found my Daughter’s Food flask & Books near a River, not knowing she had Drowned -Ondo farmer

John Monday, a farmer in Iboropa, Akoko North-West Local Government Area of Ondo State, has shared the story of how he discovered his daughter had been swept away by a flood. During his interview on Punch News with Peter Dada, the father of the 14-year-old victim revealed how his daughter fell to her death.

Sharing his ordeal, John said, "On that fatal day, I had scheduled to fetch her from a secondary school in Ikare." So, in the afternoon, I was returning from Iboropa (in Akoko North-West), where I dwell. I heard rumors of a student being washed away by a river. I had no idea they were discussing my daughter. Before I arrived at the river where the incident occurred, I observed her food flask on the road. I immediately disembarked from my motorcycle. I spotted her books as I got down. I found out afterwards that she had slid off a plank and fallen into the gutter.

He continued, "I was told she was with two other students and that they all wanted to cross the gutter. One of the other two students was the first to successfully cross the gutter. However, when my daughter attempted to cross later, she slid off the plank and fell into the gutter. The plank was said to be weak. I did everything I could to find her, and then I hired about ten people to help me. They took N30,000 from me before starting their search for her.
