2023: God told me Atiku is next president, PDP will win without support of G5 governors – Okowa

2023: God told me Atiku is next president, PDP will win without support of G5 governors – Okowa

The governor of Delta state, Ifeanyi Okowa, has expressed optimism about the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) winning the 2023 presidential election.

Okowa, while speaking on Friday, December 30, at the PDP presidential campaign rally in the state, noted that the party will win the presidential election without the support of the G5.

In October, Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers state, said that PDP can’t win the 2023 presidential election without his support and that of his allies.

The G5, which includes Wike, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu state, Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia state, and Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state, has been demanding the resignation of Iyorchia Ayu, national chairman of the party, as a precondition to support PDP’s presidential flagbearer, Atiku Abubakar.

Over the past days, there have been reports that the five PDP governors met in London to discuss plans to endorse Bola Tinubu, presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Okowa, while speaking on Friday, said that PDP will win the presidential election with or without the support of the aggrieved governors, The Cable reports.

“God has told me that PDP will win the 2023 presidential election. Many things may be happening now and people may be asking about the G5 governors,” Okowa said.

“These governors are our brothers, abd everybody is important.

“However, what God has said will happen, nobody can change it. He said that Atiku will emerge as Nigeria’s next president, and we believe Him.

“So, even if some of them decide to support APC, some will remain with us because there will be division among them.

“The real truth is that I have strong political eyes and I have observed that no matter what they do, PDP will win the forthcoming election, by the grace of God.

“It is only the power of God that can help us to win. So, whether the G5 said that they would work with APC or any other party, we will win in 2023,” he added.

Okowa also said that Atiku is the only qualified candidate among the front runners in the presidential race.

He said that, “We all know that the candidate of APC is not good enough to be our president.

“Also, we know that Labour Party (LP) is not going anywhere and we need to talk to the LP supporters not to waste their votes,.

“Those supporters wishing to vote for Labour Party are only indirectly helping APC and trying to reduce the vote of PDP.

“So, please go and plead with LP supporters to return to PDP and join hands with us to change Nigeria for the better.

“PDP is ready to change the so-called previous change. Therefore, everyone should go and get his or her PVC,” he added.

How I defrauded my victim through ATM PIN – POS operator confesses

How I defrauded my victim through ATM PIN – POS operator confesses

Emmanuel Okorafor, 26, was arrested yesterday evening in Ojota. He was caught in an ATM fraud. He confessed he started it three weeks ago.

Okorafor has been defrauding POS operators with various sums of money. He normally gives them a figure in seven, which the operator would enter into his POS (N52,000:00). Once the machine is handed to him to enter his PIN, he would cleverly delete two zeros (N5,200:00) before returning it to the operators.

With this, the operators pay him N52, 000:00 while he is debited N5, 200:00.

In his confession, he re-acted the same fraud in five POS points yesterday around Ogudu GRA and Ojota before he was arrested in the evening.

As of yesterday, three POS operators said he played the same trick on them. His ATM matched that used in defrauding the victim.

Some of them said they have accused and sacked many of their attendants for stealing their money.

Investigations revealed that the ATM was used to collect various sums of money ranging from N52,000 to N5500 in many POS points.

NOTE: We are not covering his face so that his victims can identify him.

Kwara journalist canvasses improvement in prison inmates’ welfare

Kwara journalist canvasses improvement in prison inmates’ welfare

A Kwara State-based journalist, Dare Akogun has urged well meaning Nigerians to contribute to the wellbeing of prisoners and the prison service in general, saying that the government cannot do it alone.

Akogun, who is a Senior News Editor with Ilorin-based private radio station Sobi FM, recently celebrated his birthday with inmates of the Mandala Medium Custodian Centre, Ilorin, where he fed the 430 inmates held at the centre and donated clothing and other items.

The journalist, alongside his brother, AbdulRasheed Akogun, another journalist, were remanded in the custodian centre in October 2022 over defamation allegation brought against them by a Kwara State government official.

The charge was later withdrawn after the duo had spent six days at the centre.

Accompanied by friends and colleagues, Dare Akogun said that prison inmates are also part of the society who must not be discriminated against, but rather shown love and compassion and be well catered for.

He said: “When I was here in October this year, so many people took their time to visit me in this place, and their words of encouragement helped me a great deal to cope during the period I was here.

My time inside here made me realise that life inside the prison is a lesson that can only be learnt only if it’s experienced.

”I decided to celebrate my birthday with you guys in reciprocation of the love I was shown while I was here, and the support of well-meaning Nigerians who supported this cause with donations that have made today possible.

”I want to use this opportunity to call on well-meaning Nigerians to always remember prison inmates not only in times of celebration, but everytime they believe they have whatever it takes to support them and make their stay in prison conducive”.

The Officer in Charge of the centre, Assistant Controller of Corrections Oyedele Asiyanbi, commended Akogun and his friends for remembering the inmates despite their tight schedule.

Asiyanbi said that private individuals can do more to ensure that prisons are conducive for inmates, as the seclusion is meant to reform them to be good citizens whenever they are released back into the society.

“I want to urge you to use your medium to enlighten the people and call on well meaning Nigerians on the need to inculcate the habit of visiting the prisons for motivational talks and donating items that will make the prison conducive for inmates”, he said.

Brazilian Soccer Legend Pelé Dead At 82

Brazilian Soccer Legend Pelé Dead At 82

Brazil’s mighty king of soccer won a record three World Cups.

A mural depicting FIFA Legend Pelé lifting the Rimet cup is seen during a tribute event to him in Qatar earlier this month.
SAO PAULO (AP) — Pelé, the Brazilian king of soccer who won a record three World Cups and became one of the most commanding sports figures of the last century, died Thursday. He was 82.

The standard-bearer of “the beautiful game” had undergone treatment for colon cancer since 2021. He had been hospitalized for the last month with multiple ailments.

His agent Joe Fraga confirmed his death.

Widely regarded as one of soccer’s greatest players, Pelé spent nearly two decades enchanting fans and dazzling opponents as the game’s most prolific scorer with Brazilian club Santos and the Brazil national team.

His grace, athleticism and mesmerizing moves transfixed players and fans. He orchestrated a fast, fluid style that revolutionized the sport — a samba-like flair that personified his country’s elegance on the field.

He carried Brazil to soccer’s heights and became a global ambassador for his sport in a journey that began on the streets of Sao Paulo state, where he would kick a sock stuffed with newspapers or rags.

In the conversation about soccer’s greatest players, only the late Diego Maradona, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are mentioned alongside Pelé.

Different sources, counting different sets of games, list Pelé’s goal totals anywhere between 650 (league matches) and 1,281 (all senior matches, some against low-level competition.)

The player who would be dubbed “The King” was introduced to the world at 17 at the 1958 World Cup in Sweden, the youngest player ever at the tournament. He was carried off the field on teammates’ shoulders after scoring two goals in Brazil’s 5-2 victory over the host country in the final.

Injury limited him to just two games when Brazil retained the world title in 1962, but Pelé was the emblem of his country’s World Cup triumph of 1970 in Mexico. He scored in the final and set up Carlos Alberto with a nonchalant pass for the last goal in a 4-1 victory over Italy.

The image of Pelé in a bright, yellow Brazil jersey, with the No. 10 stamped on the back, remains alive with soccer fans everywhere. As does his trademark goal celebration -- a leap with a right fist thrust high above his head.

Pelé’s fame was such that in 1967 factions of a civil war in Nigeria agreed to a brief cease-fire so he could play an exhibition match in the country. He was knighted by Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II in 1997. When he visited Washington to help popularize the game in North America, it was the U.S. president who stuck out his hand first.

“My name is Ronald Reagan, I’m the president of the United States of America,” the host said to his visitor. “But you don’t need to introduce yourself because everyone knows who Pelé is.”

Pelé was Brazil’s first modern Black national hero but rarely spoke about racism in a country where the rich and powerful tend to hail from the white minority.

Opposing fans taunted Pelé with monkey chants at home and all over the world.

“He said that he would never play if he had to stop every time he heard those chants,” said Angelica Basthi, one of Pelé’s biographers. “He is key for Black people’s pride in Brazil, but never wanted to be a flagbearer.”

Pelé’s life after soccer took many forms. He was a politician -- Brazil’s Extraordinary Minister for Sport -- a wealthy businessman, and an ambassador for UNESCO and the United Nations.

He had roles in movies, soap operas and even composed songs and recorded CDs of popular Brazilian music.

As his health deteriorated, his travels and appearances became less frequent. He was often seen in a wheelchair during his final years and did not attend a ceremony to unveil a statue of him representing Brazil’s 1970 World Cup team. Pelé spent his 80th birthday isolated with a few family members at a beach home.

Born Edson Arantes do Nascimento, in the small city of Tres Coracoes in the interior of Minas Gerais state on Oct. 23, 1940, Pelé grew up shining shoes to buy his modest soccer gear.

Pelé’s talent drew attention when he was 11, and a local professional player brought him to Santos’ youth squads. It didn’t take long for him to make it to the senior squad.

Despite his youth and 5-foot-8 frame, he scored against grown men with the same ease he displayed against friends back home. He debuted with the Brazilian club at 16 in 1956, and the club quickly gained worldwide recognition.

The name Pelé came from him mispronouncing the name of a player called Bilé.

He went to the 1958 World Cup as a reserve but became a key player for his country’s championship team. His first goal, in which he flicked the ball over the head of a defender and raced around him to volley it home, was voted as one of the best in World Cup history.

The 1966 World Cup in England -- won by the hosts -- was a bitter one for Pelé, by then already considered the world’s top player. Brazil was knocked out in the group stage and Pelé, angry at the rough treatment, swore it was his last World Cup.

He changed his mind and was rejuvenated in the 1970 World Cup. In a game against England, he struck a header for a certain score, but the great goalkeeper Gordon Banks flipped the ball over the bar in an astonishing move. Pelé likened the save — one of the best in World Cup history — to a “salmon climbing up a waterfall.” Later, he scored the opening goal in the final against Italy, his last World Cup match.

In all, Pelé played 114 matches with Brazil, scoring a record 95 goals, including 77 in official matches.

His run with Santos stretched over three decades until he went into semi-retirement after the 1972 season. Wealthy European clubs tried to sign him, but the Brazilian government intervened to keep him from being sold, declaring him a national treasure.

On the field, Pelé’s energy, vision and imagination drove a gifted Brazilian national team with a fast, fluid style of play that exemplified “O Jogo Bonito” -- Portuguese for “The Beautiful Game.” His 1977 autobiography, “My Life and the Beautiful Game,” made the phrase part of soccer’s lexicon.

In 1975, he joined the New York Cosmos of the North American Soccer League. Although 34 and past his prime, Pelé gave soccer a higher profile in North America. He led the Cosmos to the 1977 league title and scored 64 goals in three seasons.

Pelé ended his career on Oct. 1, 1977, in an exhibition between the Cosmos and Santos before a crowd in New Jersey of some 77,000. He played half the game with each club. Among the dignitaries on hand was perhaps the only other athlete whose renown spanned the globe — Muhammad Ali.

Pelé would endure difficult times in his personal life, especially when his son Edinho was arrested on drug-related charges. Pelé had two daughters out of wedlock and five children from his first two marriages, to Rosemeri dos Reis Cholbi and Assiria Seixas Lemos. He later married businesswoman Marcia Cibele Aoki.

At Least 3 Dead As Bomb Blast Rocks Palace Of Prominent Kogi Monarch Ahead Of Buhari’s Visit
There is palpable tension in Ebiraland in Kogi State as the palace of the paramount traditional ruler and Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, Dr Ado Ibrahim was rocked by a bomb blast on Thursday morning.

An eyewitness told SaharaReporters that a car with explosives was driven into the palace, exploding some minutes after and ripping through the palace.

Sources told SaharaReporters that three people were killed by the blast, with some others injured.

According to an eyewitness, “a car with explosives was driven into the palace this morning and shortly after, the car exploded.”

The source said the identity of the driver could not yet be ascertained.

Although SaharaReporters could not independently ascertain the circumstances surrounding the bomb blast, sources claimed that it might be connected with the refusal of the monarch to accept the new palace reportedly built for him by Governor Yahaya Bello.

According to one of the sources, “President Muhammadu Buhari is visiting Kogi State today and there is a part of the story that Governor Yahaya Bello built a palace for the king but the king refused to move into the palace because he claims that his palace is better than the one built by the governor.

“The king was supposed to have moved to the place before today that Buhari would visit the state but he did not move in. So people are speculating that the explosion could have deliberately been triggered in his palace to force him to move to the new palace built by Governor Yahaya Bello.”

PDP Crisis Heightens As G5 Govs Finally Revoke Support For Atiku

The five disgruntled governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), widely known as the G5, have ultimately decided not to back the party’s presidential candidate for 2023, Atiku Abubakar.
Following their meeting in London, the governors said that they will not be supporting Atiku in the 2023 presidential election and have decided on a preferred candidate.

A source told The Nation that the governors said there was no room for a final peace deal with Atiku because he has failed to meet their demands for weeks, especially Ayu’s resignation from office and concessions to the South.

The source also revealed that the Integrity group also rejected peace overtures from South-South leaders, who appealed to them to sheath their swords and support the former Vice President’s bid.

According to the source, the governors were also angry at Makinde’s removal as the Southwest Coordinator for the PDP Presidential Campaign during their meeting in London.

he governors gave stated that they will not leave a crucial meeting in London to meet with Atiku or any other stakeholder in Nigeria.

The source said: “So far, the London meeting has succeeded in defining the position of the G-5 on Atiku. The governors have resolved not to work for the presidential candidate of their party.

“They will, however, ensure the victory of PDP in other elections in their various states. The good thing is that the Presidential and the National Assembly Elections will come first on February 25, 2023.

“The governors were unhappy that they gave Atiku enough windows to meet their demands, but he refused because he believes he can win without them.

They claimed that the little trust between them and Atiku has waned. They foresee vengeance against them if Atiku wins the 2023 poll.

“Where there is need for alliance in their states, they said they are determined to prove to PDP and Atiku that they cannot be wished away.”

Speaking further, the source said some South-South leaders invited Wike to a meeting in Nigeria for a deal with the PDP candidate before he left for London.

He said the Rivers State governor has stated that he will not be part of any fresh deal or talk with Atiku.

The Nation quoted the source as saying: “Wike told the South-South leaders that it was late in the day to have any meeting with them on the Atiku-Okowa ticket. He said the London meeting was more crucial than the one in Nigeria.

“Some of the Southsouth leaders became helpless and may abandon their latest overtures.”

Mr Owoeye made this known during plenary, while reacting to the call made by Governor Ademola Adeleke, asking the former governor Gboyega Oyetola, his deputy, cabinet members and some public office holders who served under the previous administration, to return the official vehicles in their custody.

The speaker said, according to the State Public Office Holders (payment of pension and severance packages) Bill 2018, signed into law in 2019, the former governor is empowered to go away with his official vehicles.

BREAKING: Miyetti Allah Finally Names Preferred Presidential CandidatePeter Obi, Bola Tinubu and Atiku Abubakar

Fulani socio-cultural group, Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, has finally announced its preferred candidate for the 2023 presidential race.
Naija News reports that there have been speculations on the candidate the pastoral group would be supporting in the forthcoming election.

Miyetti Allah ended the speculations after it declared support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu.

It was said that the endorsement was the outcome of extensive discussions between the Fulani Pastoralists and the representatives of the APC presidential candidate, which was concluded recently.

A week ago, the president of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Baba Othman Ngelzarma, told reporters that the pastoral association would reveal the candidate to support before the February 2023 election.

According to him, the group had presented a seven-point agenda to the major presidential candidates and would unveil a preferred presidential candidate after due consultations.

He stated that the group has already met and presented its seven-point agenda to the presidential candidates of the APC, Tinubu, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar and the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso.

Ngelzarma, however, said that Miyetti Allah has not met the Labour Party candidate, Peter Obi, personally but has reached him through contact.

Reports emerging, however, said that agreements were reached and both parties have signed the dotted lines, an indication that they would work together to ensure that the presidential campaign of the APC wins the election and succeed President Muhammadu Buhari.

According to DailySun, the President of the Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, Alhaji Bello Bodejo, confirmed the latest development, noting that Tinubu will be formally endorsed by the Association at its coming meeting in Lafia on Friday.

“We have a large meeting of our people, Fulani Pastoralists, coming up on Friday in Lafia. It’s at that meeting that we will carry out the formal announcement of Tinubu as our choice of presidential candidate. If you could remember, we stated a few weeks ago that we would announce our choice of presidential candidate for the coming elections and that is what will be done on Friday.

“We have consulted widely with our people and other stakeholders, and arrived at the choice of the APC presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The formal announcement to that effect will be made on Friday in Lafia,” Bodejo reportedly said.

He added: “We have met with his representatives and had extensive discussions on the bases and conditions for our support, and both parties are satisfied with the working conditions. We have also signed the dotted lines, so we are good to go. We would release other necessary information as the need arises.”

Gov Ayade stops Calabar Carnival, orders investigation into killing

Following the reported mayhem that erupted in Calabar where as many as ten persons were feared killed and over 20 injured, Governor Ben Ayade has ordered discontinuation of a segment of the Calabar Carnival.

The governor in a swift press statement signed by his media adviser and chief press secretary, Barrister Christian Ita, also ordered immediate investigation into the incident.

Part of the statement said, “While sympathising with the victims of the accident and their families, the governor has ordered an immediate investigation to unravel how the motorist was able to get through security barricades to have access to the routes which were closed to the public.”

Ita said the Governor directed the immediate discontinuation of the Bikers parade in honour of the victims of the accident.

Governor Ayade while promising to ensure the culprit is arrested and brought to book, however, sued for calm.

An errant motorist allegedly ploughed into a crowd that thronged the Carnival route to watch the bikers parade.

Ita said Governor Ayade is sad and devasted by the incident and has directed security agencies to apprehend the motorist who is on the run.

Wike: If He Wins We Will Return To Square One

According to reports, the G-5 governors are torn between declaring support for the presidential candidate candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and that of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi.

A source told Vanguard that while one of the Governors is making a case for Obi others argue that he lacks the support base to cover the 36 states and Abuja.

The source stated that the G-5 are worried that Peter Obi might find it difficult to pass legislation because he won’t enjoy support from the majority of the National Assembly.

They however insisted that Tinubu on the other hand has a stronger influence over the National Assembly considering that he is contesting on the ruling party platform.

According to the source, “Those in this camp argue that should he emerge victorious we will be returning to square one because he will not enjoy the majority in the National Assembly and thus will find it difficult to pass legislation required for him to make the reforms he has been conversing.

“On the other hand, those among them making a case for Asiwaju are of the view that the party being the ruling party has the requisite spread.

“They also allude to the fact that the candidate so far appears to recognize the disaster the APC represents at the Centre and had concentrated on using successes recorded in Lagos as example of what he intends to do when he gets into office; would endear him to Nigerians.”

The source further said, “Politics is all about negotiations they are still taking. One thing they agree on is their determination to ensure that the next President emerges from Southern Nigeria.”

Ajah shooting: Police release 2 officers

Ajah shooting: Police release 2 officers

The police command in Lagos State says two police officers arrested alongside Dambri Vandi, the assistant superintendent of police (ASP) said to have pulled the trigger that killed Omobolale Raheem, would be released as they were not involved in the shooting.

The command’s spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed this to NAN on Tuesday, while giving an update on the killing.

The police in Lagos, on Christmas Day, arrested Dambri Vandi, and two other officers attached to Ajiwe police station in the Ajah area for allegedly killing a female lawyer, Omobolale Raheem.

Hundeyin said they were taken into protective custody immediately and were later transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for thorough investigation. He said the two police officers arrested alongside Vandi were detained for interrogation and testimonies.

“The two police men arrested with the ASP, who killed the lawyer will be released today (Tuesday) after giving their testimonies to the command.

“They were arrested because they saw what happened. They were not the ones who allegedly killed the woman. They have given their stories on what happened and the CP has ordered that they should be released while investigations continue,” he said.

On the update about similar killing of one Gafaru Buraimoh on December 7, by a police officer from the same Ajiwe police station, Hundeyin said that the officer was still in detention, yet to be charged to court.

He added that the police officer was yet to be arraigned because his dismissal order has not been released.

“There are indeed consequences. The officer is still in detention at the SCID. His investigation is being wrapped up.

“Once his dismissal order comes out, he will be charged to court immediately,” he said.

Hundeyin said that there was nothing wrong with the spot or area where the killings took place, but the officers, who killed would be held responsible for their actions.

He noted that when the first incident occurred on December 7, the commissioner of police, Abiodun Alabi, changed the DPO of the station after the incident.

“This has become one too many, especially, bearing in mind that a similar incident occurred at the same location less than three weeks ago. The condemnable incident is against the standard operating procedure (SOP) and rules of engagement of the police force, and to say the least is embarrassing.
“Beyond this incident, the Nigeria Police Force will carry out a reappraisal of its rules of engagement, to put an end to such avoidable ugly incidents,” Hundeyin said.

The spokesman appealed to residents of the state to remain calm as the command was already in touch with the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and other relevant stakeholders to ensure justice is done.

Scores of APC members defect to PDP in Lagos

Scores of APC members defect to PDP in Lagos

Ahead of the forthcoming 2023 general election, hundreds of members from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Epe local government area of Lagos State, at the weekend defected to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

The defectors drummed support for the candidature of the Lagos PDP governorship candidate, Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran (Jandor), and his running mate, Olufunke Akindele and the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar in their mission to offer a breath of fresh air in the governance of the state and Nigeria.

The defector decried the unending deceit and deception within the APC, which they said, has not only caused harm to their personal development as politicians but also dangerous for the entrenchment of internal democracy within the party and the state at large.

While welcoming the defectors on behalf of the party, the Lagos State Deputy Chairman, Tai Benedict commends the decampees for their courage to quit the ruling party to join efforts with the PDP in salvaging the state from 23 years of neglect and bad governance.

He assured them that their rights and privileges as members of the main opposition party will not be denied for being new members.

He notified them that there is no new entrant in PDP and that all bonafide members are equal stakeholders with no limits to what they can aspire to or get from the party.

Also commending the large numbers of defectors, a prominent leader of the party in Epe, Mutaz enjoined the group to hit the ground running in the mobilization of voters at the grassroots from their zones and wards.

He promised them that the breath of fresh air agenda of the party’s governorship candidate will transform their painful experience while in the APC.

Reacting to the development, Gbenga Ogunleye, Head, Media & Communications Jandor 4Governor Campaign Organizations, described the development as a further indication of the wide support that the PDP, her presidential, gubernatorial, and other candidates enjoy from the good people of Lagos State.

Oyetola’s dummies and a date with fate at the tribunal.

The word “dummy” can pass for a noun or a verb. In whichever context it is used, it is pointing to something not real or realistic. As a noun, it means an object created to resemble or serve as a substitute for the real or usual one. It could mean a model or replica of a thing or a human being. It could mean a fake object or a feigned thing, a simulation. It could be used to describe a person who is ignorant of the real situation, someone who has been deceived and who has bought seriously into the deceit. As a verb, a person is said to be “dummied” if that person has been deceived about the real situation.

The election petition filed by former Osun Governor Oyetola and his APC at the Osun Governorship Election Tribunal after their defeat at the July 16th Osun 2022 governorship election, can unarguably pass for a dummy. The petition is majorly based on two planks viz: (i) forgery (ii) over-voting/non-compliance.

The two planks form the two wings with which Oyetola and his party’s petition want to fly at the tribunal. Sadly for the petitioners, the two wings are dummies which cannot fly or be used to fly at all. The first wing being the dummy of forgery was sold to Oyetola by some saboteurs within Osun PDP (who have now decamped to another party), while Oyetola himself procured another one by himself for himself from somewhere else. That is what desperation, lust for power and arrogance can bring about.

The dummy of forgery was on the basis of the academic credentials of Senator Ademola Adeleke. He was alleged to have forged the degree certificate of Atlanta Metropolitan College, USA, and the High School Diploma Certificate of Penn Foster College, also in USA. They also alleged that he forged the documents he presented as evidence of attendance at Ede Muslim High School, Ede (formerly Ede Muslim Grammar School). The dummy in the said allegation of forgery is the reasoning of the petitioners that Adeleke got a degree 24 days after his high school diploma which is an O’ level equivalent with the insinuation that the diploma was the basis for the degree. That is, the diploma was the qualification he used to gain admission for the degree. The insistence of the APC’s counsel at the tribunal for INEC to bring the original form cf001 submitted by Adeleke to INEC in 2018 was to achieve one thing.. to show to the tribunal that from the 2018 documents, Adeleke had nothing to qualify him for any admission abroad for a degree. The other aim, which would seem like eating one’s vomit, is an attempt to re-open the issue of Adeleke’s attainment and education up to school certificate level, in respect of which the courts have pronounced in the past, and Adeleke vindicated.

The dummy was finely packaged for Oyetola and he himself so much bought into it that he could not discern the obvious reality that Adeleke’s degree and the high school diploma are not related at all. They are independent of each other. Adeleke’s academic journey abroad started in 1981 when he got admission into Jacksonville University, USA, using his cumulative school grades plus ACT/TOEFL. He later transferred his course to Atalanta Metropolitan College, USA in 1986, and he was in and out of school for business until he completed his degree in 2021.

His academic transcripts have now become public documents and certified true copies of same can be obtained from the Tribunal. This was the dummy of forgery propounded to high heavens by the APC and Oyetola loyalists. They have polluted the media space with their terrible lies and propaganda against Adeleke. They even circulated a fake NECO result which they recklessly ascribed to Adeleke, however, such was never established to be part of Adeleke’s documents at the Tribunal.

I read many newspaper headlines and also in the social media that “Adeleke’s witness admitted he (Adeleke) got a degree within 24 days. That’s pretty sensational! Everyone will want to pay an attention to the headlines, and by which a reader who is not at home with the facts and evidence at the Tribunal will come to a conclusion that Adeleke forged. With that, they would have satisfied themselves by way of propaganda, to curry undue sympathy from the public, on the basis of a non-existent forgery. That is Oyetola’s first dummy at the Tribunal.

The second dummy is the alleged over-voting. The APC has another dummy in their unsynchronised BVAS report. Their case is erected not on the actual BVAS machine figures and the result sheets, but on a report from the INEC server. By the provisions of the Electoral Act, 2022, section 62 thereof, any ctc of a document used for an election whether manual or electronic is a post-election procedure. This pre-supposes that it is not part of the election at all, as there is a procedure for step-by-step recording of votes during the election as provided for in the Electoral Act, 2022. To establish over-voting, it has to be on the basis of the physical materials deployed to the polling units during the election, in this case, the ballot papers, the electoral forms, the voters register and the BVAS machine itself.

The petitioners are not relying on any of these to establish over-voting but an external document, a total stranger to the polling unit during the polls. A certified true copy of a public document not in agreement with the original public document is like an illegitimate child. I laughed and laughed when a snippet of the cross-examination of a Deputy-Director became a subject of APC propaganda where she mentioned “seemingly over-voting”, but the portion where she explained that away was deliberately and wickedly kept away by the media propagandists. You cannot establish over-voting on the basis of any document aside the four I mentioned earlier. The witness explained this, but the media propagandists shouted to radio and TV stations (including TVC) where the issue of the purported admission of over-voting was discussed while the propagandist seemingly buried the explanation given by the witness under re-examination. A trip to the registry of the Tribunal for certified true copies of the proceedings and documents received in evidence whether with or without objection would have helped in the media analyses if the media would play their role of responsibility to the public.

These are the two giant dummies of Oyetola and his APC which are now having a date with fate at the Tribunal as dates for adoption of final addresses and judgement draw nearer.

The APC are propaganda personified. Save for very few among them, they are generally wicked, terrible and arrogant in power. They carry their business with reckless abandon and unparalleled impunity. In Osun, they converted and conferred by themselves, on themselves, many public assets and still roll out propaganda against the present administration for asking questions in that regard, for calling on them honourably to return state assets. Such is the set of immediate past political office holders in Osun that Osun people have been grappling with. They want to retain power at all cost, they never dreamt of leaving the corridors of power for a second. The “Aagbeelemo” crooners are now singing another song ” A ma gba pada”. They are planning based on their dummies at the Tribunal which have no wings to fly.

Their dummies, like all dummies, have no life and they now face a date with fate at the Tribunal.

Don’t Vote For Politicians Who Will Attack, Kill Bandits; They’re Our Warriors In Forests, Islamic Cleric, Gumi Tells Northerners
According to the cleric, bandits are warriors who shouldn’t be killed but negotiated with.

Controversial Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has warned Northerners against voting for politicians who won’t grant amnesty to bandits wreaking havoc across the region.

According to the cleric, bandits are warriors who shouldn’t be killed but negotiated with.

The Islamic cleric disclosed this during one of his recent sermons.

“Don't vote for those who will fight bandits. The fighters are our warriors in the forest……. Our people in the forest.

“So vote for those who after attaining power will call and negotiate with our people (bandits) so as to give them what they want for peace to reign.”

Gumi is known for visiting bandits in the forest in an attempt to negotiate a peace deal with them.

The controversial Islamic cleric had met with some suspected terrorists in the forests of Zamfara and Kaduna states.

He has asked the Nigerian government several times to grant amnesty to bandits as it gave to Niger Delta militants.

According to the cleric, military action against criminal herdsmen and bandits will not solve the security challenge, but “will only worsen the situation”.

He also said no military, especially in a poor economy can win guerrilla warfare, citing the recent victory of the Taliban in Afghanistan as an example.

The controversial Islamic scholar added that the government should spend billions of naira on building schools for terrorists and bandits instead of spending on security hardware.

Guber Tribunal: Governor Adeleke Is Educationally Qualified To Contest-Witness

Guber Tribunal: Governor Adeleke Is Educationally Qualified To Contest-Witness

The two pillars of Mr Gboyega Oyetola’s petition against the election of Governor Ademola Adeleke crashed today as a top witness, Rev Bunmi Jenyo confirmed the educational qualification of Governor Ademola Adeleke for Osun governorship.

While the forensic expert, Samuel Oduntan destroyed the allegations of over-voting, the Governor’s educational history and qualiificationa were also extensively attested to by the respondent’s witness.

Jenyo who testfied today at the Tribunal affirmed that it is public knowledge that to move from one institution to the other, you need the transcript of your cumulative academic record.

The respondents witness who affirmed that the Governor was more than qualified to contest posited that the Governor neither forge any certificate nor has any conflict in his certificates.

A Senior Assistant to Senator Ademola Adeleke, Jenyo was present the original copy of results and certificates used by Governor Adeleke during the Osun gubernatorial election.

Jenyo, during the cross-examination told the court that the Governor was never convicted for any forgery, both here in Nigeria and Abroad. Responding to questions, Jenyo said he was present in the United States of America when Senator Adeleke on the day of his graduation.

Responding on why taking him just 24 days to graduate from his first Diploma to a Degree in the USA. Jenyo said “The education system of the US allows you to move your cumulative records of your academic activities from one school to the other.”

Meanwhile, the sitting threw more light on the educational qualiifications and history of Governor Adeleke.

First, the Penn Foster High School certificate was not the basis of his admission and graduation with a university degree. The Penn Foster High School Diploma certificate is not in any way connected to his University Bsc Degree. It was a decision he took to ensure he satisfies agitation as to the status of his secondary education during the 2018 Osun Election.

The university degree was a cumulative outcome of his intermittent higher educational sojourn which started in June 1981 and concluded in August 2021.

His admission to the Jacksonville State University, Jacksonville Alabama USA in 1981 was not based on school certificate qualification but, Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), Academic College Test (ACT) which is equal to SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) alongside cumulative review of Academic Transcript comprising of results of promotion examinations from one secondary school class to the other ( Form 1- Form 5). That was a standard practice in the early 80s for admission into United States’s tertiary institutions;

All the schools attended at the United States confirmed the certificates, the transcripts and his sojourn across the various schools; The certificates and the schools were also reviewed and their legality confirmed by the Nigerian Federal Ministry of Education.

Admission to United States school in the 70s and 80s was not necessarily through school certificate qualifications. The conditions are mostly TOEFL, SAT or ACT. These are reviewed alongside your transcripts from secondary school like results of promotion examinations from one class to the other. The Governor entered Jacksonville State University, Jacksonville, Alabama with TOEFL, ACT and his secondary school transcripts in June 1981after due evaluation by the School authorities. He was a student of Jacksonville State University from June 1981 till December 1986.

He transferred his studentship to Atlanta Metropolitan State College ( formerly known as Atlanta Junior College) which is part of the University System of Georgia owned by the State of Georgia USA. He transferred to the school in January 1987, and attended in the 1987 school year and 1991 school year.He re-enrolled in August 2019, Fall semester and attended continuously up till August 2021 when he finally graduated with a BSc in Criminal Justice. The cumulative hours and courses he earned over the period as listed accounted for the short time for his degree after he re-enrolled in August 2019. He would have even graduated earlier but he took a additional classes to retake three courses he had earlier passed but which the school authorities said have become obsolete.

The transcripts submitted by the Senator showed the history of his university education. In fact, Jacksonville State University confirmed in writing that Senator Adeleke enrolled in June 1981 and left in December 1986.

The Penn Foster High School Diploma is not the basis for his admission to the university or his eventual Bsc Degree. He chose to attend the school and earn the high school certificate to fulfil the desire within Nigeria that stigmatises whoever has no Passing Grades in WASC.

Man Is Certain His Wife Died 3 Years Ago, Accidentally Meets Her on Vacation And The Unexpected Happened- Inspiring Story

Man Is Certain His Wife Died 3 Years Ago, Accidentally Meets Her on Vacation And The Unexpected Happened- Inspiring Story

Sam Jordan was still reeling from the loss of his lovely wife, Jenny, in a horrific car accident. Jenny had passed away three years before, leaving Sam to raise their little two-year-old daughter Mia alone.

Life had become a nightmare for Sam, dealing with his own grief and Mia’s. It took him over three years before he finally felt that he and Mia had achieved what could be loosely termed as a ‘normal’ life. And that was when he decided to take Mia on vacation.

Sam decided that a two-week getaway to sunny California would be a welcome break from their Colorado hometown. He found a nice B&B in Venice Beach, close to the ocean, and a lively colorful place Mia might enjoy.

Father and daughter quickly adapted to the leisurely rhythm of vacationland and settled into a daily routine of going to the beach in the morning, having lunch, then sightseeing in the afternoon.

Then, one afternoon, something extraordinary happened. Sam and Mia had stopped for ice cream when the now five-year-old cried, “Daddy, it’s MOMMY!” And in seconds Mia was gone, weaving through the crowd in the boardwalk.

Sam dropped the ice cream and started running after Mia, and caught up with her 100 meters away. “Mia!” he gasped, “You know you can’t run away from daddy!”

But daddy, it’s mommy!” Mia panted breathlessly, “She’s right there!” And Mia pointed at a couple standing a little further along looking at some handicrafts.

Sam dropped to his feet and took Mia’s little hands in his. “Honey, you know mommy’s gone to heaven…”

But Mia shook her head stubbornly. “No daddy, I recognized mommy from the picture on my wall. That’s mommy!” Sam was about to explain once again that Jenny was gone when the woman Mia had pointed out turned around.

The heart knows where it belongs.
Sam felt as if all the air in his body had been punched out of his body. It was Jenny! Or someone who was her twin! Sam was on his feet and moving towards the woman, taking Mia by the hand.

When they were just a few feet away, Mia broke free and threw her arms around the woman’s waist. “Mommy!” she cried. “Oh mommy! I knew it was you!”

The woman looked down at Mia and frowned, then she looked up at Sam and a bewildered expression flitted across her lovely face. Sam was about to apologize when the man standing next to her turned around.

It was Clive! His best friend Clive whom he hadn’t seen since Jenny’s funeral. “Clive,” he cried. “Man, you wouldn’t believe…” But something was very wrong because Clive looked terrified and grabbed the arm of the woman who looked like Jenny.

“We have to go!” he screamed.

The woman who looked like Jenny looked surprised. “Sam, what’s the matte?” she asked Clive. Sam? She thought Clive was SAM? Sam stepped forward and laid a heavy hand on Clive’s shoulder.

“What’s going on here, Clive? Who is this…lady?” he asked.

The woman who looked like Jenny smiled. “I’m Sam’s wife,” she said. “I’m Jenny.”

Mia, who still had her arms around the woman’s waist, cried triumphantly. “You see daddy, it IS mommy!”

“Mommy?” the woman said, touching Mia’s face gently. “I wish I were! I always wanted a little girl…I was going to call her…Mia.”

“I’m Mia!” the child said. “And you’re my mommy, and THAT is my daddy!”

Clive was pale as death and trying to squirm out of Sam’s iron grasp. “It’s not what you think!” he cried. “I didn’t plan it, it just happened…”

“What happened?” Sam asked.

After the accident…You know the car was so burned… We had the funeral…” Clive said. “Then one night I was watching a late-night missing persons show and they showed the photo of a woman who’d been found. It was Jenny! She’d had some kind of brain injury…She didn’t remember who she was, but doctors thought from the injuries and the burns she’d been in a bad crash. Then I remembered how Jenny was always picking up those young girls who hitchhiked… I guess that’s who died in the car, and Jenny was thrown clear.”

“Why didn’t you come to me?” cried Sam angrily, “Mia and I were mourning her, we were in such pain!”

Clive couldn’t look Sam in the eyes. “I loved Jenny. You knew it when you started dating her. You TOOK her from me, so I took her back…”

Jenny was listening to this in horrified silence. “You…You told me you were my husband,” she gasped. “You said my dreams about a baby girl were fantasy…YOU LIED TO ME!”

Clive was cringing from her anger, and Sam calmly dialed 911 and called the police. Later, he sat with Jenny and Mia and started sorting through the mess one man’s obsession had made of their lives.

Sam explained to Mia that mommy would probably take a long time to remember everything, and urged Jenny to be patient too. Jenny just smiled.

“These three years I always felt that something was WRONG. Sam — I mean Clive — told me I loved him, that he was my husband, but something wasn’t…right.” She reached for Sam and Mia’s hands. “Now it feels as if the world is finally coming right again!”

Speaking about the new development in the case at Rivers State Emblem Appeal Fund Launching on Tuesday, Nyesom Wike announced that the gunmen have been arrested.

Wike further revealed the Rivers State government will be giving the families of each murdered police officer N20 million each amidst praising the police for their efficiency.

He said;

“I think that we are tired in this country with every year meeting to launch the emblem to support families of the fallen heroes.

“What I thought, as is done in advanced countries, the day should be used for remembrance of their (veterans) efforts.

“That means, by now, as a country, we should have a standing fund that will take care of the families of the fallen heroes. That is what serious countries should be talking about.”
