Rwanda’s Amavubi Storm Nigeria for Crucial FIFAWCQ26 Qualifiers with Super Eagles

According to the NFF Official Website, Rwanda’s national football team, the Amavubi, are set to arrive in Nigeria for a crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying showdown with the Super Eagles. The full delegation is expected to land in Lagos on Tuesday afternoon before proceeding to Uyo, the venue for Saturday’s Matchday 7 encounter at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium.
The match holds significant importance for both teams, as they are both lagging behind group leaders South Africa. The current standings see South Africa at the top with 13 points, followed by Benin Republic and Rwanda, who are both on eight points. Nigeria sits in fourth place with seven points. The outcome of this game will be critical for both sides as they seek to move into a better position to benefit from any potential FIFA penalties against South Africa for using an ineligible player.
Saturday's clash comes just five months after the Super Eagles defeated the Amavubi 2-0 in Kigali. However, Rwanda will be looking to repeat their last performance in Uyo, where they secured a surprising 2-1 victory against Nigeria in a 2025 AFCON qualification match.
