Bandits have attacked Pinau village, Wase local government area of Plateau State and killed about six people.
A source from the village told DAILY POST that the bandits also stole foodstuffs from the locals in the area.
Major Ishaku Takwa, the spokesperson, Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), explained that troops of the multi-security task force, maintaining peace in the state, have been sent to the village.
The source further explained that the bandits in their large number stormed the community at about 3pm, shooting sporadically to scare the people.
He said the incident occurred following the withdrawal of soldiers from the area about five days when the residents raised alarm over the development forcing hundreds of occupants to flee their homes to Wase town, the headquarters of Wase LGA.
He added, “Before the arrival of the bandits, hundreds of residents of the community have already fled because of the fear of being attacked and that is why the casualty figure is not much. Six people were killed. The bandits on their arrival asked people to remain in their rooms.”
He explained that the bandits broke into shops and stole food items and other properties, stressing that they also kidnapped some people leaving a pathetic situation on ground.
