Umumbiri Dispute: As Community Leaders Condemn Alleged Family Intimidation, Property Sales By Chinedu Anozie Dibia, Others
Tension surrounding a lingering family dispute in Umuokoji kindred in Umumbiri, Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State has drawn the attention of community leaders and the police, following allegations of harassment, unlawful sale of family properties, and threats by Chinedu Anozie Dibia with his side chick Mary John and Mrs Chimezie Francesca Etu.
The Reginald Anozie Dibia's family has always been a peaceful home until his death in August 2024.
According to a report issued after a special dispute resolution assignment initiated by the Ahiazu Mbaise Police Division on December 4, 2025, the Chairman of Aladimma Umumbiri Autonomous Community, Comrade Aloysius Iwuanyanwu, was mandated to intervene in the conflict involving Mr. Chinedu Anozie Dibia, his cohabiting partner Mary John and his half-sisters, Miss Ogechi and Nkeiruka.
In a report sent to this media house by the two victims Sisters which was signed by the Chairman of Aladimma Umumbiri Autonomous Community, Comrade Iwuanyanwu, and the Secretary, Mr. Ndulaka, the community leadership stated that the intervention was aimed at uncovering the root causes of the conflict and restoring peace among the affected family members.
In the Allegations of Harassment instituted by Chinedu and Mary, it was Dismissed, it was observed during the investigation, the community panel reportedly found no evidence to support claims made by Mr. Chinedu Anozie Dibia and his side chick Mary John that Ogechi and Nkeiruka were harassing her or attempting to disrupt her relationship with Chinedu.
Instead, the report alleged that Chinedu and Mary John had jointly created hardship for the two sisters following the burial of their father Pa Anozie in April 2025.
The report further noted that Mary John and Chinedu are cohabiting with a daughter, although their relationship has not been formalized through customary or religious marriage rites.
The Community leaders expressed concern over the arrangement and advised Chinedu to formally return Mary John to her parents to enable him to do the necessary customary marriage rites.
In an alleged Sale of Late Mother’s Properties, it was noted that one of the major findings in the report centered on the alleged sale of household items belonging to the late Mrs. Eileen Dibia without the consent of daughter who was said to be in custody of the properties.
Items reportedly sold included tripod stands, cooking pots, giant palm fruit pots, roofing sheets, wheelbarrows, wheelchairs, iron pots, basins, antenna poles, rakes, machetes and other household materials.
The report stated that objections raised by the sisters allegedly resulted in threats, intimidation, bullying and attempts to evict them from their late parents’ compound.
Community Condemns Conduct
In its decisions and recommendations, the Aladimma Umumbiri community strongly condemned what it described as the wrongful sale of the late mother’s household properties and denounced threats aimed at forcing Ogechi and Nkeiruka out of the family compound.
The community also directed Mr. Chinedu Anozie Dibia to apologize to his half-sisters for his conduct and alleged threats. However, the report noted that the directive had not been complied with as of the time the document was issued.
Additionally, Chinedu was advised to maintain peace and refrain from the use of Indian hemp and other narcotic substances.
Call for Peaceful Coexistence
Despite the tension, the community leadership said the intervention helped to clarify key issues and create a foundation for peaceful coexistence among the parties involved.
The report concluded by emphasizing the need for continued monitoring, dialogue and cooperation to sustain peace within the family and the wider community.
Meanwhile, Mrs Chimezie Francisca Etu alleged to be connected to the matter under investigation, in a wicked and selfish interests personal to her, the two victim Sisters accused Mrs Etu as been the master minder to the family disputes.
According to Ogechi and Nkeiruka, they said she is involved in instigating conflicts and creating unrest in the father's compound. She is also financing the wrong doings including buying of the India herm for Mr. Chinedu Dibia and other narcotics he is consuming.
They also Alleged and identified one of their sisters living in USA as a major sponsor and financier in connected to the alleged crimes; currently she is one of the Major financier, she also encouraged Chinedu to chase his half sisters with matches.
Speaking about Mary John, who hailed from Kogi, though lives in a brotel in Lagos. She came to live with Chinedu with another man's pregnancy and later hard a baby girl. According to her, she said Chinedu invited her to the village to help him push his half sisters out while pretending to be his woman. She alone farment troubles against Nkeriru and Ogechi.
Meanwhile, more Individuals Allegedly Linked to the ongoing Reginald Dibia's Family Dispute.
As alleged into the lingering family dispute involving Mr. Chinedu Anozie Dibia continue, additional individuals have been alleged to have connections to the matter currently under scrutiny by relevant authorities.
According to information made available to news men in Umumbiri, it was alleged that Mrs. Chimezis Francisca Etu (nÊe Anozie) has been accused by her sisters Ogechi and Nkeiruka that she has been instigating conflicts and contributing to unrest surrounding the dispute. She is further alleged to have provided financial support for activities connected to the matter, including the purchase of items reportedly used in carrying out the alleged acts.
In a similar situation, the two victim sisters also accused their younger sister Mrs. Onyinyechi Edith Alozie (nÊe Anozie), who is said to be residing in the United States of America, has been identified by accusers as a major sponsor and financier allegedly connected to the activities under investigation. Claims have also been made that she provided financially support through Mrs. Chimezie Etu. These allegations remain subject to verification by law enforcement authorities.
Also mentioned in the allegations is Mr. Alozie Njoku, husband of Mrs. Onyinyechi Alozie and a resident of the United States. He is alleged to have provided financial assistance and encouragement relating to actions taken against Mr. Chinedu's half-sisters. Investigators are expected to determine the validity of these claims.
Another individual named in the matter is Mary John, originally from Kogi State and currently residing in Lagos. According to statements attributed to her, she allegedly moved to the village at the invitation of Mr. Chinedu Anozie Dibia and was involved in efforts aimed at removing his half-sisters from the family property. She is further accused of being a central figure in disputes involving Nkeriru and Ogechi. These claims, however, remain allegations pending official findings.
Authorities have not yet released their final conclusions, and all individuals mentioned are presumed innocent unless proven otherwise through due legal process. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.

In a video and photographs that have since circulated widely on social media which happened on the 27th of April, 2026, the two alleged victims were seen making an emotional appeal to well-meaning Nigerians, the Imo State Government, and the Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area authorities to urgently intervene in their situation.
The ladies, who claimed to be facing intimidation, hardship, and displacement arising from the ongoing family dispute, called on relevant government agencies, community leaders, and human rights organizations to investigate their plight and ensure that justice is served.
According to the viral footage, they pleaded for protection of their rights and safety, while urging authorities to thoroughly examine the circumstances surrounding the conflict. The appeal has attracted public attention, with many social media users calling for a peaceful resolution of the matter and a fair investigation into all allegations raised by the parties involved.
As of the time of filing this report, authorities had not issued an official statement regarding the claims made in the video, while investigations into the dispute are said to be ongoing. All allegations remain subject to verification by the appropriate authorities.
