Algeria 2023: Nigeria IN as CAF Announces UNIFFAC U-17, U-20 Qualifiers Pairings
CAF has announced the pairings of the TotalEnergies U-17, U-20 AFCON qualifiers in the UNIFFAC zone with Nigeria, Egypt who are the host, Tunisia and seven others among those that have already secured thier spots for the competition.
The other qualifed teams are; Benin, Senegal, Gambia, Uganda, South Sudan, Mozambique and Zambia.
Cameroon, who are the defending champions of the U-17 AFCON will face Chad, Congo and DR Congo, Central Republic for the remaining two ticket slot with Cameron hosting DR Congo in thier first game although date is still yet unannounced.
The two teams that will finish top of the UNIFFAC qualifiers, will secure their places for the Continental youths football jamboree, which will take place in Algeria from April 8 to 30, 2023. It will be the first edition of the TotalEnergies under 17 AFCON with 12 Nations participating, after the 2021 edition scheduled in Morocco, failed to hold because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The UNIFFAC Zone will also vibrate to the tune of the TotalEnergies U20 AFCON qualifiers later this year, with Cameroon expected to host the event from December 07 to 18. The seven countries taking part in the UNIFFAC Zone qualifiers, have been paired in two groups, with Group A consisting of Congo, DR Congo, Sao Tomé and Principe and the Central African Republic.
In Group B, Cameroon will face neighboring Chad and Equatorial Guinea.
The teams to finished top of their various groups, will complete the list of teams qualified for the competition that will be played in Egypt next year.
