Gospel singer Tope Alabi has taken legal steps to protect her reputation following social media allegations linking her to the death of gospel minister Toluwanisings

Gospel singer Tope Alabi has taken legal steps to protect her reputation following social media allegations linking her to the death of gospel minister Toluwanisings.

On Friday, October 23, 2026, the singer shared a formal legal notice on Instagram, issued by her lawyers, Oakmount Legal Practitioners, warning Nigerians against spreading false or defamatory claims about her.

The allegations reportedly came from Facebook videos posted on October 22 and 23 by a woman identified as Pastor Tayo Ministries, who allegedly linked Tope Alabi, Woli Agba, Dele Omo Woli and Woli Arole to Toluwanisings’ death.

Toluwanisings, whose real name was Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, died on October 14 at the age of 41. His family announced his death without disclosing the cause.

In the notice, Tope Alabi’s lawyers warned that anyone who publishes, shares or forwards defamatory content could face legal consequences. They also threatened possible court action, damages, injunctions, retractions and public apologies.

The lawyers stressed that the notice was not intended to silence truthful reporting or legitimate commentary, but to protect their client from false and damaging allegations.
