How Asari Dokubo solved the mystery of Unknown Gunmen

How Asari Dokubo solved the mystery of Unknown Gunmen
POSTED ON JUN 28, 2023|
By The Renaissance
UNDER former President Muhammadu Buhari, Nigeria’s Southeast region, the most peaceful at a time, suddenly exploded in a wave of inexplicable violence.
Prisons, police stations, court houses electoral commission offices and random public establishments were attacked by armed gangs and razed. Individuals were kidnapped, hacked to death or gunned down in broad daylight by hooded men who escaped without trace. Dr. Chike Akunyili, husband of Late Prof Dora Akunyili, one-time Minister of Information and DG of NAFDAC, was gruesomely murdered by these men in an attack which had no obvious aim other than to instill public fear. Many went missing and were never found. Gloom descended on the peoples of five states best known for their industry and enterprise.
For years, not a single one of those crimes was solved. Not a single culprit was successfully apprehended and prosecuted by law enforcement operatives.
Officially, fingers were promptly pointed at IPOB, the Biafra separatist organization, for every incident – sometimes even before investigations formally opened. IPOB vehemently denied these accusations. But government propaganda was too strong. Many soon believed the government and joined to demonize IPOB for mindlessly turning the region into a war front. Gradually though, everyone began to realize that there was something fishy in the official position.
Federal and state authorities had all the means to nab the gangsters, but preferred to issue increasingly sterile press statements instead. It soon became clear that the armed forces, police and other official security agencies were either in cahoots with the criminals or consciously turning a blind eye to their activities. In villages across the Southeast and North Central regions, locals began to notice that whenever the Army and Police showed up for patrols, Unknown Gunmen or armed “herdsmen” followed shortly afterwards.
It was as if the patrols were surveillance missions for the bad guys. So, villagers took the hint and scampered for safety whenever those who were supposed to protect them reported for duty. It was even law enforcement officials who coined the moniker, “Unknown Gunmen”(UGM) to describe criminal elements they were paid to hunt down.
People with experience in security matters soon concluded that Nigeria was dealing with “false flag operations” – crimes deliberately committed (in this instance by secret agents of the state) to incriminate an innocent party in order to achieve some dark political objectives. The problem was: There was no concrete evidence or proof to show the world. Those who were supposed to gather evidence were busy covering the tracks of the criminals.
Well, that mystery lasted until Asari Dokubo, the voluptuous and loquacious Niger Delta warlord, visited the Presidential Villa in Abuja as a guest of the new Nigerian leader, Bola Tinubu. It was only two weeks after the latter’s inauguration. At the end of his visit, Dokubo addressed a press conference from one of the chambers of the villa, a rare privilege accorded only to close allies of an administration.
Unable to control his impulses whenever in front of cameras and microphones, Asari said several things which have since become subjects of controversy. One of the few which almost evaded public scrutiny holds the key to the mystery of the Unknown Gunmen. He said he was “in charge of security in six states of the federation” and his boys were responsible for some of the successes in the security situation of the country for which the Armed forces often get credit.
To add color to this sketchy claim, he recounted an actual operational experience in these words: “… my men and I discovered a camp in Imo with hundreds of vehicles. Where are the owners? If you want me to show you pictures, I will show you. We discovered their camp, kicked their asses, and sent them to where they belong.”
President Tinubu meets Asari D
For the avoidance of doubt, Dokubo boasted: “I am a participant in this war, I fight on the side of the government of the Nigerian state; in Plateau, in Niger, in Anambra, in Imo, in Abia and in Rivers state and in Abuja. Today you’re traveling to Kaduna on this road, it’s not the army that makes it possible for you to travel to Abuja, or travel to Kaduna, vice versa. It is my men, employed by the government of the Nigerian state, stationed in Niger.”
In those words, Asari Dokubo blew his own cover. He owned up to working in an undercover capacity or as a non-state actor in a sector which belongs exclusively to the Federal Government. He owned up to extra-judicial killings. He mentioned specific theaters of operation – Imo State and the Abuja-Kaduna highway. He named those who hired and paid him – “the government of the Nigerian state.” It was like a painter framing his own masterpiece.
Three of those states named by Asari Dokubo (Anambra, Imo & Abia) are in the Southeast. Two others and the Federal Capital Territory (Niger, Plateau and Abuja) are in the Middle Belt. Another state (Rivers) is in the South-South. All named territories have one thing in common in the last few years – random, unsolved killings and attacks on members of the opposition, rural farming communities and government facilities. Anambra, Imo and Abia were the epicenter of unknown gunmen activities in the period leading up to the last elections. Niger and Plateau were the main theaters of operation for the so-called “Fulani herdsmen.” Kuje Prison within the FCT was attacked and inmates set free.
So, what exactly was Asari Dokubo’s “security brief” in a region (the Southeast) where Army and Police checkpoints adorn nearly every hundred meters of highway? What was he doing in a state (Imo) where a special military task force was assigned to “crush” separatist agitations? What was he paid to do for a country that boasts of about a dozen security agencies with hefty yearly federal appropriations? More still, what “contract” is Asari desperately lobbying to retain with the new administration of President Bola Tinubu for which reason he broke all protocols of civility to support the Tinubu candidacy and gain his attention before and during the last elections? Why has he been so vociferous with his anti-Igbo rhetoric in courting the Tinubu camp – knowing that Igbophobia is one of the favorite weapons of the APC in its struggle to retain power after the failed Buhari years?
If you read between the lines and fill in the blank spaces, all the fingers point in one direction – Asari Dokubo is the man behind the mask of Unknown Gunmen. He was recruited and paid by the Buhari Administration, working closely with the Imo State Governor (Hope Uzodimma), to help deal with the threat of Biafra in Southeast Nigeria by unconventional means. Asari Dokubo in turn recruited, coordinated and paid the men who carried out all those killings and criminal activities to blackmail IPOB and ESN. Plus at least some of the mysterious attacks on villagers and facilities in the Middle Belt region.
That’s what he meant when he boldly said, “I am a participant in this war.”
The trouble with people who talk too much is that they ultimately talk themselves into trouble. Asari Dokubo has now talked himself into deep trouble – beyond being broke. Not only has he antagonized the armed forces which he was recruited to “help”, he has also given away the identity of the evil masquerade terrorizing the neighborhood.
In trying so hard to corner the next “security contract” after squandering what he was earlier paid for hatchet jobs under President Buhari, Melford Asari Dokubo Goodhead  has given away his own secret position. He is like a drunken and unprofessional sniper who uses his weapon indiscriminately. His enemies can see clearly where the deadly shots are coming from. His position in the bushes is no longer a mystery. The sniper himself is now a sitting duck. It’s only a matter of time before he too is sniped. That’s the way the cooky crumbles. – Culled from therenaissance.

Lekki Port Receives First Transship Vessel With Cotonou-bound Containers

Lekki Port Receives First Transship Vessel With Cotonou-bound Containers

Lekki Port, Nigeria’s first deep seaport, said yesterday that it received CMA CGM Rimbaud, the first transship vessel to call at the port since it began operations in April 2023.

According to the management of the port, the transshipped cargo is bound for Cotonou in the Benin Republic and will be departing the Nigerian waters for Cotonou, its final destination, on July 6, 2023.

The vessel, which arrived at approximately 1.00 pm on Thursday, June 29, 2023, contains cargo from two of the largest container shipping lines in the world, CMA CGM and Maersk.

The service originated from the Far East, passing through Shanghai, Ningbo, Shekou, Nansha, Tanjung Pelpas, Singapore to Kribi, Cameroun, before finally arriving at Lekki Port today.

The vessel, which has a container handling capacity of 6,900 TEUs berthed at Lekki Port and discharged about 411 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) of transship containers.

The coming of CMA CGM Rimbaud confirms the projections of Mohammed Bello-Koko, managing director of the NPA.

He said in Lagos three weeks ago during the commissioning of the largest tugboats in Africa acquired for Lekki Port, that Nigeria has received expressions of interest from countries such as Cameron, Chad, and Niger to have their cargoes moved from Nigerian ports.

He said Lekki Port would not only serve as transship hub for those countries but will also reduce the waiting time for cargo.

Speaking on the milestone, Du Ruogang, managing director of Lekki Port, commended the Federal Ministry of Transportation and the Nigerian Ports Authority for their support in ensuring the commencement of transship activities at Lekki Port.

Laurence Smith, chief operating officer of Lekki Port said that all regulatory agencies operating at the port, particularly the Nigerian Customs Service worked together with Lekki Port and the container terminal operator, Lekki Freeport Terminal, to ensure a hitch-free arrival of the vessel and processing of cargo.

Lekki Port, with its state-of-the-art ship-to-shore cranes and sophisticated scanners, is now poised to position Nigeria as a transshipping hub of West Africa.

Since the altercation, there has been a significant amount of tension between the mother and her daughter, which the husband (Landlord) was completely unaware of.

Months later (just yesterday), the landlord’s daughter complained to her mother about her inability to flow during the month, so they checked her and discovered she was two months pregnant.

Federal Government Lifts Ban on Vehicle Importation Through Land Borders

Federal Government Lifts Ban on Vehicle Importation Through Land Borders

The federal government has lifted the ban on the importation of vehicles through land borders.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that this move is expected to breathe new life into economic activities within the border region.

During the previous administration, land borders between Nigeria and Cotonou, Benin Republic, were closed, and subsequently, the importation of vehicles through that route was prohibited. However, Ibrahim Musa, the Director of Road Transport in the Ministry of Transportation, revealed yesterday that the federal government has approved the reopening of the Seme border for vehicle imports.

This disclosure was made at an Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) meeting between officials from Nigeria and Benin. Musa cited the complaints of freight forwarders operating at the border as the driving force behind this decision.

During the visit of the ECOWAS Monitoring Team to the Seme-Krake Joint Border Post, Musa stated, “I was here with the former Minister of State for Transportation when the freight forwarders pleaded for the reactivation of the border to facilitate the free movement of goods and services. The former minister instructed us to prepare a memo on this matter, which was duly considered and forwarded to the government.”

Dera Nnadi, the Customs Area Controller of the Seme Border Command, also acknowledged the negative impact of the vehicle importation ban on customs revenue. He noted a decline in revenue since the implementation of the ban.

With the ban lifted, the anticipation is that the Seme border will witness a resurgence in trade and increased economic activity in the coming months.

Used My Life To Campaign, Yet You Frustrate Masses – Tinubu’s Supporter Laments Bitterly Over Subsidy Removal

Used My Life To Campaign, Yet You Frustrate Masses – Tinubu’s Supporter Laments Bitterly Over Subsidy Removal

A staunch supporter of Nigeria’s president, Bola Tinubu of the All Progressive Congress, (APC), Sir Kie Kie has lamented bitterly over the hardship and frustration the fuel subsidy removal has posed for his family and other average Nigerians across the country.

Naija News reports that subsidy removal in Nigeria has affected social and economic life of the average Nigerian, pushing many to endure inexplicable hardship and letting go of the things they can not afford.

Recall that Tinubu during his inaugural speech announced the removal of fuel subsidy on Monday, May 29, thus, bringing a new unfolding set of realities upon Nigerians across the country.

Speaking bitterly about the situation, Kie Kie noted that he and many other supporters of the current president had campaigned with their lives with the hope that he understood the plight of the masses and will ease the pain the last administration brought upon the country.

He, however, expressed disappointment at Tinubu’s silence since the subsidy removal, adding that the Tinubu-led government could have waited until the end of July to yank off the subsidy.

He noted that many of his friends and family can barely afford a meal as everything have become outrageously high.

He vowed to continue to voice his rage about the hardship and hunger until something drastic is done to cushion the effect of the impact of subsidy upon the average Nigerian.

Speaking in the video, Kiekie said: “We believed that youre the same person who was for the masses and not Peter Obi, who was a pretender. Some people are not eating, some people can’t walk freely now just because they campaigned for you. You can send us to prison, but we won’t let you rest until you do something.”

BREAKING: “I Have Directed Security Agencies to Arrest Those Behind the Incident” – Adeleke Reacts

Governor Ademola Adeleke has reacted to the chaotic incident during his visit to the Osogbo Eid praying ground on Wednesday morning.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the Governor of Osun State had abruptly left the prayer ground after a heated altercation with Ajibola Basiru, former Senate spokesperson, over seating arrangements.

In an official statement released by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Governor Adeleke expressed gratitude to God for his safety and that of his team. He further directed law enforcement agencies to apprehend those responsible for the incident.

The statement quoted the Governor as saying, “My fellow Osun citizens, I appeal for calm and urge everyone to continue celebrating the Sallah festival in peace. By the special grace of God, I am safe.”

He continued, “I have instructed security agencies to arrest the individuals behind the incident and ensure they face the full consequences of the law. The Commissioner of Police has received the directive to apprehend the culprits, regardless of their status or position.”

Meanwhile, the State Government has strongly condemned the orchestrated attacks launched by members of the All Progressives Congress against the Governor at the praying ground.

The public may recall a previous security alert concerning a malicious plot to disrupt the peace and stability of Osun State, the statement said.

“The government is particularly appalled by the actions of former Senator Ajibola Bashiru, who occupied the space reserved for the Governor at the prayer ground. Despite efforts to persuade him to vacate the area, he remained defiant,” the statement noted.

It further explained, “Members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) who advocated for respect for the Governor’s office were subjected to physical assault. The scene became chaotic by the time the Governor arrived for the prayer.”

“The government was even more shocked that thugs armed to the teeth were spotted all over the praying ground with security information that they were imported to eliminate the Governor and key government functionaries.

“The Governor who arrived at the venue hoping to observe the Eid prayers was practically surrounded by armed thugs, prompting security men to ferry the Governor into his jeep.

The statement revealed that the Governor attempted to enter the praying field, but the encirclement by armed thugs made it impossible, leading to his departure from the scene.

IMO Election: AA Guber Candidate, LKJ Ogunewe pledges to fight insecurity using traditional institutions

IMO Election: AA Guber Candidate, LKJ Ogunewe pledges to fight insecurity  using traditional institutions

By: Nwanma Ogidi

Candidate of the Action Alliance (AA) in the November 2023 Imo governorship election,  Maj.Gen. Lincoln Ogunewe (rtd), has pledged to partner traditional institutions in fighting insecurity if elected.
In a tweet, he tweeted on Monday, Ogunewe made the pledge while speaking at the inauguration of Mbaise people in Connecticut.
He described  traditional rulers as fearless and fair in their advisory and other roles and said that they would be of immense benefit in the fight against insecurity if properly carried along.
He decried what he described as the “waning respect for traditional institutions “ which he said has resulted in worsening insecurity as the traditional rulers, who are custodians of rural security, have been displaced.
" Growing up, I saw that our traditional rulers were accorded deep respect as royal fathers and were neither abused nor harassed by anyone or any institution.
"Thus they maintained their fatherly, dignified, reputable, honourable and unbiased position in an advisory capacity to all parties, fearless and fair in relating their advice and recommendations to individuals, communities, and governments as the case may be.
"Unfortunately, the respect accorded to Ndi Eze (traditional rulers) has waned over time because of the actions of ill-willed politicians in government so that they now live in a palpable fear of harassment or removal once their advice contradicts government opinion. This is very disheartening. “, he said.
He promised that if elected, he would support communities in the maintenance of  traditional institutions while not interfering with the process of the election of Ndi Eze.

He added that in order to eliminate harassment by the government, legislation will be passed to ensure that a process is followed in the suspension or removal of a traditional ruler and not by an individual's decision or by government fiat.

This , he said, would restore confidence in traditional institutions and aid the fight against insecurity especially at the grassroots.
“ Our government will partner with Ndi Eze to restore community values and reduce crime in our society.
“ We will address leadership failure head on. I stand for a greater, better Imo, today and always “, he said.

After 50 years of searching for greener pastures, 91-year-old man returns home with only walking stick
A 91-year-old Kenyan man left his home in search of greener pastures when he was in his 40s and he recently returned with one property.

The senior citizen identified as Samuel Machuka who disappeared 50 years ago without family members knowledge of his whereabouts came back with only a walking stick.

When he made a surprising return, it was the Provincial Administration that made it possible for him to be found in Wote, Makueni County.

The Standard reports that Machuka had been working as a casual laborer on a farm.

Despite having not seen him since he left home in the 1970s, the elderly man was joyfully welcomed by his family in Masabo village, Nyaribari Masaba Kisii, although only a few of his peers could recognize him.

His nephew, Robert Makomba, had previously worked with him in Mau Narok in 1995 before they lost touch due to the absence of communication channels.

Makomba expressed gratitude to the Provincial Administration and noted that as Seventh Day Adventist Christians, they would not hold any rituals, rather, warmly receive Machuka back home.

When asked about his marital status, Machuka said he had three informal marriages, but had no knowledge about the whereabouts of his wives.

Some of his elderly uncles who were still alive, were relieved over his return as they had been searching for him in vain. They also stated their willingness to support him in settling down.

Machuka was offered a portion of the family land to build a house and his relatives said that any woman he had children with in the course of his journey to an unknown destination would be welcomed back home.

Breaking: Sokoto Butcher Killed Over Accusations Of Blasphemy

Breaking: Sokoto Butcher Killed Over Accusations Of Blasphemy

A butcher named Usman Buda in Sokoto State was killed following accusations of making blasphemous remarks against the Holy Prophet.

The incident, which occurred during a dispute with another trader, took place around 8 am on Sunday at the main Sokoto Abattoir, according to Daily Trust.

An eyewitness told the platform, “Our leaders made a fruitless attempt to save him but they could not contain the crowd. They initially rescued him and hid him before they were overpowered.”

The crowd, largely composed of fellow butchers, reportedly beat Buda to death, with his body later removed by the police.

Close business associates also tried to intervene, with some of them reportedly suffering injuries and now receiving medical treatment.

According to a security officer who wished to remain anonymous, Buda originally came from Tambuwal local government area but was living in Gidan Igwe, Sokoto North local government area.

Buda was known for selling cow entrails at the Sokoto Fish and Vegetables market, also known as Kasuwan Dankure.

A neighbour, Malam Yusuf, expressed shock at Buda’s death, describing him as a religious individual and part of the Izala sect.

Yusuf stated, “There is no way he could make such a statement against the Holy Prophet. There must be a reason behind his murder.”

Other individuals in the market, including another butcher and a seller of perishable items, also expressed disbelief over the incident, suggesting that Buda’s popularity in his business may have generated envy amongst his colleagues.

The Sokoto state police confirmed the murder and reported that they had received a distress call about the incident.

A statement by the Public Relation Officer of the Command, ASP Ahmad Rufa’i, revealed that a team of policemen were led to the scene by the Commissioner of Police, Area Commander Metro, and DPO Kwanni, only to find the mob had dispersed and Buda left unconscious.

He was transported to Usmanu Danfodio Teaching Hospital Sokoto (UDUTH), where he was later confirmed dead.

5. Peter
He was crucified upside down on an x-shaped cross.
According to church tradition it was because he told his tormentors that he felt unworthy to die In the same way that Jesus Christ had died.

6. James
The leader of the church in Jerusalem , was thrown over a hundred feet down from the southeast pinnacle of the Temple when he refused to deny his faith in Christ. When they discovered that he survived the fall, his
enemies beat James to death with a fuller's club.
* This was the same pinnacle where Satan had taken Jesus during the Temptation.

7. James the Son of Zebedee,
was a fisherman by trade when Jesus Called him to a lifetime of ministry. As a strong leader of the church, James was   beheaded at Jerusalem. The Roman officer who guarded James watched amazed as James defended his faith at his trial. Later, the officer Walked beside James to the place of execution. Overcome by conviction, he declared his new faith to the judge and Knelt beside James to accept beheading as a Christian.

His followers reported that, when he was led toward the cross, Andrew saluted it in these words: 'I have long desired and expected this happy hour. The cross has been consecrated by the body of Christ hanging on it.' He continued to preach to his tormentors For two days until he expired.

10. Thomas
Was stabbed with a spear in India during one of his missionary trips to establish the church in the Sub-continent.

Was killed with arrows when he refused to deny his faith in Christ.

12. Matthias
The apostle chosen to replace the traitor Judas Iscariot, was stoned and then beheaded.

13. Paul
Was tortured and then beheaded by the evil Emperor Nero at Rome in A.D. 67. Paul endured a lengthy imprisonment, which allowed him to write his many
epistles to the churches he had formed throughout the Roman Empire. These letters, which taught many of the foundational Doctrines of Christianity, form a large portion of the New Testament.

Perhaps this is a reminder to us that our sufferings here are indeed minor compared to the intense persecution and cold cruelty faced by the apostles and disciples during their times For the sake of the Faith. And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: But he that endureth to the end shall be saved.
Pass on to encourage other Christians
Why Do we feel sleepy in Prayer,
But stay awake through a 3 hour movie?
Why are we so bored when we look at the HOLY BOOK,
But find it easy to read other books?
Why is it so easy to ignore a msg about God,
Yet we forward the nasty ones?
Why are Prayers getting smaller,
But bars and clubs are expanding
Why is it so easy to worship a celebrity,
But very difficult to engage with God?
Think about it, are you going to forward this?
Are you going to ignore it, cause you think you will get laughed at?
Forward this to all your friends.
80% of you won't forward this.
God  said: If you deny me in front of your friends, I will deny you on the day of judgment:

When one door closes, God opens two: If God has opened  doors for you, send this message to everyone on your contact list.

Man divorces wife 2 days after she fought with his mother over food ‘on their wedding day’

A  marriage of only two days has come to an end as the newlywed husband has filed for a divorce, citing his wife’s disrespectful behavior towards his mother.

This story was shared by Nigerian zoologist Abdullah A Abdullah, who sought advice from netizens.

Man divorces wife 2 days after she fought with his mother over food 'on their wedding day'
Man divorces wife 2 days after she fought with his mother over food ‘on their wedding day’
According to Abdullah’s account, the husband’s decision to seek a divorce was triggered by an incident that occurred during their wedding reception.

At that time, some guests from the groom’s mother’s side arrived when the available food was running out. The only remaining delicacy was a portion of food that the bride had set aside for her own parents.

The mother-in-law approached her daughter-in-law and discreetly requested some of the food to share with the newlyweds, as it seemed unfair for them to have nothing after traveling from afar.

However, the bride firmly refused, insisting that the food was meant solely for her parents.

Despite the mother-in-law’s pleas, the bride took back the food and poured it into the cooler. This action prompted the mother-in-law to slap her son’s wife, who retaliated in response. Although the husband learned about the altercation, he decided not to create a scene during the wedding reception. However, two days later, he filed for a divorce.

Abdullah mentioned that the divorce case is currently ongoing, and despite his mother’s appeals for forgiveness and reconciliation, the husband remains adamant in his decision.

BREAKING: Tinubu Reveals Why He Suspended Emefiele as CBN Governor

BREAKING: Tinubu Reveals Why He Suspended Emefiele as CBN Governor.
President Bola Tinubu has revealed the reasons behind his decision to suspend Godwin Emefiele as the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that he made the revelation in a recent interactive session with Nigerians residing in France and neighbouring European countries.

President Tinubu expressed his concern over the state of the country’s financial system under Emefiele’s leadership, describing it as rotten. He highlighted that this system allowed a select few to engage in illegal money-making activities while Nigerians in the diaspora faced difficulties in sending money back home due to multiple exchange rates.

However, President Tinubu assured the audience that such issues are now a thing of the past, as the responsible party is now in the custody of law enforcement agencies.

He stated, ““Then the financial system was rotten. Few people making bags of our money and then you yourself, you stopped sending money home to our poor parents. Several windows… but that is gone now, is gone.”

President Tinubu emphasised that appropriate actions are being taken to address the situation, stating, “The man is in the hands of authorities, something is being done about that, they will sort themselves out.”

On June 9, President Bola Tinubu suspended Godwin Emefiele from his position as CBN Governor, and subsequently, Emefiele was apprehended by the Department of State Services (DSS) while attempting to flee the country through a land border.

Emefiele faces several charges, including allegations of sponsoring terrorism.

Traditionalists Call Out Gospel Singer, Tope Alabi For Using Their Slang During Church Ministrationalist

Traditionalists Call Out Gospel Singer, Tope Alabi For Using Their Slang During Church Ministrationalist

Popular Nigerian Gospel singer, Tope Alabi has been asked by Yoruba traditionalists to identify with them for using their slang.

This comes after Tope Alabi used the word ‘aboru aboye’ while ministering in a church.

The word ‘aboru aboye’ is a popular phrase used by a particular sect of traditional worshippers to greet each other.

Many social media users bashed her for using such words in a church while others queried her spirituality.

nicephorelworld_ wrote: Looking at where Tope Alabi is coming from via Ajanaku saga, she needs to be careful with the kind of message she is passing with her song. Not again! Aboru Aboye yes is Yoruba language with a meaning and significant with Isedale (traditionalist). Please, gospel musicians should beware and not bring confusion into the church and Christian community as a whole. Let’s know where you belong abeg. Oversabi is what is killing us in Nigeria. Abor aboye bawo in the church of God…. I am yet to get over the Ajanaku story o, bcos Tope Alabi is someone I hold in high esteem when it comes to music and gospel and that story really disorganized or messed up my perception about her. Please let me recover fully from that.

Olaxie100 wrote, “She’s not supposed to use that word but if you think she is right then why are we not saying ase in church instead of Amen??

Recall that Tope Alabi was linked to the late Prophet Ajanaku, who was reportedly into traditional religion.

Speaking out on their relationship after his passing, Tope Alabi revealed that she had distanced herself from him even before the scandal.

Alabi, who was rumored to be having an affair with the prophet, said there was nothing sexual between both of them.

According to her, she had already parted ways with the late man of God before rumors of his diabolic ways came to the fore.

NEWSEmefiele Allegedly Identifies Top Traditional Rulers, Army Generals, Judges As Accomplices In Corruption Case

Emefiele Bankrolled Okowa To Emerge Atiku's Running Mate - Adeyemi
The suspended Governor of Central Bank (CBN), Godwin Emefiele currently in the Department of State Services (DSS) custody, has reportedly disclosed the involvement of several high-ranking officials, including traditional rulers, army generals, and judges, as his accomplices.

This was disclosed by DSS sources that spoke with SaharaReporters.

It’s said that Emefiele has been “cooperating with investigators,” recounting instances of how he gave money to these influential figures during his tenure.

Both Emefiele and Abdulrasheed Bawa, the suspended Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), were relieved of their duties by President Bola Tinubu’s administration following allegations of corruption and abuse of office.

Both men are currently under detention.

The platform further stated that Emefiele had implicated Bawa in a scam involving the redesign of the Naira, Nigeria’s currency.

New details from DSS sources suggest that Emefiele is divulging significant information, highlighting major accomplices in the mismanagement of Nigeria’s apex bank.

The source was quoted as saying, “As per Emefiele, he is cooperating with investigators and revealing a lot. Emefiele corrupted and bribed almost every major traditional ruler, army generals, some judges and clerics.

“Almost all the CBN directors are also being quizzed and they too are cooperating.”

In 2022, then-President Muhammadu Buhari, along with Emefiele, announced new designs for the N200, N500, and N1,000 Naira notes.

However, this policy sparked a cash crisis, resulting in a shortage of Naira notes and long lines at banks and ATMs.

Emefiele and former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, allegedly approached Bawa to suggest the redesign of the Naira to prevent potential money laundering during the 2023 election, which they suspected to be aided by large cash reserves of Bola Tinubu, then-presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress.

A source that spoke with the platform said, “Emefiele who is currently cooling his feet in the cell of the DSS is the reason why the EFCC chairman has been detained overnight. Emefiele who is cooperating with the DSS claimed that Bawa was the one who raised a memo to former President Muhammadu Buhari, asking that the Naira should be redesigned to stem money laundering during the 2023 election.

“Bawa confronted him that he (Emefiele) and the former Attorney-General of the Federation, Malami were the ones that came to him to raise the memo because they suspected Tinubu had warehouses stuffed with naira notes.”

JUST IN: Peter Obi Reacts to Bill Gates’s Recent Comment on the “Japa” Syndrome

JUST IN: Peter Obi Reacts to Bill Gates’s Recent Comment on the “Japa” Syndrome

The presidential candidate of Labour Party in the 2023 election, Peter Obi, has voiced his thoughts on Bill Gates’ recent statement regarding the “Japa” syndrome.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu met with Aliko Dangote, Chairman of the Dangote Group, and Bill Gates, co-founder of Microsoft, on Monday at the State House in Abuja.

Gates’ visit to Nigeria aimed to address global health and development matters with national and local leaders, foundation partners, grantees, scientists, and young innovators.

During an interactive session titled ‘Advancing Africa: Unleashing the Power of Youth in Science and Innovation’ held in Lagos State on Wednesday, Gates expressed his belief that the significant outflow of young Nigerians also holds numerous advantages for the nation.

“In a sense, people leaving is a good thing if you up the amount of training you’re doing,” Gates stated. “Having a big diaspora that includes people coming back into business, into government – that’s a very healthy thing.”

In response to Gates’ comment, Obi took to his official Twitter account to share his thoughts:

“I read and agree with Bill Gates’s recent comment on the “japa” syndrome, where, according to reports, he stated that the recent surge of Nigerian professionals leaving the country for greener pastures is good and healthy for our country.

“I have always preached and maintained this same position on the “japa wave”. For years now, and throughout my campaign in the last Presidential election, especially during my tours from Canada, the USA, Germany, the UK, and other countries,

“I maintained that “Our brain drain today will be our brain gain tomorrow.” Nigerians leaving the country may look like a loss today, but when we start doing the right things and taking the governance of our nation more seriously, the knowledge and resources from them will be critical in the building of the New Nigeria, as it happened in China, India, Ireland and other developing countries.

“Today, India prides itself as one of the countries with the biggest tech talents in the world, having produced some of the world’s top engineers and computer scientists. Many top global tech companies are headed by CEOs of Indian origin.

“So India’s success in the tech industry can partly be attributed to its ability to harness the knowledge and resources of Indians in the diaspora for their national growth.

“Nigeria will grow and develop on all fronts when we build the New Nigeria that prioritises investment in education, health, and support for small businesses, guarantees respect for the rule of law, security of lives and properties, and unity of the nation.

“Then our diasporan Nigerians around the world will return home with their global training, skills and resources, to immeasurably contribute to building a New and better Nigeria. We will not give up on our dreams for the New Nigeria. -PO

Cocoyam, food men with enlarged prostate should relish

Cocoyam, food men with enlarged prostate should relish

AMIDST the increasing global incidence of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and the promising potential of nutraceuticals as complementary therapies in ameliorating its burden, experts say cocoyam could serve as a safe food in the prevention and treatment of enlarged prostate.

In a new study, researchers said cocoyam, a commonly consumed food, can provide better options for management and/or prevention of enlarged prostate since it has fewer side effects, with the capacity to reduce prostate weight, total protein, as well as prostate specific antigen level.

An enlarged prostate is often called benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). It is not cancer but a health issue that becomes more common with age. The prostate is a small gland that helps make semen. It’s found just below the bladder and it often gets bigger as a man gets older.

It can cause symptoms such as blocking the flow of urine out of the bladder. It also can cause frequent or urgent need to urinate, urinating more often at night, trouble starting to urinate, dribbling at the end of urination, a weak urine stream or a stream that stops and starts.

Many treatments can help prostate enlargement. These include medicines, surgery and other procedures. But the right option depends on things such as the symptoms, size of the prostate and other coexisting health problems.

These treatment options are associated with severe side effects, including but not limited to organ toxicity and sexual dysfunction.

Cocoyam (Colocasia esculenta) is an important tropical root crop grown purposely for its starchy corms or underground stem. It is regarded as one of the most important staple crops in the Pacific Islands, Asia and Africa.

Various ethnic groups in Nigeria have different names for cocoyam, which attested to its nationwide distribution and use. It is known as ede/akaso/uli in Ibo, guaza in Hausa and koko pupa in Yoruba.

It has been used for treatment of various ailments, including asthma, arthritis, diarrhea, internal hemorrhage, neurological disorders and skin disorders. A decoction of the leaves is drunk to promote menstruation and to relieve stomach problems.

In New Guinea, the leaves are heated over a fire and are applied as a poultice to boil and the sap of the leaf stalk is used in treating conjunctivitis.

The researchers at the Ebonyi State University, in collaboration with their Ugandan contemporaries had looked at the safety and how constituents of cocoyam caused a reduction in prostate weight, total protein as well as prostate specific antigen level. They said cocoyam protection against prostate enlargement is comparable to finasteride.

The report was in the June edition of the journal, BMC Complementary Medicine and Therapies.

Finasteride is the conventional medicine used to treat men with an enlarged prostate. It can help ease symptoms of enlarged prostate like difficulty to start urinating or urinating urgently or frequently more often. For instance, it is known to decrease the size of the prostate gland by about 25 percent.

In this study, 45 male albino rats were randomly assigned to nine groups of five rats each. Group 1 (normal control) received olive oil and normal saline. Group 2 (BPH untreated group) received 3 mg/kg of testosterone propionate (TP) and normal saline, and Group 3 (positive control) received 3 mg/kg of TP and 5 mg/kg of finasteride.

Treatment groups four, five, six, seven, eight and nine received 3 mg/kg of TP and a middle dose (200 mg/kg) of LD50 of ethanol crude tuber extract of C. esculenta (ECTECE) or hexane, dichloromethane, butanone, ethyl acetate and aqueous fractions of ECTECE respectively for a period of 28 days.

Afterwards, vital organs like the liver, kidney, heart as well as prostate and testes were collected as well as blood samples from the animals for tests.

In general, cocoyam’s protection against prostate enlargement is comparable to finasteride. There was a significant increase in mean relative prostate weight (approximately five times) as well as a reduction in the relative weight of the testes approximately 1.4 times less). There was no significant difference in the average relative weights of most vital organs: liver, kidneys and heart.

Also, there was no significant difference in red blood cell, haemoglobin, platelet counts and other blood parameters. The cocoyam fractions induced changes in total serum (the liquid portion of the blood) which were comparable to the standard treatment (finasteride).

According to the researchers “Data from the biochemical and hematological parameters of our study do not show evidence of toxicity. However, we observed a decrease in body weights of the treatment group. This is suggestive of a potential cellular response to arrest prostate enlargement through breakdown of tissue proteins.”

Also, they suggested that the relatively lower prostate weights in some of the groups of animals indicate that these treatments may be able to reduce the enlargement in the prostate at the lower doses utilised in this investigation.

Previously, researchers have reported non-significant differences in blood counts in rats fed with cocoyam made feed. Also, a report said intake of leaves of cocoyam is safe in reducing body fat deposit and ameliorate the effect of obesity-triggered fatty liver.

Ex-OAU student murder: Adedoyin, two others appeals death sentence

The owner of Hilton Hotels, Ile-Ife, Osun State, Dr Ramon Adedoyin, and two of his staff members convicted for the murder of ex-Masters student of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Timothy Adegoke, by an Osun State High Court, have filed appeal against the verdict before a superior court.

Recall that the Osun State Chief Judge, Adepele Ojo, who presided over the matter, in her judgment, had sentenced Adedoyin, and two of his staff members that participated in the evacuation of the deceased from the hotel, Adeniyi Aderogba and Oyetunde Kazeem, to death by hanging.

Justice Ojo also ruled that the hotel where Adegoke’s death occurred should be forfeited to the state government, while education of the deceased’s children should be funded till they complete tertiary institution from the estates of the convicts.

The judge, however, freed three staff members of the hotel namely; Magdalene Chiefuna, Oluwole Lawrence, and Adebayo Kunle, while the seventh defendant, Adesola Adedeji, who was the receptionist on duty on the day late Adegoke arrived at the facility, was sentenced to two years imprisonment starting from the day of her arrest.

Confirming that the convicts had appealed the judgment of the Osun State High Court on the matter, one of the lawyers that represented Adedoyin in the case, Mr Muhydeen Adeoye, during an interview with our correspondent on Thursday, said, “We have filed an appeal against the judgment of Osun State High Court. The appeal was filed before the Court of Appeal, Akure.”
