We have suffered" Oko-Oloyun's Parent Narrates

“We have suffered"
Oko-Oloyun's Parent Narrates

Recall that the Late Alhaji Fatai Yusuf, Oko-Oloyun, was killed on January 23, 2020, when unknown assailants opened fire on his two-car convoy on the Abeokuta-Iseyin road in Oyo State. It’s almost three years since his gruesome murder, and the case remains unsolved to date.

It was later reported that the wife of the deceased, Wuraola Titilayo remarried a famous socialite known as Aremu Abiola in a quiet society arrangement. This case has generated a lot of reactions from people querying how she remarried barely three years after her husband’s demise.

A follow-up story on this case brings about an explanation from the parents of Oko-Oloyun, Alhaji Amuda Yusuf and Alhaja Wulemot Yusuf, who have spoken extensively on their experience and travail after the demise of their son.

Father of late Oko-Oloyun, Alhaji Amuda Yusuf explained that the deceased was killed on his way to visit him to inspect a building project he was coordinating for him (the deceased).

He explained that precisely six days after Oko-Oloyun’s death, the wife and her family visited to claim the deceased’s properties. He added that on the 14th day of his death, no fewer than 40 relatives of his wife came to claim his properties again, even when the death was still fresh.

Alhaji Yusuf explained how they (the parents) were barred from seeing the remains of Oko-Oloyun before he was buried.

He also explained that after a series of legal, physical, and spiritual threats, the wife insisted that the unused materials budgeted for the building project before Oko Oloyun’s death be given to her.

“We had been invited to the court 18 times. The EFCC also came to check the veracity of her claim, and we have always been vindicated.

“We can’t inherit our son. It is immoral in Yorubaland, and we didn’t see anybody to support and stand by us. Everyone abandoned us.

“We have suffered, Oko-Oloyun’s friends and associates were nowhere to be found during this challenging period. The wife had turned our grandchildren against us. God will judge her. We have left her to God to deal with her.

“She was a maid in a canteen before our son married her. After the death of our son, she later came to claim she borrowed our child a sum of 10 million naira.

“The wife didn’t allow us to have the time to investigate the killing. She tried all means to get us killed but God has been keeping us alive.

“Even after she remarried, she insisted on inheriting the properties of her late ex-husband”, Oko-Oloyun’s father narrated.

Recounting how the deceased died, his father maintained that the car was an automatic gear type and if the driver had opened the door, Oko-Oloyun might have escaped death.

He added that the two policemen in his convoy did not attempt to defend or repel these assailants while only Oko Oloyun was killed in the cold assassination.
