Alade described his panic and confusion, emphasizing he only wanted to get his children safely to school.

His worst fears came true when, amid the chaos, a police officer fired a shot that struck Kehinde, who was seated in the back of the vehicle.

“As I parked to bring the boy out, the policemen and traffic officials were still running after me. I held onto one of them. People gathered and rushed the boy to the hospital. From there, he was taken to UCH. Sadly, when we got there, he gave up the ghost,” he recalled painfully.

Having raised his children alone since their mother left seven years ago, Alade is heartbroken and now demands justice.

“Their mother abandoned us seven years ago, and I made a promise to myself to give my children the best life possible. I’ve worked tirelessly to provide for them, often sacrificing my own needs.

“I’ve turned down opportunities to remarry because I wanted to focus on raising my kids. I often wonder which woman would accept me and my situation without jeopardizing their well-being.

“I’ve done everything I could to give my children a good life. Kehinde had dreams. He loved school. That life is gone now — and for what? A reckless chase over nothing.”

He insisted he was never a suspect and remains bewildered by the officers’ harsh reaction.

“They saw I had children in the car. I wasn’t doing anything wrong beyond trying to get my kids to school. They misjudged me.”

Alade concluded with a call for accountability.

“This cannot go unpunished. I want those responsible to be held accountable. No parent should have to endure the pain of losing a child in such a senseless manner.

“Kehinde was a bright boy with dreams and aspirations. He loved school and was excited about his future. Now, all of that has been stolen from us.

“I need to understand why this happened. My son had so much potential, and it feels incredibly unfair that his life was cut short due to a reckless decision by those who are supposed to protect us. I demand answers, and I want to ensure no other family suffers this kind of loss.”

Following the tragedy, the Inspector-General of Police has ordered a full investigation into the matter, and one officer has reportedly been detained.

Why Iyiola Omisore Is The Game Changer In Osun 2026

Why Iyiola Omisore Is The Game Changer In Osun 2026

Iyiola Ajani Omisore, APC,
As the 2026 gubernatorial election draws nearer in Osun, one politician stood above other aspirants jostling for the ticket of the All Progressives Congress(APC)

He is Iyiola Ajani Omisore, who has remained a strong factor in Osun politics. In 2018, when it was obvious that Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola, the standard bearer of the APC, will not make it, Omisore, who stood on the platform of the Social Democratic Party was on hand to deliver the good even to the chagrin of the Afenifere leaders who felt that the APC does not deserve such favour from Omisore.

But as a politician with slender arms full of goodwill, he obliged the APC and pronto, Oyetola became the governor. It’s therefore not surprising when the former governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi, encouraged Omisore to berth at the APC. He was later to become the National Secretary of the Party, where he discharged his duty creditably. He mobilised and ensured that President Bola Tinubu got the presidential ticket and capped it with electoral victory in 2023 before he stepped down.

Today in Osun politics, Omisore has become the numero uno that even when he has not indicated interest in the governorship, some canvassers have begun to campaign for Omisore. And like ‘Araba nla’ that he is in Osun politics, the opposition has continued to   show signs of pre election lethargy. Will Omisore join the fray? Presently, Omisore is busy with his professional calling of engineering to the admiration of his professional colleagues. Recently, he was in Oyo State at the invitation of the state governor, Seyi Makinde, who is equally an engineer to put the younger ones through.

Omisore also received a standing ovation at the 15th mechanical engineering distinguished lecture at the Yar’Adua Centre, Abuja recently.

Today, Omisore is everywhere across the country and beyond impacting knowledge and promoting the engineering profession.

To cap it all, Omisore has just been appointed as the chairman Engineering Residency Program Task Force to advance the implementation of Engineering Residency Programme( ERP)  in Nigeria.

If the doctrine of reciprocity is adhered to in the forthcoming Osun guber poll, Omisore is the only candidate that stands as a sure Banker for the APC since Mr Oyetola who reserves the honour of first refusal may not be interested anymore.

An analysis of the zoning is in favour of Omisore. From Oyetola, Osun central to Ademola Adeleke, Osun West, and now Omisore, Osun east.

Also, the voting demographics is in his favour. From Ife central to east, north and south, Omisore holds the ace.
Local governments in Ijesaland will make up the numbers. That’s apart from his supporters across the other two senatorial districts of West and Central.

As it stands today, Omisore is the only candidate in the APC that his candidature cut across. He’s the only candidate that can break into the strongholds of Adeleke and win substantial followers that will transform to an  electoral victory.

Omisore is the only candidate in the APC who has the magic wand that can swing the electoral victory in favour of his party.

Oyo Police Command Arrest Officer who Shot WAEC Student in Ibadan

Oyo Police Command Arrest Officer who Shot WAEC Student in Ibadan

The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of one of its personnel involved in the accidental shooting and death of a 14-year-old secondary school student, Kehinde Alade, during a traffic enforcement operation in Ibadan.

The Command's Public Relations Officer, CSP Adewale Osifeso, disclosed the development in a statement released Tuesday in Ibadan. He noted that the officer responsible for the firearm discharge has been taken into custody alongside other members of the operation team.

According to CSP Osifeso, the Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, CP Johnson Adenola, has ordered a thorough and transparent investigation into the incident. The investigation is to be led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).

"The officer involved is cooperating fully with the ongoing investigation, and we assure the public that the findings will be made public," Osifeso said.

The incident occurred around 7:45 a.m. during a joint traffic enforcement operation with the Oyo State Traffic Management Authority (OYTMA). The enforcement team had attempted to stop a black Honda Accord vehicle, with registration number FST 639 JJ, driven by Mr. Odunayo Alade, the deceased’s father, for alleged traffic violations.

"Rather than complying with lawful directives, the driver reportedly accelerated toward the enforcement team in an attempt to evade arrest, ramming into two OYTMA vehicles and a police Buffalo Patrol Truck," the statement added.

In a bid to halt the vehicle and prevent further danger to officers and other road users, barricades were set up. However, the driver allegedly broke through them, prompting a police chase. During the pursuit, a police corporal discharged his firearm, aiming at the vehicle's tyres to stop it. Tragically, the bullet missed and struck young Kehinde Alade, who was seated in the back seat.

The victim was immediately rushed to the University College Hospital (UCH), where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

CSP Osifeso added that the body of the deceased has been deposited at the Adeoyo State Hospital mortuary for autopsy and preservation.

The Oyo State Police Command deeply regrets the unfortunate loss of life and extends its condolences to the Alade family. The Command reiterates its commitment to transparency, justice, and the protection of all citizens.

Diri: You Send Private Jet To Carry Your Own Boss But You Want Fubara To Disrespect His Boss—Eradiri

Udengs Eradiri, a former governorship candidate of the Labour Party in Bayelsa State, has stated that Governor Douye Diri is one of the people encouraging suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara to disrespect his former boss, Nyesom Wike.

by TaboolaSponsored Links
According to Punch, Eradiri stated that it is wrong for Diri to encourage Fubara to disrespect Wike when he himself continues to honor and respect his own predecessor, former Governor Seriake Dickson in Bayelsa. He said he once served as a commissioner in Bayelsa and knows how things work. He said Diri often goes as far as sending a private jet to ferry his boss (Dickson), showing deep respect. He said, "You respect your own, you will send a private jet to go and carry him, but you want your brother to disrespect his boss"

Eradiri also said that the crisis between Wike and Fubara is not about ethnicity. He said it is a PDP crisis and that dragging the Ijaw people into it is misleading.

Speaking in a coverage by Symfoni TV, Okocha said the crisis began between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, whom Fubara used to refer to as his boss. He stated that they were invited to meet with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa.

Okocha disclosed that during the meeting, an eight-point peace deal was brought out. He said the peace deal was read aloud by former Governor Peter Odili. He said when President Tinubu asked everyone present if they agreed to the terms of the peace deal they said yes

Tinubu put Fashola in power, they had problems, the issue was money. Fashola modernized Lagos—Okonkwo

Legal practitioner and political analyst Kenneth Okonkwo has criticized President Bola Tinubu’s political behavior, claiming that the president’s only consistent trait is his drive for authority and wealth.

In an interview with Channels TV, Okonkwo said Tinubu had supported Babatunde Fashola to become the Governor of Lagos State. However, tensions later arose between the two when Fashola began developing Lagos, with money being the central issue.

Okonkwo further mentioned former Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, saying he faced similar conflicts as Fashola. He added that his insight comes from his time as a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He said: “Tinubu installed Fashola in office, but they eventually clashed. Fashola was the first to initiate Lagos’ modernization, and the problem was over money. Ambode experienced the same, and I witnessed it because I was part of the APC. From my perspective, Tinubu has only been consistent in seeking power and money.”

I Was Ashamed and Didn't Want to Let Everyone Know That I Don't Have a House Where I Sleep – Jumoke George

I Was Ashamed and Didn't Want to Let Everyone Know That I Don't Have a House Where I Sleep – Jumoke George

Jumoke George, a veteran actress in the Nigerian film industry, has revealed the tremendous personal challenges she has been going through, including the fact that she has been dwelling without a home for the past six years.

She disclosed that her living conditions had reached such a point of difficulty that she had been had to seek sanctuary in a church, where she has spent the most of her days. The actress, who had previously enjoyed a great deal of fame, shared this information.

Over the course of many years, George concealed her troubles from the general public out of a sense of embarrassment and a fear of being judged. Her career and health had deteriorated to such a degree, but she was unwilling to accept it because she was a well-known character in the Nigerian film industry (Nollywood).

On the other hand, George revealed in a chat that was both open and emotional that she had no choice but to speak out because of the persistent health problems and the numerous financial difficulties she was experiencing.

Despite the fact that she had a history of landing sporadic jobs on film sets, she claimed that the compensation she received was not sufficient to support her. There were periods when she was fortunate enough to find work once every three months.

Because of the ever-increasing expense of living and the inability to obtain a stable income, it became hard to finance even the most fundamental necessities, such as paying for housing. Because George's rent was increased beyond her capacity to pay, she was forced to vacate the house that she had once considered to be her home.

Furthermore, the actress disclosed that her worsening health was a contributing factor to her difficulties. In light of the fact that George had been ill since the beginning of the year, she discovered that she was unable to continue working in the industry that had previously earned her recognition or to visit movie sites.

She stated, "I was embarrassed and didn't want to let everyone know that I don't have a house where I sleep. It was difficult for me to do so. Right now, however, I do not have a choice. Now is the time for me to make my voice heard since I am exhausted and aggravated. I used to get calls for jobs at movie locations, but the jobs aren't paying enough. It's true that I could find jobs at movie locations. It's not uncommon for me to only find work once every three months. However, because I have been sick, I am unable to travel to any areas at this time. I even have to take out loans in order to reimburse those individuals who have paid me for jobs. The rent at the house where I had been staying had been increased, and from that point on, I was unable to afford it."

Your tenure ridiculed First Lady’s Office’ – Nigerians will decide 2027, Patience Jonathan told

Your tenure ridiculed First Lady’s Office’ – Nigerians will decide 2027, Patience Jonathan told

I look younger after leaving presidential villa
A social reform group known as The Crusader has criticized former First Lady Dame Patience Jonathan over her recent comments concerning the 2027 presidential elections, asserting that her time in office diminished the stature of the First Lady position.

The group’s reaction followed Mrs. Jonathan’s remarks that she would campaign alongside current First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, and had no plans of returning to Aso Rock. Speaking through its spokesperson, Adesola Babafemi, The Crusader stressed that the decision on who emerges victorious in the 2027 elections remains solely with the Nigerian electorate—not Mrs. Jonathan.

“Dame Patience knows very well that if her husband, former President Goodluck Jonathan, decides to run for the presidency in 2027, it is Nigerians who will determine his fate,” Babafemi stated. He added that while Jonathan might still enjoy public support, “She will certainly never be the First Lady again, but people are ready to vote for him en masse.”

The group also praised Goodluck Jonathan’s younger wife, describing her as “refined, humane, and cerebral,” noting her legal background as fitting for the role of First Lady.

Addressing recent developments, Babafemi pointed out that the current administration had restored properties seized from Patience Jonathan by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), questioning her sudden alignment with the ruling party.

“It is worth mentioning that the federal government has returned all properties seized from Dame Patience by the EFCC. This raises questions about her motivations and her alignment with the ruling party,” Babafemi noted.

The Crusader further urged Patience Jonathan to refrain from making public statements that suggest she speaks on behalf of the former president. Babafemi asserted, “We call on her to desist from implying that she is the spokesperson for the former president, a position she does not hold.”

Reflecting on her tenure from 2010 to 2015, the group accused Patience Jonathan of reducing the dignity of the Office of the First Lady through “theatrical actions,” adding that Nigerians are “tired of her attempts to influence political discourse.”

“Her tenure ridiculed the Office of the First Lady, and it is time for the public to recognize that her past actions do not reflect the values we need in leadership today,” the group stated.

As the 2027 elections approach, The Crusader emphasized that only Nigerians would decide the political future of the Jonathan family, irrespective of any public declarations by the former First Lady.

When I Was in Coma, I Saw My Friend Barrister in Heaven and He Told Me to Go Back Home - Kollington

When I Was in Coma, I Saw My Friend Barrister in Heaven and He Told Me to Go Back Home - Kollington

Veteran Fuji musician Alhaji Kollington Ayinla has shared a deeply personal and spiritual experience, recounting a moment during his coma when he claims to have encountered his late colleague, the legendary Fuji musician Barrister, in heaven.

Kollington, speaking in an emotional interview on Teju Babyface’s YouTube channel, revealed that while in a coma, he was fully aware of the happenings around him, despite his unconscious state.

During this near-death experience, Kollington recounted that he found himself in a heavenly realm, where he came face-to-face with Barrister, who had passed away some years ago.

In this surreal encounter, Barrister supposedly questioned Kollington's presence and insisted that he return to Earth.

According to Kollington, Barrister’s message was clear: he had a greater purpose left on Earth, specifically in preserving the future of Fuji music.

Kollington revealed that even though he expressed a desire to stay, his late friend urged him to go back and continue his work in the music industry.

When he eventually regained consciousness in the hospital, he was overwhelmed by emotions, particularly because of the profound nature of the vision he had experienced.

He said: "When I was in a coma, I was fully aware of everything happening around me. In that state, I saw my friend Barrister in heaven. He asked what I was doing there and told me to return, saying I needed to take care of Fuji music—that it must not be allowed to die. I told him I was hungry, but he insisted I go back instead. When I eventually woke up from the coma and realized I was in the hospital, I began to cry."

432 jostle for APC chairmanship ticket in 57 Lagos councils

432 jostle for APC chairmanship ticket in 57 Lagos councils

Ahead of the July 12 Local Government Election in Lagos State, the All Progressives Congress (APC) says no fewer than 432 aspirants are contesting the primary of the party slated for next Saturday.

The electoral committee of the party released the official list of successful chairmanship aspirants for the 20 local governments and 37 local council development areas (LCDAs).

The screening exercise was conducted at the party’s Secretariat on Acme Road, Ogba between Tuesday, April 29 and Friday, May 3.

A total of 470 aspirants were screened by the committee while 432 were cleared to contest in the party’s primary elections.

It was learnt that the 38 other aspirants were either disqualified or they voluntarily withdrew from the race.

The breakdown of the aspirants revealed that out of the 470, 411 were male while 59 were female.

Checks by our correspondent indicated that Amuwo-Odofin has the highest number of cleared aspirants with 20 vying for the party’s ticket followed by Shomolu which had 18 aspirants cleared.

Other local governments with large number of aspirants are Apapa-Iganmu (16); Bariga LCDA (15); Ikorodu Central Local Government (15); Yaba (14); Agboyi-Ketu LCDA (13); Ajeromi-Ifelodun (13); Badagry Central (13); Ikeja (12); Ojokoro (12); Lagos Mainland (11), among others.

However, Iba, Ijede, Oto-Awori and Lekki and Surulere had one aspirant each cleared to contest unopposed.

In Agege Local Government, AbdulGaniyu Obasa, son of the Speaker of the House of Assembly did not show up for the screening as seven aspirants were cleared to contest.

The party in its guidelines released earlier disclosed that indirect primaries would be conducted where executive members across the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) would vote on May 10.

It was however gathered that the election would hold where consensus option failed in any of the local governments.

According to the party, disqualified aspirants have an opportunity to file an appeal between Sunday, May 4 and Monday, May 5. Those who wish to contest the outcome of the primaries can submit petitions to the Appeal Committee between May 12 and 13.
