The Need for Change of Guard at Douglas House, Owerri (By Chidistone,)To be optimistic about the happenings in Imo state, one would not hesitate to declare Imo state as a red flashpoint in Nigeria and if not properly managed, would consume it's occupant with a blown out. From 2020 till date, it has been clearly noted that the present government has lost the security architecture of the state thereby making it possible for insecurity to be a threat to the State with reports of various criminal activities coming incessantly. Banditry, kidnappings, insurgency, ritual killings and even cannibalism and unresolved cases of assassination have become the order of the day here in Imo state under the watch of governor Hope Uzodimma. Some of the implications of insecurities in Imo state are 1. Disruption and crippling of Economic Activities of the state. 2. Protracted insecurity in Imo state has depressed the consumer confidence in the state which in turn, reduces consumer spending. Not only does insecurity affect individual spending; it has also affected businesses who, due to the uncertainty insecurity created, put off investment decisions. This certainly affects economic output and contributed in the slow-growth of the state. 3.Insecurity in Imo state is one of the major reasons for no Presence of local or foreign investors in the state in the last four years. There are so many other implications but we will mention this few. Moreover,Ndi Imo is now saying that there is need for a change of guard at Douglas house Owerri. A guard who would ensure security for it's citizens, who would eradicate corruption, empower women, and increase access to education and health care for ndi Imo. But, on this note, the odds fall on Lincoln Jack Ogunewe to be the new guard ndi Imo looks for. A retired Army General with stable character and a man who has assured ndi Imo of his willingness to be a servant leader and would protect his votes if voted.
