Bandits: They Invaded 101 Battalion, Blocked Road From Kainji To Wawa, Security Wasted Them-Dantata
Security expert Salihu Dantata has recalled how security forces successfully thwarted an alleged attempt by non-state actors to attack military formations after intelligence was gathered on the planned operation.
Dantata made the disclosure during an interview on Arise News on Thursday, August 27, 2026, while discussing the importance of intelligence gathering and the ability of security agencies to respond to threats before they escalate.
He said the security forces had, some years ago, received intelligence that non-state actors were threatening to invade the cantonment of 101 Battalion and the 221 Air Weapons School. According to him, the attackers subsequently blocked the road linking Kainji and Wawa but were confronted by security personnel who had been alerted in advance.
“Even though I will give credit to them some years back when some of the non State actors threatened to invade the cantonment of 101 battalion and 221 Air weapon school, they blocked the road from Kainji to Wawa. At the time they came, they wasted them. That is the security forces wasted then due to Intel gathered.”
The security expert said the incident demonstrated how timely intelligence could give security forces an advantage over groups planning attacks on military or civilian targets.
Dantata’s comments came as he highlighted the need for stronger intelligence networks and improved cooperation between communities and security agencies in addressing Nigeria’s security challenges.
