UNEMPLOYMENT:

Imo State has again retained its position as the country’s unemployment capital with 50.64 per cent of its 4.93 million population unemployed as Nigeria’s unemployment rate rose to 33.3 per cent in 2020 till date.

This was revealed in the latest labour force report for fourth quarter 2020 published by the National Bureau of Statistics.

NBS said, “In the case of unemployment by state, Imo State recorded the highest rate of unemployment with 56.64 per cent.”

Unemployment is one of the primary concerns in the present world. A lot of people are dealing with unemployment. The measures to solve unemployment problems are as follows:

*Change in Industrial Technique:* To solve the unemployment problem, plans to employ a production technique focusing on the needs and means of the state to be adopted. Capital-intensive technology would be replaced by labor-intensive technology.

*Dealing with Seasonal Unemployment:* Agro-based and agriculture sectors provide only seasonal employment. Ogunewe plans to deploy Measures like multi-cropping, animal husbandry, horticulture, plantation, and horticulture. Also, industries like the cotton industry, palm oil will be promoted.

Changes In The Education System: There is a need to change the present education system in Imo State. A system that would emphasize on vocational education rather than imparting static knowledge.
