PDP Gradually Emptying, Following Mass Exodus Of Over 300 Members In Ofu LGA, Kogi
As the internal crisis of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) continues to grow without a foreseeable reprieve or resolution, egress from the Party has began. Without a doubt, all is not well with the opposition with the escalating mass exodus of key players, the latest being former political office holders in Ofu Local Government Kogi state.
Following the resignation of the party’s senatorial candidate in the 2023 general election; Hon. Victor Adoji who is also from the affected Local Government, the forum of Local Government chairmen and political office holders between 2004—2016 have resigned their membership of the Party and joined the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC).
Resignees of the forum of these past leaders include: Honourable Obetule Emele Emmanuel (JP) council leader, Honourable Ochidi Danjuma supervisor, Honourable Sumaila Aruwa Councilor, Honourable Ibrahim Attah Supervisor, Honourable Daniel Mamudu councilor, Honourable Danmusa Ainoko supervisor, Honourable Salisu Usman supervisor, Honourable Samson Abraham councilor, Honourable Emmanuel Odoh Councilor, Honourable Alex Iyaji Councilor, Honourable Sumaila Shaibu councilor, Honourable Philip Usman councilor, Honourable Danusa Igah councilor, Honourable Halimat Yunusa councilor, Honourable Godwin Etuh councilor, Honourable Gabriel Ohiemi Special Advisor, Honourable Abdul Attah Special Advisor, Honourable Hassan Usman Special Advisor, Honourable Danusa Pius Ocheja Special Advisor, Honourable John Tokula Special Advisor, Engr. Gabriel Itanyi Special Advisor, Abdullahi Nuhu Special Assistant, among others.
However, while the ruling APC will officially welcome the afforementioned stakeholders into the party shortly, Mr Adoji’s next party is still unknown and it’s undoubtedly the reason why few other stakeholders still stay put. Albeit, copies of the various resignation letters already in public commonly attributed their decision to personal ground, empirical fact suggest that the mass exodus of the opposition stakeholders in the Local government is not unconnected to high-handedness, self interest and profiteering attitude of the excos. It was alleged that, ordinarily, the party has all it takes to win election at all levels in the state save for the excos pecuniary interest. A source who spoke on condition of anonymity vehemently stated that, the excos extinguished PDP Kindle light in Ofu with their relentless priority of money and other personal gains to the detriment of the overall interest of the party.
