop Samuel Ajayi Crowther (a Yoruba man from Osogun) in 1857. How can you now claim superiority over the Yoruba race and even carelessly affirm that your forebears should be thanked for bringing enlightenment to Yoruba Land?

While an average Lagosian or Yoruba does not see all these achievements as a sign of Yoruba superiority over the Igbo or any other tribe, for we do not believe in racial superiority; trust us not to also tolerate any attempt by bigots who stoke ethnic hatred through incitement and arrogant claims of superiority over us or others.
