Insecurity: Some times, we are asked not to attack terrorists- Army Captain reveals

Insecurity: Some times, we are asked not to attack terrorists- Army Captain reveals

According to a news that was published by the Vanguard Newspaper Online yesterday evening, it was reported that a serving army captain, who spoke to Vanguard correspondent under the condition of anonymity, has revealed the reason why there has been persistent attacks by terrorists in the country against military personnel and civilians as well.

While he was talking and expressing that he was frustrated by the situation of security in the country, he said that, the Nigerian government do negotiates with the terrorists, as they do send delegates to discuss with them inside their hideouts in the forest.

He said, the most annoying part of it was that, the government do grant them amnesty without asking them (terrorists) to disarm and that in some places, soldiers will be told not to attack the terrorists for no reason.

On the other hand, he said he was also embarrassed by the attack that was carried out by the terrorists on the Presidential Guards Brigade, while they were returning from the Nigerian Law School which is located at Bwari Area Council, as military claimed they killed over 30 terrorists the following day.

Do you think the Nigerian government is not doing enough to curb the issue of insecurity in the country ?

GOVERNORS BEWARE!

Press statement by High Chief Tola Adeniyi,
Jagun Oodua Adimula ll of Yorubaland.

The tactical withdrawal from the National Assembly and subsequent close down of the hallowed Chambers was a smart move by the senators and members of the House of Representatives to escape possible attack by the rampaging terrorists who are firmly in control of the Abuja Federal Capital Territory.

The Buhari one-man Dictatorship in Abuja has had to shut down public and private schools in the Federal Capital Territory and its environs following the unprecedented assault on Kuje Maximum prison in Abuja which led to the escape of over 600 fiercest criminals in the correctional centre and the brazen attack on the elite Presidential Brigade of Guards. It has never been this bad.

Events in the last few months which were just an escalation of the preceding gory security challenges point only in one direction that the imported terrorists unleashed on Nigerians were up to something more calamitous than were ever imagined. It is now crystal clear to all discerning minds that the hyperbolically hyped purported political party primaries, preparations for invidious population census, and mindless bills on Constitution Review and Water Resources were just a ruse and monumental distraction to cover up the gargantuan plan of Fulanisation of the country and worse, annihilation of indigenous nationalities.

It is obvious to even the dullest in the country that the taciturn General who gleefully invited all possible terrorists from all over West, North and Central Africa to empty themselves on Nigerian soil without passport or Visa was definitely up to something; perhaps the motivating desperation for seeking Nigerian presidency on four trials.

The chicken has now come home to roost with everything running out of control and both the puppeteers and their puppets are in mutual confusion and ecstasy. But there is method to their madness and that message is not lost on trained minds.

This is where the so-called Governors who in reality are mere glorified servants and serfs of the unpretentious Emperor in Abuja come in. They were severally warned when terrorists armed to the teeth were being off-loaded on their states by Dangote trucks.  They saw with their eyes when hundreds of thousands of motorcycle saddled terrorists were being strategically distributed to their cities, towns, villages and hamlets and yet feigned blindness and deafness.

For over 40 years, since my days in the Nigerian Tribune, we have been crying for the decentralisation of the extremely parochial and partisan Federal Police Force [in an obvious Unitary  system of government] and the establishment of regional, state, local government and even metropolitan police to address safety and security challenges. We had all these tiers of policing before the Jack-boot dictators and tyrants killed the Federal Government our founding fathers bequeathed to Nigeria.

Governors in the states of indigenous nationalities were not unaware that various forms of armed police were proliferated in some sections of the country and yet could not, definitely out of timidity, stupidity, lack of political will and gnawing servitude, stand up to the ghost that was blocking the desideratum, even when the entire country said loud and clear that they wanted state police.

Now, with Abuja under severe credible threat of being overrun, and citizens all over the country exposed to terrorist attacks and abduction everywhere including in their homes, is it not clear that governors are lame ducks that can be slaughtered with relative ease?

If the gallant members of the Presidential Brigade of Guards could be easily worsted and the President’s advance Convoy attacked, who is there to stop 1000 heavily armed Okada terrorists from abducting any governor from their offices or homes? This is the crux of the matter. Instead of Lagos state government donating helicopters and over 2-billion-naira worth of equipment and ammunitions to Abuja controlled police, and Government in Ogun state giving thousands of guns to Abuja, why didn’t these states establish their own police to protect their Orisas as Sharia states created Hisbah police to protect their faith?

It is clear that the country known as Nigeria is about to collapse, disintegrate, and the original nations will emerge. It is therefore imperative that Governors must act now. With the Abuja legislators on the run, probably in hiding in various locations in the Capital Territory since fear of terrorist attack would not allow them to travel to their constituencies, and with the President living in the air, it is only the poor Governors that are left on ground.

They must cry out to the world. They must speak out. They should not leave it to Governors Matawalle, Akeredolu, Ortom and Obaseki alone. Governor Ortom went to the US and Europe. Each and every one of you should go out and expose the shenanigans that are about to send Nigeria to its grave.

State Governors should as a matter of utmost urgency get their Assemblies to pass a law for the establishment of state police and go ahead to arm such recruits to the keel. Dare the Sharia lawyer and second husband to Buhari’s daughter and his shadowy patrons and godfathers. Governors have immunity, and besides, you cannot be law abiding in a lawless country. No one can accuse anybody of treason or attempt to overthrow a Federal Government that is patently absent and unseen.

Brigade of Guards: We saw terrorists' torchlight from Veritas University and we went after them

According to a news that was published by the Vanguard Newspaper Online this afternoon, it was reported that a viral voice note allegedly from one of the soldiers in the Presidential Guards Brigade who were ambushed by terrorists few days ago in Abuja, explained how some officers of the Brigade were killed by terrorists in the operation at Bwari/Kubwa road in Abuja.

In the voice note, the soldier said, there is one particular school of law which the terrorists wrote letter to and the school immediately informed their battalion, Guards Brigade. They went there and started an all round defence deployment and they as well went to Veritas University to secure the school because the university is not far from the law school, as the terrorists might be planning to attack Veritas University as well.

However, two weeks after they were dispatched to the two schools, they discovered that some people were flashing torchlights inside the forest near Veritas University and when they asked the school security if that was usual, they were told no and that was when they knew that might be the attackers in the forest.

“When we got to the forest, we saw where the terrorists do smoke, kill goat, do eat as well. We saw their drugs, that was when we confirmed that these people are inside this bush, then we re-enforced."

He said their back up came with APC, gun trucks, Artillery Team and they advanced into the forest on Sunday, looking for the terrorists and when they got to a point where there were rocks, their advanced weapons could not channel to that route, so, they left them behind and went with their rifles alone, not knowing that the assailants have seen them from afar.

They laid ambush for them and started flanking them from left and right, as they killed six soldiers in the process but, they were still able to kill twelve among them.

He said, ”They succeeded in killing one captain, one lieutenant and two soldiers in my unit. In another unit, we lost one soldier of 177 battalion Keffi, while 102 battalion lost one soldier as well."

Be Prepared - EX Christian Association Of Nigeria President Tells Federal Government

The Federal Government drove by the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), ought to affix its safety belt and comprehensively address the security challenges in the country, the recent President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Rev. Samson Ayokunle, exhorted on Thursday.

As per him, the spate of frailty in the nation is presently not easy breezy.

Ayokunle expressed this during a valedictory chapel gathering that was held in his distinction in Abuja.

Different dignitaries at the occasion incorporated the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha; Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State; Christian administrators in the National Assembly; 2023 official applicants, Peter Obi of the Labor Party, Adewole Adebayo of the Social Democratic Party and Prof. Chris Imumolen of the Accord Party.

Others were driving priests in the nation and individuals from the political corps among other prominent dignitaries.

As per Ayokunle, the Presidency needs to quit living willfully ignorant and support the security organizations to safeguard individuals.

He said, "The public authority of the day needs to attach their safety belt. The security circumstance in the nation is at this point not a thing of play any longer.

"Within the sight of the public authority, the psychological militants are boasting and executing their messages. To deny the undeniable is to gotten rest.

"Thus, the administration, particularly the representatives, ought to never again deny the self-evident. There are not conversing with kids.

"It has never occurred throughout the entire existence of this country that the most elevated proficient security troop, the Presidential Guards Brigade, will be gone after by fear based oppressors who have flaunted that they will hijack the President, will strike and kill 10 among those watching him. That isn't music in any way."

Imumolen said for the country to defeat its security issues, the public authority should start to break new ground.

"Assuming that we should vanquish uncertainty, we should handle financial difficulty, our automated permeable boundaries, and we should start to utilize innovation, particularly computerized reasoning to battle instability," he said.

Additionally, the Governor of Benue, Samuel Ortom, in his location, said, "Don't be scared by what is happening in our nation Nigeria. Today, Nigeria is under attack and there is likewise an attack rested against the congregation. Reality should be told.

The (SGF) Boss Mustapha provoked Christians to ascend in supplication for the country to conquer its current difficulties.

He said, "I see a magnificent church emerging out of the remains of what's going on in this country.

"In any case, the congregation should get back to its essential obligation of appealing to God for the country, provide guidance to its chiefs and setting up individuals for administration outside the congregation."

Talking for the benefit of the Christian government administrators, Senator Elisha Abbo, expressed in front of the 2023 decisions, Nigerians, especially Christians should cooperate for the solidarity of the country.

Abbo said, "What we want presently is solidarity of direction, since there has never been a period as this period when the foe is so furious at the congregation and individuals of God as it is currently in the nation, however toward the finish, all things considered, the congregation is walking on, and the doors of Hades won't ever win."

Likewise, Adewole Adebayo said, "We have issues in Nigeria, particularly in the Christian people group. Thus, we want supplications for a wonder to occur in Nigeria. The solidarity of the congregation is significant, yet incomplete without the solidarity of Nigeria. In the midst of emergency, lewd assumptions are of where the arrangement lies.

On his part, Peter Obi said, "Nigerians kindly recall your country in petitions. Likewise, recollect any among us going for public workplaces in petitions to involve public office for a long term benefit."

In his message during the valedictory assistance, previous Chaplain of State House Aso Villa, Rev. Williams Okoye, expressed that the main component liable for the torments in the country was because of the twisted feeling of values and lost needs.

"We should figure out how to put the upsides of the psyche and soul before all else. Any individual or country that puts more accentuation on realism is playing with catastrophe," Okoye said.

30 Terrorists Who Attacked Soldiers In Abuja Have Been Exterminated -DHQ Alleges

The Defence Headquarters in Abuja announced on Thursday that 30 terrorists who attacked Guards Brigade troops in the Bwari region of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Sunday have been exterminated.

According to Daily Post, military troops were attacked upon their return from the Nigerian Law School, where they had been to raise security concerns with the school's administration.

Two senior officials were ambushed and killed in the process.

During a bi-weekly news conference on military operations on Thursday in Abuja, the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major-General Bernard Onyeuko, stated that the operation was conducted by 7 Guards Battalion and 167 Special Forces Battalion in conjunction with the air component of "Operation Whirl Punch" between Sunday and Tuesday.

According to him, the army successfully cleansed the villages of Kawu and Ido, neutralising the terrorists and eliminating their refuges and enclaves.

During mop-up, according to him, the ground soldiers also recovered six motorcycles, two AK47 rifles, and one fully loaded LMG magazine, among other items.

He stated that the hierarchy of the Armed Forces of Nigeria and other security agencies re-assured Nigerians of their commitment and pact with all Nigerians, adding that with the recent operations conducted since July 23, 2022, "we wish to assure residents of FCT in particular that we are undaunted and unrelenting in our efforts to ensure the safety of lives and properties.

In addition to requesting the assistance and collaboration of all Nigerians, he asked the populace to go about their daily activities as their safety is assured.

The Terrorists Have Occupied The Street Of Abuja And We Are Still Playing Politics" - FCT Resident

A resident of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Charles Kufre, has expressed concern over the worsening insecurity situation in the nation's capital. Speaking in a recent report published by the Punch, the concerned citizen criticized the current approach towards the threats of the terrorists.
In his words; "The terrorists have occupied the streets of Abuja and we are still playing politics instead of us to shout out. They have issued threat and these guys would carry out their threats; we have seen this in the past". Noticeably, Kufre expresses the believe that if the terrorists can attack successfully the Kuje medium correctional center, then they are more than capable of carrying out further attacks should the situation be allowed to persist.

Tee Mac: Tinubu is My In-law, He’s 86, Not Fit to Run Nigeria

Tee Mac: Tinubu is My In-law, He’s 86, Not Fit to Run Nigeria

Renowned flutist and former President of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN), Tee Mac Omatshola Iseli, has warned Nigerians against voting the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, Bola Tinubu, saying he was older than he claimed and therefore unfit to run the country.

Tee Mac, who disclosed that he was an in-law to Tinubu , noted that the former Lagos governor’s total existence was too shrouded in secrecy to be given the job of leading Nigeria.
The musician, who responded to a Facebook post by one Yemi Olakitan, who was declaring his support for the politician, alleged that Tinubu was 86 years and not 70.
He, therefore, urged Nigerians not to vote for him, stressing that he was not qualified to run the country as president with all the unanswered questions surrounding his life.
For instance, he pointed out that, the controversies surrounding Tinubu’s age, background and how he made his money remained unresolved.
“Any body can choose any candidate, but an intelligent person will ask himself the question: do I choose rightly? Is the man qualified? Is he honest? Did he tell us the truth about his age, background and how he made his money? Is this man healthy enough at 86 to take up the task of a totally run down country?” Tee Mac said.
According to the flutist, he (Tee Mac) stopped visiting Tinubu after he sold President Muhammadu Buhari to Nigerians in 2015, adding that even as his in-law , he won’t support his ambition to rule Nigeria.
“You see, Tinubu is my in-law. His wife Remi is my cousin. Her Itsekiri mother and my Itsekiri mother are sisters. I have known Tinubu since the mid 1980s personally and even arranged for him to stay in my stepfather’s house (Sir Mobolaji Bank-Anthony) in London, when he went on exile.
“I stopped supporting him and stopped family visits etc when he sold that Buhari to the nation in 2015. My advice to the nation is that this man is absolutely not qualified to become our next president,” he wrote.

2023: Primate Ayodele exposes PDP Governors that will work against Atiku, Wike one of them

2023: Primate Ayodele exposes PDP Governors that will work against Atiku, Wike one of them

The INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church's primate, Elijah Ayodele, issued a warning to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Atiku Abubakar, the PDP's presidential candidate, on Wednesday over their ambition.

Primate Ayodele allegedly threatened Atiku with a "huge tsunami" from three other PDP governors and Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State if he did not put an end to the division within the PDP.

He asserted that if he didn't plan well, Atiku would be shocked because several governors would vote against him, and the presidency would fall to someone else.

The All Progressive Congress (APC) and its candidate Bola Ahmed Tinubu will not win the 2023 election because they do not have God's backing, the man of God also insisted in a statement signed by his media assistant, Oluwatosin Osho. However, if Atiku fails to rethink his strategy, a political revolution will occur that will result in the election of a different person as president of Nigeria.

'If Atiku doesn't plan wisely, he would be stunned in 2023 since certain governors in the PDP plan to dump and work against him in the presidential race,' says one analyst. If he is careless, he will be let down by Governor Wike and the other three governors. I think these governors are planning a huge tsunami against his desire, and the only way to stop it is by coming to an agreement.

Hours after senators threatened to impeach President Muhammadu Buhari if the current security situation did not improve, the president summoned an emergency meeting of the National Security Council for today.

Senate Minority Leader, Philip Aduda (PDP, FCT), who led a walkout after Senate President Ahmad Lawan vetoed a move to debate the recent security challenges, said the lawmakers had agreed to a six weeks ultimatum on the president to address the current spate of insecurity or get impeached.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, who spoke on the lawmakers’ threat while fielding questions after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the State House, Abuja, said the federal government was on top of the security challenge.

He thanked the senators for their concern but said the government was on top of the security situation in the country as steps were being taken to address their anxiety over the current development.

Mohammed said “Resolution passed by Senators, as rightly said, it was passed when we were deliberating, but we thank them for their patriotism and their concern, but we are working round the clock, 24 hours, to ensure that the situation is brought under control.

“I want to assure you that the president is aware of all these and as a matter of fact, I think tomorrow, there’s going to be another Security Council meeting. So, it’s not a matter the president is taking lightly and like I’ll always say, some of the measures we’re going to take are not measures that you can discuss openly here, but we’re as concerned as you are, we’re not going to abandon our responsibility.”

The minister also described as laughable and mere propaganda the threat by terrorists to kidnap President Buhari.

“As to those who have issued threats to Mr. President, I think it’s more of propaganda than anything. It’s laughable.”

Senators’ impeachment threat

Daily Trust gathered that the lawmakers took the decision to issue a six weeks ultimatum to the president at a closed-door session, which lasted for two hours during Wednesday’s sitting.

It was further learnt that the lawmakers agreed to deliberate on the resolution at the plenary after emerging from the executive session but Senate President Ahmad Lawan simply said that “Issues relating to workings of the Senate in particular and unity of Nigeria in general” were discussed and asked the Senate Leader to proceed with the items listed on the Order Paper.

This did not go down well with the opposition lawmakers, forcing them to stage a walkout of the Senate plenary, chanting “Buhari must go”.

Trouble started when the Senate Minority Leader, Philip Aduda raised a point of order, requesting the Red Chamber to give a six-week ultimatum to President Muhammadu Buhari to address the issue of insecurity or face impeachment as agreed at the closed session.

Aduda said, “Mr. President, you may wish to recall that during the closed session, we discussed the issues as they relate to security in the country and all the issues around it.

“We had also discussed that we are going to come back to plenary to discuss the efforts that have been made so far on the issue of security in the country, after which we give an ultimatum to the president that he resolves this issue, otherwise we give an impeachment notice.”

But Lawan ruled him out of order, saying that his point of order falls flat on his face since he did not discuss it with him.

Angered by the ruling, senators from opposition parties led by the Minority Leader, stormed out of the plenary, chanting songs calling on President Buhari to quit his office.

“All we are saying is, Buhari must go, Nigeria must survive,” the lawmakers chanted.

The protesting senators, including Adamu Bulkachuwa (APC, Bauchi North), later briefed reporters on what transpired at the closed-door session.

Speaking on behalf of the Senators, Aduda said their anger stemmed from the refusal of the Senate President to follow resolutions taken at the closed-door session.

He said: “We went into a closed-door session. Various security issues were discussed at the closed-door session.

“We also took into cognisance that the Senate, at various fora, at various times and various meetings, had recommended to the government steps to be taken to curb this issue of insecurity but we have realised that even Abuja is no safer.

“So, at the closed session, we agreed that we will give the president an ultimatum and if he did not comply, we will move to give an impeachment notice.

“This was our agreement at the executive session but when we came out, the Senate President refused to inform the public of our resolution.

“Since that didn’t happen, we have come here in protest to let Nigerians know that we are with them, that we are worried.

“We staged a walkout from the chambers to register that the security in Nigeria is out of hand and urgent steps need to be taken so that the issues are addressed immediately.

“We have come here to say that we have passed so many resolutions on security, we have given all the support and all the enabling appropriation that they need.”

‘Impeachment threat, a collective decision’

Daily Trust gathered from APC senators that it was a collective decision of the senators to issue President Buhari the six-week ultimatum to address the rising insecurity.

Senator Smart Adeyemi (APC, Kogi West) said none of the senators who attended the plenary opposed the impeachment threat.

He said: “It was a collective decision of the Senate to give an ultimatum to the president. The difference between the position of the APC and the opposition is that they said after six weeks, we must impeach (the president) but APC senators said we should review the security situation after the ultimatum and thereafter take a position.

“None of the senators who were at the plenary was against either ultimatum or impeachment,” he said.

An APC senator, who preferred not to be named, said lawmakers from the ruling party were also dissatisfied with the way the Buhari government handled the security situation in the country but could not speak out.

“We are with them on this issue, but decided to push them to speak out on behalf of all the senators,” he said.

However the Senate President in his closing remarks before the adjournment of the Senate, said all senators were worried and concerned about the security situation in the country.

He said an emergency session may be held during the long recess if the need arises.

Daily Trust reports that the lawmakers will be away till September 20, 2022.

BRIEF HISTORY OF OMU-ARAN

BRIEF HISTORY OF OMU-ARAN

The history of Omu-Aran town can not be completed without relating it to its place in Igbomina land history and to the larger Yoruba race and Ile-ife, the cradle of Yoruba Civilization.  Omu-Aran town was founded five hundred years ago as at 2002, when the first chronicle of Omu-Aran was Published.  The Omu-Aran community came into being as a result of outward movement from Ile-Ife.  These outward movements of people were in four phases, and the one relevant to the people of Omu-Aran was “The Private entrepreneurial post Oduduwa Migration”.

At one time in Ile-Ife, there was famine occasioned by prolong drought, and necessitated the consultation of Ifa Oracles by the divine Priests at that time in order to find solution to the famine problem.  It was the priests that pronounced Ile-Ife as been overcrowded and therefore prescribed emigration as the panacea.

The adoption of this recommendation led to the departure of princes and selected leaders from Ile-Ife to other places, they were given royal  blessings and symbol of authority.  Many Yoruba kingdoms of today arose as a result of this emigration.  From this emigration emerged the personality of an Ife Warrior by name Olomu-Aperan who became the progenitor of the Igbomina town of Omu-Aran in today’s Kwara State.

The existence of Omu-Aran could be traced back to a woman by name Omutoto who once live in Ilodo compound in ile-Ife.  She was one of the Oloris (royal wives) of the Oba Olofinaiye of Ile-Ife.  This woman bore no child, and therefore adopted some children of her relations.  She took great care of these children, and Olomu Aperan was one of them.

The mother of Olomu Aperan was a sister to Omutoto.  There were other children adopted by Omutoto, and one of them was Owa Ajibogun, the founder of Ijesha land.  They all grew up under Omutot.  The young Olomu was described as a mighty man of valour.  He was much respected, honoured and became known among Ijesha’s and Ife people as Olomu Aperan.  He was much respected, honoured and became known among Ijesha’s and Iffe people as Olomu Aperan.  He was a distinguished warrior an his successes at warfares  earned him several name such as Olomu Aperan, Olomu Aperin, Olomu Apeje and Olomu Aperindinlogun (conqueror of hosts).

His successes earned him the title of the Esikin Ologbomona, a title synonymous with there Aare-Ona-Kakanfo in the old Oyo  empire.  As the Esikin, he was perhaps the chief of defence staff and was the linkman between the chief of defence council and the warrirors of the land on one hand and between his royal highness, the king and the warriors on the other hand.  He was the custodian of the artifact of state called the “Ogbo” an antiquity of eminent significance in custom and governance.

“Ogbo” is a cultic of histotical relics which Oduduwa and his people inherited from the original settlers of Ile-Ife, after the conquest of the place by Oduduwa. The Oduduwa age adopted the relic as a symbol of unity and trust.  It became an instrument of authority of the highest ruling council in the land.
On the Civil matters, ogbo was believed to have the power of sorting out complex matters and unraveling the truth against all odds.  Ogbo was therefore regarded as an infallible pathfinder and coined out of the refrain Ogbomona meaning that Ogbo charts the course.  Olomu Aperan being the custodian of this Ogbo held on to it on his departure from Ile-Ife in the great commission of the time.  He was also given a crown and some royal drums.
On leaving Ile-Ife, olomu Aperan first settled at Omu Ijaregbe Otherwise called Oke-Omu.  This settlement is about 8km from the present day Ilesha and is still in existence today.  The Oba of Ijaregbe maintained the title of Olomu for many years but has recently adopted Ajaregbe as his new title.  The domain is a little village, but the Oba does not bow to the Owa of Ijesha land.

It was at Omu-Ijaregbe that Olomu Aperan relinquished the title of Esikin to one of his children and assumed the title of full Oba like other founders of his time.  It was at Omu-Ijaregbe that Olomu Aperan first encountered major resistance after departure from Ile-Ife.  At a time however, a dispute arose between Owari, the reigning Owa Obokun of Ijesha land at that time and Olomu Aperan.  Owari was assisted by Ogboni of Ijebu-Ijesha and their combined forced defeated that of Olomu Aperan.  This led to the departure of Olomu Aperan from that place to settle in the present day Omu-Aran.  Similarly, other leaders also departed to other places to found new kingdoms of Omuo in Ekiti State, and Olomu near Abeokuta.  All these place today continue to incorporate Omu in their names in honour of their deitified mother, Omutoto.  Omu-Aran town is made up of people from various places and background that migrated to the present site of the town.  Not all the compounds in Omu-aran share the same ancestry from Omutoto but it is an established fact that the founder of Omu-Aranwas Olomu Aperan.  It was believed that Olomu Aperan left Ijaregbe along with his people at about the 12th Century to settle initially in a place called Odo-Omu near Ola in Isin Local Government Area of kwara State.

Later, he moved along with his people to settle in the present place called Omu-Aran.  It was believed that he encountered lots of resistance on his way from the Nupe’s who were settlers in some of the places inhabited by the Yoruba’s, it was believed that he was guided on his journey by the Ogbo which was claimed to have mythical power.  This Ogbo could be found in the present day Omu-Aran.

Armed Bandits Break In Through Back Door, Kidnap Wife Of Fulani Leader That Was Initially Rescued

Indication has emerged on how armed bandits stormed the residence of a top Fulani Leader and kidnapped his wife.

According to a report by Daily Trust, the victim was Mrs Habiba Adamu who is the wife of Ardon Fulani in Kwali area council of Abuja, Alhaji Adamu Garba Ardo. The report added that the woman was initially kidnapped in February but rescued by some vigilantes and reunited with her family. Sadly, she has now been kidnapped again with three of her children. The three children were identified as Hafsat, Fatima and Abubakar.

Their kidnap came barely a day after bandits kidnapped a couple at Sheda village, still in the same Kwali area of Abuja. The latest re-abduction of Mrs Habiba Adamu was confirmed by the senior wife of the Ardon Fulani, Mrs Khadijat Adamu.

While explaining how the abduction happened, she stated that the armed bandits stormed Anguwar Tudan Fulani at Yangoji village in the area at about 12:04am. She also revealed that the bandits gained access into the house through the kitchen back door. Then, they took some valuables including phones, and later abducted the victims and made away with them.

The Aron Fulani was not around during the time of the attack. It would be recalled that the kidnapped Aron's wife was initially released after her first abduction in February when the bandits realized that she could not walk because of old age. It is not clear what their intention is this time around as they took her away despite her condition.

The Kogi State Government has denied reports of a Bomb Explosion in one of its offices

The Kogi State Government has denied reports of a Bomb Explosion in one of its offices on Tuesday.

Several news platforms had reported that a bomb went off in the Kogi state govt house sending panic through the state.

However, in a statement made available to POLITICS NIGERIA, signed by Mohammed Onogwu, the chief press secretary to the Governor, the reports were ‘False’.

“The attention of the Kogi State Government has been drawn to a false and misleading publication in the media platforms captioned: “Explosion Rocks Kogi Government Office”.

“The government is miffed and views this publication as malicious, false, misleading and a calculated attempt to cause panic and undermine the already improved security situation in the state.

“May we, at this point, state the true facts surrounding the incident that actually occurred earlier this morning of 26/07/2022 around the Ministry of the Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, opposite Muhammadu Buhari Civic Centre, Lokoja. There was a distressing call to the police regarding an object that looked like an IED placed on the fence of the ministry of Local government and chieftaincy Affairs, opposite Mohammad Buhari Square, Lokoja.”

“The Bomb Disposal Unit at the Nigerian Police Force Command located a minute away from the scene was immediately deployed to the area. On arrival they found out that it was a plastic Bottle and a Can of insecticide wrapped together with a power source to look like an IED. It was discovered to be a hoax and the object was removed by operatives of Bomb Disposal Unit.”

“However, there was no explosion around any government premises in Lokoja as reported by some media platforms. The state government considers the publication as not only unprofessional but also believes it’s at variance with the ethics of the profession of journalism.”

“For the sake of emphasis, we would like to put the record straight that there was no bomb explosion whatsoever in Kogi Government House or offices in Lokoja metropolises.”

“The government commends the good people of Kogi for their unalloyed support given to the security agencies in the state and enjoins them to disregard false news as it is capable of causing palpable tension as well as instilling fear in the state while urging them to go about their normal businesses as there is no cause for alarm.”

Falcons too old for modern women football – Modise

South African legend, Portia Modise, has blamed the defeat of Nigeria’s Super Falcons squarely on the refusal of the Nigeria Football Federation to hand opportunities to younger players rather than heavily relying on aged players. Modise opined that the nine-time Africa champions have lost their winning edge because they keep fielding many aged players that ought to have retired instead of giving opportunities to younger players from their Under 20s.

Super Falcons have over five first team players aged 30 and above including captain Onome Ebi (39) who played all the four matches, midfielder Rita Chikwelu (34) and goalkeeper Tochukwu Oluehi (35). Modise who scored 101 goals for Banyana Banyana said: “One thing that I see in the Nigerian team is that they don’t want to let go of the senior players.

Adeleke's Victory In The Election Saved Me From Palace Eviction - Ataoja Of Osogbo Reveals.

Oba Jimoh Oyetunji, the Ataoja of Osogbo, has congratulated Senator Ademola Adeleke, the People's Democratic Party's nominee for governor of Osun State in last Saturday's election, on his victory.

Speaking to Adeleke and his supporters in his palace, Oba Oyetunji also said that he had received eviction threats from unnamed parties.

It will be recalled that during Adeleke's visit to Ataoja prior to the governorship election, the monarch, in response to the alleged attack on some PDP members who were coming to welcome their party's candidate, had cursed the individuals responsible for the politically motivated attacks in the town.

Some members of the community were offended by the royal father's outburst and accused him of being partisan.

But Ataoja described himself as fortunate that Adeleke won because he could have been driven out of the palace with a broom. He was speaking in a brief video clip that was captured during the Governor-visitation elect's to him.

The video's Yoruba-speaking Ataoja added, "My preaching to my son, who is now my boss, is simple: May you succeed in your position. I'm stating this out loud for everyone to hear. Understanding Why A Federal High Court Freed Chidinma Accused of Murdering Her Boyfriend

Understanding Why A Federal High Court Freed Chidinma Accused of Murdering Her Boyfriend

A lot of mixed reactions from Nigerians have continued to trail the decision of the Akwa Ibom State High Court sitting in Uyo, to discharge and acquit a female National Youths Service Corps member, identified as Miss Chidinma Paschaline Odume. Recall she was arraigned before Justice Bassey Nkanang for allegedly murdering her 26-year-old boyfriend, identified as Akwaowo Japheth, in January 2021.

Well, many Nigerians have continued to register their dissatisfaction with the verdict of the high court sitting in Uyo, Akwa-Ibom State, though without truly understanding why Chidinma was freed by the court. First of all, according to police investigation, it was revealed that the deceased who took Chidinma to his house on that fateful day (January 10, 2021), tried acting funny. In other words, while in his house, he had allegedly attempted to force himself on her, including threatening to kill her with a machete, all in his desperate efforts to forcefully have his way.

According to Vanguard newspaper, the Police Public Relations Officer in the State, Odiko Macdon, further revealed that the above incident led to a serious misunderstanding between the alleged lovebirds, and it was in the process that she engaged in an act that eventually led to his death. As such, it was concluded that she only acted in self defense, which eventually vindicated her from the alleged murder charges.

2023: Court okays suit seeking Tinubu’s trial over alleged perjury

2023: Court okays suit seeking Tinubu’s trial over alleged perjury

...orders service of processes on IGP, fixes Nov 1 for hearing

By Ikechukwu Nnochiri

ABUJA – The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, on Thursday, fixed November 1 to commence hearing on a suit seeking to compel the Inspector General of Police, IGP, Usman Baba, to initiate a perjury case against the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The court, in a ruling that was delivered by Justice Inyang Ekwo, granted permission to the Incorporated Trustees of Center for Reform and Public Advocacy, a Civil Society Organization, CSO, to apply for an order of mandamus, to compel the IGP to in line with Sections 31 and 32 of the Police Act and Section 3 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2015, prefer charges against the APC flag-bearer, following an allegation that he lied on oath.

Justice Ekwo held that an ex-parte application the group brought before the court on Thursday, was meritorious.

He, therefore, ordered service of all the relevant processes in the substantive suit marked: FHC/ABJ/CS/1058/2022, on the Nigerian Police Force, NPF, and the IGP, who were cited as 1st and 2nd Respondents, respectively.

The group, had through its team of lawyers led by Mr. Ugo Nwofor, told the court that the suit was necessitated by the IGP’s refusal to take action on its petition against APC’s presidential candidate over an offence it said was established by report of an investigation that was conducted by the Lagos State House of Assembly in 1999.

The CSO, told the court that it earlier forwarded a petition to Police authorities, demanding further action on the said investigative report.

It maintained that by virtue of Sections 214 and 215, of the 1999 Constitution, as amended, as well as Section 4 of the Nigerian Police Act, 2020, the Police, have the statutory responsibility to “prevent, detect and investigate criminal allegations whether brought to their notice by individuals, person or persons, corporate bodies, institutions etc”.

It further claimed that by Section 31 of the Nigerian Police Act, the Respondents, are duty bound to investigate alleged crime brought to them and report their findings to the Attorney General of the Federation or of a state, as the case may be, for legal advice.

The Applicant added that by Section 32(1) of the Police Act, “a suspect or Defendant alleged or charged with committing offence established by an Act of the National Assembly or under any other laws shall be arrested, investigated and tried or dealt with according to the provisions of this Act, except otherwise provided under this Act”.

It contended that it has the legal competence to invoke the jurisdiction of the court to compel the Respondents to discharge their legal, constitutional and public dutiesy in line with the law.

More so, the Applicant, decried that its two letters dated June 16 and 27, which it forwardes to the Respondents, wherein it demanded the prosecution of the APC candidate over alleged perjury, have until now been ignored.

It said the Respondents have also “not notified the Applicant of any action taken on the said letter”.

The Applicant told the court that following a letter by late legal luminary, Chief Gani Fawehinmi, in 1999, the Lagos State House of Assembly had set up an Ad-hoc Committee to investigate the alleged act of perjury wherein the Committee had in its report on page 13 stated that, “However, on question of providing false information on oath (sections 191 and 197) we are satisfied that the statement of the governor’s educational qualification which he has admitted were incorrect were not intended…”

In its petition to the IGP, the Applicant, claimed that APC’s presidential  candidate lied on oath in the form CF 001 he submitted to INEC in aid of his qualification for the governorship election in Lagos State in 1999.

Let’s live in peace, Ife tells Modakeke residents

The Great Ife Movement has called on Modakeke indigenes to live in peace with Ife indigines and farmers in rural areas under Modakeke.

This was made known through the President, Great Ife Movement, comrade  Femi Oyeyinka in a chat with our correspondent.

He said war is not a solution to peace as it further aggravates state of things rather shelt their sword and embrace peace as nothing could be like peace and love.

According to him, “Recent activities of Modakeke suggests that they are still interested in crisis. It was surprised that Modakeke still lay claim to Urban Day Grammar School, a school situated under Ife Central Local Government whereas Modakeke is under Ife-East.

“This would have led to another crisis, if not because of maturity of Ile-Ife. They removed billboard erected bearing Ile-Ife as the owner of the school. There has been suspicion between the two communities and this is dangerous.

“We don’t want crisis in the communities again even the relationship is absolutely not cordial as expected. Modakeke should believe that they are part of Ife and if this is done, we are one family. Ife is accommodating and they should see themselves as part of us.”

Oyeyinka stressed that Osun State has intervened in the matter and there had been relative peace in the affected villages where there was crisis, lamenting that the issues have not been resolved.

He added, “The world press conference held recently which called attention of the State Government to the lingering crisis in the villages.”

The Osun State Boundary Commission had wade through invitation of the two communities for peaceful resolution of the lingering crisis and the Commission commended Ife for peaceful approach adopted by not taken laws into its hands.

Since the government’s intervention, there has been relative peace in the affected villages. Ife farmers were urged to distance themselves from the affected areas pending the resolution of the issues to avoid further crisis.

“They are attacking Ife farmers. The farmers are at receiving end but we have to obey government directive and give them benefit of doubt.”

He said that several panel of enquiries had recommended that Modakeke should be referred to as Modakeke-Ile Ife but was not implemented.

“They have not been cooperating and if they have been cooperating they would get more than enough from Ife,” he said.

“Modakeke should see Ife as her landlord but this, Modakeke is not ready to accept and they are not ready to embrace peace. They are the ones who are terrorizing Ife people on their farm lands.

“Modakeke does not respect Ooni of Ife and there are several evidences to proof this. Ooni is accommodating and peaceful, and had been appealing to Ifes to allow peace to reign in the affected villages despite provocative actions of the Modakeke.”

He noted that there have been inter-marriage relationship between the two communities from the time immemorial and this shows that they have been living together peacefully until few years back when things changed.

Oyeyinka called on Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi to be above board before it goes out of hands, saying Ife people are being killed on their farm land. He said families in Ife cannot go to their farms in Modakeke areas because of fear of being killed by Modakeke indigenes.

He said, “Ooni should work with the State Government to find lasting solutions to the lingering crisis in the affected villages. Modakeke should be paying tenancy to Ifes and allow Ife monarchs to return to their ancestral land.”

The GIM President, therefore, called on Ifes to allow Modakekes to return to their farms under Ife and be paying tenancy in the interest of peace and stop killing one another.
